Καθώς οι Έλληνες γιορτάζουν δύο αιώνες από την Επανάσταση που τους χάρισε την ανεξαρτησία τους, οι designers ίσως για πρώτη φορά δεν αντλούν έμπνευση από τo αρχαιοελληνικό πρότυπο κάλλους, με την αισθητική που ισορροπεί πάνω στη γεωμετρία, αλλά αφήνουν να τους εμπνεύσουν η φλόγα της εξέγερσης, η ανυπακοή, ο ηρωισμός και η θυσία που γέννησαν το νεότερο ελληνικό κράτος. Η φουστανέλα γίνεται διακοσμητικό γλυπτό, το φέσι εμπνέει τσάντες, τα σύμβολα του Αγώνα γίνονται δαχτυλίδια-σφραγίδες και η δίψα για ελευθερία αποτυπώνεται σε συλλεκτικά φουλάρια και ρολόγια.

AS GREECE celebrates 200 years of the revolution that granted it its independence, designers, surprisingly, are not inspired by the ancient Greek model of beauty with aesthetics poised on geometry but by the rebellion’s flame, the disobedience, the heroism and the sacrifice that gave birth to the new Greek State. The fustanella becomes a decorative sculpture, the fez influences handbag design, the symbols of the Rebellion become signet rings and the desire for freedom is depicted on special edition scarves and watches.
