INTRO It is my pleasure to present to you this edition full of updates and news that will certainly influence your seller performance. Ziler of the Month: Nguyen Anh from Vietnam The topic of this month’s interview is “Learn from the Best”: we asked one of our best Zilers to tell us about his journey with Teezily, the initial challenges, and the first (outstanding) successes. How did you start your business at Teezily?

I finished my studies in 2013 and started a fulltime job, but it was not interesting and motivational. I always dreamt of having my own business and continuously looked for ideas and resources. As online business seemed more suitable for my capacity, since 2015 I started trying out a lot of ways to MMO (Make Money Online). The turning point was when I was introduced to T-shirt-marketing by a friend. I felt immediately drawn towards the idea and spent the entire night reading about it. By the next day I had decided to put all my efforts and determination to succeed in this business.

s What were the main challenge p you faced while trying to develo your business?

After the 3 first months of launching my campaigns and of advertising, all I earned were losses but I gained enormously in terms of experience. I strongly believe that all great things start from small beginnings, although the hardship was much more difficult than I had thought. I had strong pressure from my family, who did not fully understand online business and preferred the conventional 9-to5 jobs. Lack of money to invest in Facebook ads was also a big problem for me. Luckily, I always had my friends who were by my side and gave me valuable financial aid. I also made some new friends in the T-shirt business and together we worked and learned, gained more experiences and aimed for success.

How do you organise your work every day?

At the moment, I am not only responsible for organizing my own work, but also that of my team. I live by the proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” In order to get the whole team to give their best, motivation is the most important factor. While everyone in the team has his/her own specialized tasks, we all should have the same result-oriented mind. We decide on a general goal and plan how each person can contribute towards the fulfillment of that vision. I then work on the details of daily and weekly plans, such as launching campaigns, researching the target audience, launching ads, gathering and analyzing data, and looking for new ideas.

What is going to be your next move?

I am still training people in my team and our goal is to get every individual to be the best. I would also like to expand my business to Shopify and to build up my personal brand. What do you think about the future of online t-shirt marketing?

How do you keep your ideas fresh for your market?

I keep myself up-to-date by following a lot of online sources, especially those related to my niches. I pay a lot of attention to the information that gets strong reactions on social media. Having the mindset of a T-shirt marketer is very essential. When I come across a funny quote or a provocative image, I immediately think of how it would look like on a shirt, what kind of people would like it and how the audience would react to it. I then note it down and discuss with my designer to turn the ideas into beautiful designs.

s Can you tell us the advantage of targeting such an active market as the United States?

The American market is for sure the biggest e-commerce market, especially for this business as t-shirt is a part of their culture. It is quite easy for them to come to decision to buy, provided the shirt is correctly targeted to show their emotions, passions, or views that they support. They usually buy in large groups and share the campaign with their community, therefore campaigns in the US can reach in-

I think it is a business with a lot of potential, but it is also one with fierce competition. Only those with great determination and commitment to the job can achieve success. Do you have any requests or suggestions for our team?

10 tips to set up a powerful email marketing campaign

Don’t trust people who say that email communication is dying, it is quite the opposite: it is evolving. Indeed, you should keep in mind a few essential marketing insights to draw an effective email campaign. If you want to drive further sales to your new campaigns, you should definitely avoid the common trap of simply blasting out self-promotional messages.

1.

Focus on the message.

You want to generate new profits but you won’t achieve your goals if you only think about sales strategies. Customer acquisition and satisfaction is the foundation of a trustful relationship : describe your brand, create your identity as a seller, and do not forget to keep your buyers posted about relevant updates.

2.

Make it skimmable.

Your subscribers are busy people who get a lot of emails, so it's safe to assume you don't have their undivided attention. Instead of one long block, break up your content into short paragraphs. Three sections are more than sufficient: first, draft a very meaningful introduction with all the relevant information. You need to catch their attention! The second paragraph should add further information about your sale and your brand identity. Close the emails with details about the TZ customer service.

Include subheadings and images to guide readers through your email and make it easier to skim, and add a teaser to the top of your newsletter to tell subscribers what's in store. What about a nice banner with your products preview and a catchy slogan?

Customize it!

You now have the basic information you need to target your client: make the most of them! You should think as a buyer and try to figure out what they would love to read, the products might interest them… Furthermore, make sure your offers are more customized to fit their needs. Getting to know your audience is the first step for an effective retargeting.

Use e-mail campaigns as a dialogue.

The goal is to invite your customers to buy again from you but this is not automatically happening. Try to look for the silver lining and think about the infinite promotion opportunities a simple email can offer: that’s why you should add the links to your social pages. Do not forget about the power of “sharing”: a customer might invite a friend to visit your pages and multiplying your sales possibilities.

Mobile optimization.

This is one of the most common mistakes while creating a newsletter or a marketing email: not considering the mobile devices. You should keep in mind that most of your (potential) buyers will open the e-mails in the morning or before going to sleep, on their smartphones. Therefore, create a layout that fits with mobile.

Include call to actions.

Having an effective call to action is an essential part of any email: thus, every message should have a goal it wants users to complete. Whether it is filling in a contact form about which kind of colors/items they would love to see on your store, visiting your page or purchasing your new campaign. A call to action provides focus to your site as well as direction for your buyer.

Make it visual and interactive.

We strongly suggest you to take care of the visual content as well. We live in the era of Instagram and Snapchat: videos and pictures are a powerful communication tool. So how about adding a banner on the top of your email with a preview of your exclusive products? Also, do not forget to include pictures of happy customers with your items.

Testing.

In order to achieve outstanding results for your e-mail campaigns, testing is compulsory. And do not forget to change browser or email provider to verify that the layout fits perfectly to the user’s page. A customer won’t lose a minute reading an email that doesn’t show a picture or has links that don’t work. Email marketing veterans know that testing subject lines is a critical step in designing an email campaign that will have a high open rate. Likewise, the length of your subject line impacts response rates, and the optimal length is shorter than we expected.

Deliverability.

Well, the customer should receive your email if you want to enhance your selling strategy. Quite logical, isn’t it? Therefore, the anti-spam filter is one of your worst enemies. Avoid using words such as “free”, “try it”, “click here”, “offer”, “opportunity”. Back to number 8, test and check whatever can prevent you from reaching your audience.

Analyzing.

Once you click on “send”, your job is far from over. Always remember: as for your Teezily campaigns, analyzing your results can help you forge the best marketing strategy. Lost in Translation

Although we’ve all had quite a few laughs with famous slogan campaigns gone wrong, it is no laughing matter when it involves the Teezily business, our sellers, and your clients. Here at Teezily we understand the importance of adapting all the campaigns to the target culture, this is why we have put at your disposal the company’s translators for free! You may have noticed that sometimes the translators reply to your translation requests asking for more context or even giving advice on how to better adapt the phrases to the target language, so we decided that it would be a good idea to show you why such questions have to be asked and why it is important that you send us as much context as possible.

Forget about literal translations There is always that one design that sells exceptionally well, and it is only logical to want the design translated into every language offered and spread your success over several different national markets. This may seem like a solid strategy, but in practice it is not that simple because some designs are just not cut out to be translated. The main reason for this is that many catchy slogans have become famous in a particular language, such as “Keep Calm” and song lyrics like “I’ve got 99 problems but… ain’t one”. In these situations it is likely that our team of translators will leave you a note explaining that it might be more efficient to leave the design in the original language because otherwise, it won’t be recognizable. But don’t worry! These famous slogans and song lyrics are often known worldwide and will therefore still sell in the international market. As you can see from the example below. “keep calm” is not usually translated.

We need the specifics We know you want the perfect translation for your design and we want to give it to you, but In order to do so we need the specifics. But what are the specifics? If you look at the English language, there are many words that have multiple meanings that don’t exist in other languages. To make it clearer to you, we want to give you a couple of examples:

“Real women ride” or “All I care about is my bike and like 3 people” Yes, these can be amazing and successful campaigns, unless the translation is wrong. While it may be clear to you what real women ride, our translators may interpret it differently. Do they ride a bike, motorbike, horse or something else? The same applies to the word “bike”. What kind of bike are you talking about? A mountain bike, motorbike, motorcross bike or the bicycle? Give us the specifics and we’ll give you the correct translation! For example, if you were to give the translators the phrase that appears on the t-shirt without sending the design, they will never know you are referring to riding horses.

“This nurse needs a shot” Yes, we also think this is funny. Unfortunately, the word “shot” does not have the double meaning in other languages (= injection or drink). Usually our translators always make it work, but in this case the phrase is untranslatable as it loses the double meaning.

“This girl only cares about her Bernies” We feel you, we all love dogs. But which Bernie are are you referring to? All of you dog lovers out there will know there are two types of breeds that could be given the nickname “Bernie”. You know which breed you are talking about, but our translators cannot be sure. And you probably do not want to run a campaign for St. Bernards with the wrong breed name in another language, do you?

To Rhyme or Not to Rhyme ? Choosing a poem, a phrase or a song that rhymes is a great design idea for your Teezily campaign. Not only is it catchy but the fact that it’s popular gives you a better chance at scoring more sales! However, because all languages have different structures, it can be hard to recreate the same rhythm in the target language. In some cases where a rhyme can be created by slightly modifying the original sentence, there is always the risk of deviating from the meaning intended. Which is why, more often than not, the translated phrase will not have the same punch as in English and the translators will ask you what they should priotitize, meaning or rhyme? Examples: Don’t fear …… is here ; Husband and wife, partners for life ; I'm a beauty in the hall and a beast when I play ball ; here and there…. everywhere

Movie Quotes “This is an occasion for genuinely tiny knickers” Lucky for you, some of our translators love watching movies about women gliding from their twenties into their thirties and having parts of their life fall apart. However, although this was an easy find, we haven’t had the same luck with quotes from movies like “Too fast and Too Furious”. In order to receive the proper translation in a timely manner, please send us the movie and the scene the quote belongs to... especially if there are 8 movies!

Tips on how to use the app • Make the most out of it: You can use the translation app for your designs,

but also for your campaign’s titles and descriptions, emails for clients, Facebook captions, and the URL!

• No context no party: As mentioned earlier in the article, you should be specific for your own benefit. Our translators cannot read your mind, no matter how much they would like to. Additionally, tell us whether you need the design for males, females or both.

• Pictures say more than words: If you get your your design inspiration from

another existing design, please include the link to provide the translators with context and the word placement in the design.

• Less is more: We suggest that you send a limited amount of sentences

with each request. This way our translators are able to keep a good overview of your request and can guarantee a good translation. When dealing with requests from many different designs, there is a higher risk of getting lost in translation.

• Respect trademark: Trademark is a serious issue. All campaigns concerning trademark will eventually be deleted. Therefore, it is in your best interest to respect trademark from the beginning of the designing process and avoid wasting.

Where do you come from an

d where do you live in Paris? I was born in Napoli but was raised both in Germany and Northern Ital y (Friuli-Venezia-Giulia).I have been in Paris since the beginning of 201 5 and I just moved to Boulogne-Billa ncourt. How is working in such an international and dynamic team? Well it’s great, and also a very positive thing for Teezily. It’s nice to have a chat with people from so many different cultures :)

This may sound banal but you sh ould learn something new ev ery day. When w e talk about E-Commerce you are never done le arning and the more details you learn the be tter you will get, it’s the little th ings that can mak e you great!!
