Since our founding in 1930, The Angola Pennysaver has been a FREE community newspaper. However, original content and creative pieces we pride ourselves on sharing with you takes a great deal of time, hard work and money to produce. In the past, advertising has been our primary means of support, but the revenue we get from advertising has been falling as advertisers increasingly move away from local publications to global platforms like Google, Facebook & other social medias. That means support from readers like you is more important than ever. In 2012, The Angola Pennysaver employed ten people. Now, we’re down to just three employees. The Angola Pennysaver used to be as many as 36 pages. Now, we’re averaging around 12-16 pages. Of course, like all other businesses local to our community, we see a significant drop in revenue during the winter months. You may have noticed the unique promotions featured weekly in each edition. This extra revenue from these pages helps us to push forward during slow times, but with the costs of ink, paper and printing still rising, with full transperancy -there are weeks that we take a loss. While we are extremely appreciative for the support from our loyal advertisers, we must swallow our pride and ask you, our readers to please consider supporting The Angola Pennysaver so we can continue to bring you the best in local news, community events, and original content. If only 10 percent of our market contributed just $20/year to support us, we could easily meet our budget and bring you even better content and supplemental pieces in the future. Most Precious Blood Church and Operation Good Neighbor (OGN) would like to thank all who donated to the recent Project: Keep Evans Warm and Fed effort to provide essential warm winter clothing and food to Town of Evans residents in need. Once again, we were joined by our friends at the First Church of Evans. There were over 500 items of clothing donated. The food drive collected close to 400 pounds of canned/dry goods and the paper goods and personal care items were many. Also helping us was the Evans Branch of Evans Bank and Everhaunt whose clothing items were too numerous to count. Everhaunt also donated hundreds of pounds of food and many toys. Every donation no matter how small helped make this effort a huge success. The extra assistance we received this year clearly and by far made this a record-breaking Project in donations. Although the Christmas Season version of Project: Keep Evans Warm and Fed is officially over, the need for more clothing, food, and paper goods still exists. LSHS Student Government & Leadership Students Holiday Collaboration with PUNT Foundation

In December, Lake Shore’s Student Government Association (SGA) connected with the P.U.N.T. Pediatric Cancer Collaborative to help raise awareness of their services and provide financial help for an adopted family in the program. The SGA donated $250 to the Collaborative and adopted a local family whose son is battling cancer. After learning that most of the family's income went to pay for the 10-year-old’s cancer treatment, students purchased and wrapped more than 40 gifts for the six-member family. The SGA would like to thank the Lake Shore students and parents for their generosity, the Lauren Smith Family for bringing this opportunity to Lake Shore, and to the P.U.N.T. Collaborative for allowing us to work with them in giving needed support this time of year.
