Information Regarding Applications for Absentee Ballots and Early Mail Ballots
The District Clerk will automatically mail an Absentee Ballot to each voter whose registration record on file with the county board of elections is marked “permanently disabled.” All other voters must submit an application prior to obtaining an absentee ballot or early mail ballot.
Applications for Absentee Ballots and Applications for Early Mail Ballots will be available in the District Clerk’s Office beginning Monday April 15, 2024 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. The District Clerk’s Office is located in the Lake Shore High School, 959 Beach Road, Angola, NY. Voters must enter through the main entrance of the High School.
Completed Applications must be received by the District Clerk at least 7 days before the election (May 14, 2024) if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election (May 20, 2024), if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter.
Absentee Ballots and Early Mail Ballots must be received by the District Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the election (May 21, 2024).
Timeline Note: All potential candidates have until April 22nd to submit their petitions to appear on the May 21st ballot. Bella Hamm Named AJS Kind Kid for March
A.J. Schmidt Elementary School’s Kind Kid of the Month for March is 1st grader Bella Hamm. Bella, a student in Mrs. Govenettio’s class, loves art, math, recess, lunch, and swimming in her grandmother’s pool. Bella is the Kind Kid nominee because she shows kindness to others everywhere in the school. When Bella grows up, she wants to be a nurse and help kids who are sick.
Bella learned to be kind from her Mom and finds her friend Morgan to be especially kind, as well. Being kind makes Bella feel “amazing” and she likes the idea of teaching other kids to be kind, too. Bella suggests that if friends see someone who looks sad, they should ask that person how they are feeling. Bella thinks Mrs. Mead does a great job teaching kids about feelings. Giancarlo
Seraphino “Joe” Giancarlo (1952-2024), originally from the West Side of Buffalo. Retired to Brant, NY and enjoyed a beautiful life together with the love of his life Linda (Myers) Giancarlo and three daughters and sons-in-law: Kimberly (Bob), Gloria (Lee) and Kristen (Matthew). Joe will be dearly missed by his 5 grandchildren, as well as his beloved fur babies and fur grandbabies. Joe coached an all-girls softball league for Cassata’s Dome in Tonawanda, NY. He and his father loved to bowl at Volkers Bowling Lanes and Joe played ice hockey for the local bar leagues. He worked for over 30 years as a dispatcher, truck driver, shop supervisor and purchasing agent for Nicholson and Hall Corporation, for a man he considered like a father figure to him, the late Mr. Louis Madia. Joe and Linda shared a passion for music for over 30 years. Joe was the “Sound technician” for Diamond Sound, a duo of Linda and her brother Roy Myers, since 1994. From 2005 – 2023, Joe was the equipment manager of Crash Cadillac, the band which Linda was the lead singer for, featuring Donny Vaccaro, Jack Borgosz, Keith Spurlock, Jim Mercurio, Bob Steff and Frank Marini. Joe’s best friend, Mike Tortoricci of Buffalo Sound, continuously worked with Joe on equipment and sound so he always had the best output of music. Mike and Joe talked often and loved each other like brothers. The beautiful friends made along the way while in the music industry was truly a blessing. Joe was always about making everyone else happy, he gave all of himself to make sure everyone had the best. Friends may call Saturday April 20, 2024 from 1PM – 7PM at the Addison Funeral Home, Inc. Linda Ann Bateman
Linda Ann Bateman, 68, Corydon, Ind. (formerly of Angola, NY) passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, after a very tough battle with cancer at the Hildegard House in Louisville, KY. She was preceded in death by her father Wallace Bateman, mother Margaret Stebbins (Gorman) and her brother Robert Bateman, all of New York. She is survived by her sister Martha Gearhart of Angola, NY, several nieces, a nephew and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Linda lived in Corydon for 18 years and worked for the Tractor Supply Co., O’Reilly’s Auto Parts and, most recently, Autozone. She loved working, her cats, nature, having a good time and was always ready to help anyone she knew. Linda donated her body to the U of L Willed Body Program so her wish was to have a memorial party during her favorite time of year - her birthday in October. A public announcement will be made for details.

Shall the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Evans-Brant (Lake Shore) Central School District (the “District”) is hereby authorized to purchase the following replacement vehicles for use by the District in the transportation of students and general use by the District: one (1) 30-passenger battery electric school bus at an estimated cost of $149,553.32; two (2) 9-passenger gasoline mobility vehicles at an estimated cost of $77,500 each; and one (1) pick-up truck with snow plow and lift gate at an estimated cost of $75,000; for a total aggregate maximum cost of $379,553.32; with such aggregate cost to be raised by a tax upon the taxable property of the District to be levied and collected in annual installments as provided in Section 416 of the Education Law, with such tax to be partially offset by State aid available therefore, and, in anticipation of such tax, by the issuance of debt obligations of the District as may be necessary, not to exceed such maximum aggregate cost. No tax levy increase is anticipated for Proposition No. 2.
