Line up for the parade will be at the Angola Fire Hall grounds at 41 Commercial Street at 9:30 AM. The Parade will start at 10:00 AM. We will march to the Forest Avenue Cemetery for special services and then back to the Angola Fire Hall grounds at 41 Commercial Street. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual School Budget Meeting (Public Hearing) for qualified district residents will be held in the Lake Shore High School Library Media Center, 959 Beach Road, Angola, New York on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.

FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual School Budget Referendum and Election for (1) approval of the Annual School District Budget for the 2024-25 School Year; (2) voting on a proposition regarding the purchase of replacement vehicles; (3) the election of two qualified district residents to the office of Member of the Board of Education; and (4) for the transaction of such other business as is authorized by law, will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., in the Lobby located outside the District Office/Gymnasium of the Lake Shore High School located at 959 Beach Road, Angola, New York 14006.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the 202425 fiscal year for school purposes, exclusive of public monies, may be obtained by any District resident beginning May 7, 2024 through and including May 21, 2024, excluding weekends and holidays, in the main office of each school building between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that all candidates for the office of Member of the Board of Education shall be nominated by petition. Each nominating petition shall be directed to the District Clerk, shall be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the District, and shall state the residence of each signer, and shall state the name and residence of the candidate. Shall the following resolution be adopted:

RESOLVED, that the budget for the Evans-Brant (Lake Shore) Central School District for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2024, and ending June 30, 2025, as presented by the Board of Educationin the amount of $66,028,196 is hereby approved and adopted and the required funds therefore are hereby appropriated and the necessary real property taxes required shall be raised by a tax on the taxable property in the District to be levied and collected as required by law. Adoption of this budget requires an anticipated 2.7% property tax increase, which does not exceed the statutory tax levy increase limit of 2.73%.

PROPOSITION NO. 2

Shall the following resolution be adopted:

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Evans-Brant (Lake Shore) Central School District (the “District”) is hereby authorized to purchase the following replacement vehicles for use by the District in the transportation of students and

general use by the District: one (1) 30-passenger battery electric school bus at an estimated cost of $149,553.32; two (2) 9-passenger gasoline mobility vehicles at an estimated cost of $77,500 each; and one (1) pick-up truck with snow plow and lift gate at an estimated cost of $75,000; for a total aggregate maximum cost of $379,553.32; with such aggregate cost to be raised by a tax upon the taxable property of the District to be levied and collected in annual installments as provided in Section 416 of the Education Law, with such tax to be partially offset by State aid available therefore, and, in anticipation of such tax, by the issuance of debt obligations of the District as may be necessary, not to exceed such maximum aggregate cost. No tax levy increase is anticipated for Proposition No. 2.

PROPOSITION NO. 3

Shall the following resolution be adopted: RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Evans-Brant (Lake Shore) Central School District (the “District”) is hereby authorized to contribute to the construction of the paved Lake Erie Multi-Use Trail (“Trail”) and new drainage infrastructure through the transfer and donation of a strip of land along the District’s property at 9455 Lake Shore Road, measuring approximately fifteen (15) feet wide and running the length of the road frontage of approximately five hundred eighty one (581) feet (“Parcel”), with such Parcel being transferred and donated to the Town of Evans and future maintenance of the Trail and drainage being the obligation of the Town of Evans and/or the County of Erie.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that applications for absentee ballots and applications for early mail ballot may be obtained Monday through Friday, except holidays, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the District Clerk’s Office located at 959 Beach Road, Angola, New York. Candidates must enter through the main entrance of the High School. Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk or her designee at least seven (7) days before the annual meeting and election (May 14, 2024) if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter or by the day before the election (May 20, 2024) if the ballot is to be issued to the voter in person. Completed absentee ballots and early mail ballots must be received by the office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 21, 2024.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that military voters who are qualified voters of the school district may apply for a military ballot. Applications for military ballots may be obtained from the District Clerk’s Office and the military voter may designate a preference to receive the application and/or the military ballot by mail, fax or email. Completed applications for military ballots must be received by the District Clerk or her designee by no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 25, 2024.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a list of all persons to whom absentee and early mail ballots are issued will be available for public inspection between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the office of the District Clerk on the five days prior to the annual meeting and election, except Sundays, and such list will be available at the polling place during the annual meeting and election. Any qualified voter may, upon examination of such list, file a written challenge of the qualifications as a voter of any person whose name appears on such list, stating the reasons for such challenge. Lake Shore CSD Transportation Supervisor Perry Oddi will receive a Leadership Award as “Supervisor of the Year” at the May 16th School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS) Region 12 Awards Dinner.

Mr. Oddi was nominated in recognition of his successful push to obtain a Federal grant for a fleet of 20 zero emissions school buses, with a projected annual savings of $15,000 per bus.

He started with Lake Shore in 2011, where he currently manages a fleet of 54 buses and is in charge of the pick up and drop off of more than 2200 students per day. Over time, he has expanded his role to include routing and busing for both the North Collins Central Schools and the Seneca Nation of Indians through a shared services model. A school transportation veteran of 28 years, Mr. Oddi was a bus driver before becoming Transportation Supervisor at Holland Central, then Gowanda Central, and now Lake Shore Central.

Regarding the bus grant, Mr. Oddi notes that they represent a “very, very long road in the making.”

“The most important thing is that we now have a growing fleet of ZERO emission vehicles – not low emission, but ZERO emission – available for our school-community,” he says. “By eliminating diesel exhaust emissions, we reduce air pollution and ground level ozone, as well as air qualityrelated illnesses and asthma. By decreasing our carbon footprint, we’re helping to preserve the health and safety of our students and staff.”

Earth Day at Southtowns Catholic School

For Earth Day on April 22nd, many of the classes at Southtowns Catholic School took part in some sort of activity to celebrate or encourage the advocacy and protection of our planet.

The Journey To Make A Difference

Angola, NY – 716SNKRS INC, a new Western New York 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has announced the launch of their program aimed at addressing the need for proper footwear and assistance with costs related to youth recreational athletics. The program will provide proper athletic footwear and registration assistance to Western New York children.

"We are excited to launch this new program to address the critical issue of kids wearing ill-fitting or improper footwear while playing the sport that they love," said Jon Singleton, Founder and President. "Improper footwear is a leading cause of injury in youth sports and the injuries can quickly become career ending. We have also recognized the financial impact that registration and tuition fees can have on some families. Through 716SNKRS INC, we hope to make a significant impact in the lives of our local kids and help them to work towards a brighter future in an unpredictable world. "

716SNKRS Inc. will offer a range of services, including providing athletes with proper fitting footwear for their given sport, no matter what it is, as well as helping to provide parents with financial assistance to offset registration or tuition fees for the said sport. They will also attend sporting events of their beneficiaries to show continued support on and off the field. The program is lead by Jon Singleton, and will be supported by his wife and a team of volunteers. The program will be funded in part by the generous support of Combat Plumbing, LLC and D’Amorie Construction.

"We love to give back and are proud to support 716SNKRS and its mission help the kids in our community," said Nora Gregoire, Manager of D’Amorie Construction. "We hope that the program will make a real difference in the lives of local families, and will give kids the confidence to move forward in their aspirations.
