In the future, she would like to work at a place that helps animals, such as a vet office or the zoo. Caydence's favorite things in the world are her pets and hanging out with family and friends. She feels that the most important traits for continued success are leadership and kindness.

Troy Russell is on team Valor and his favorite subject is Social Studies. Outside of school, Troy likes to wrestle and play football. Troy’s favorite thing in the world is football, and in the future, he would like to play football at Notre Dame. Troy believes that the most important trait for continued success is your “want to” - meaning if you know you should do something, do it.

Lola Pawlowski is on team Spirit and her favorite subjects are Art and Math. She likes to play soccer and hang out with friends outside of school. Ada Smith passed away Monday, January 23, 2023 in her Lackawanna home, she was 91. Beloved wife of the late Richard Englund. Loving mother of Richard Mark Englund, David W. Englund, Kevin R. Englund, Richard George England and William C. Smith. Sister of Dale Alguire. Also survived by many grand and great grandchildren. Arrangements entrusted to the Addison Funeral Home, Inc.

Richard L. Hazard, Sr. of Lake View, NY, passed away on January 18, 2023 at the age of 86. He was born in North Evans, NY to Richard and Lucy Hazard. He is predeceased by his siblings Shirley (Pete), Jack and Lenny. His younger brother, David, has been huge support to his brother and the family especially during the last few years and we couldn’t have handled this nearly as well without him. He is our rock. Rich is predeceased by his first wife, Jeanne Meaney whom he had five children with, Richard, Jr (Sharon), Mark (Chrissy), Donald, Bonnie and Michael. Rich is also predeceased by his second wife, Nancy Ross and has a step-son, Peter Ross (Elizabeth). He leaves behind grandchildren Jason, Rebecca (Ben), Alanna, Sierra, Christian, Corey, Brandon, and Kayla plus great-grandchildren, Nora Jean and Malickai. Rich worked in a multitude of jobs, from press operator to school bus driver. After retirement, he loved to work on small engines. Known as “Mr. Fix-It”, Rich could fix anything, or so he tried, and had every tool known to man. If he didn’t know how to fix it, he would “MacGyver” it. Rich discovered video games somewhat late in life and immediately became obsessed. He could sit for hours surrounded by his gaming gear and play his PS5 for hours, usually while his beloved Yankees were on the other screen. Unfortunately, he ran out of time and didn’t finish the quest from Elden Ring. When Rich entered home Hospice Care, he was living life on his terms. He did as he pleased and ate what he pleased. He had a special fondness for donuts, cookies and ice cream. Services will be held at a later date. A portion of a newspaper clipping from Angola Record Vol. XXI No 21 Sept 21, 1899 Whole No.1060 regarding the disastrous Farnham Fire of 1899.

The Fred Brinkman Agency, Inc. began in 1911, established by Fred J. Brinkman, who worked out of his family home located on the corner of Church and Commercial Streets in the Village of Farnham. His son Fred W. continued with the family business until his own retirement. The entire property was donated to Holy Cross Lutheran Church as per the generosity and final wishes of the Fred W. Brinkman Family. The home and barns are no longer standing, demolished only a few years ago. In this photo, the men are shown laying the water lines for the village.

A Timeline for the Town of Brant, Part 15 Continuation…

1899: September 18 - “The Great Fire of Farnham”. The following is an excerpt regarding the fire, written by Fred W. Brinkman for our 1989 Brant History Book: “The village watchman discovered the blaze which had started in Schwert’s barn and was caused by a spark from a passing locomotive. His cries awakened the sleeping residents, and a bucket brigade was formed but to no avail. The flames soon spread across the tracks to the Caul House and Brinkman’s Department Store and to about 25 small, but pretty homes built to house immigrants working at the [Erie Preserving] factory.”

1911: Pingitore’s Band is one of the popular bands in Farnham and surrounding communities.

1911: The Fred Brinkman Agency, Inc. began in 1911, established by Fred J. Brinkman. The business operated out of his home, which was located on Commercial Street in the Village of Farnham. His son Fred W. continued with the insurance business in the same location.

SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS and BUS ATTENDANTS NEEDED!

THE NORTH COLLINS CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT has an immediate need to fill permanent & substitute positions in our Transportation Department.

Bus Driver applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age have a good driving record , already have or be willing to obtain a CDL class “B” license with a P & S endorsement, pass a background check, physical and drug screen. (Options available for CDL class “C”- call for more information.) Free Paid Training to get your CDL provided to the right candidates. Bus Driver starting pay- $17.50 per hour. Bus Attendants must be a minimum of 19 years of age & pass a background check. Candidates for all positions must be dependable and enjoy working with and being around children. Our permanent positions involve working a split day: 6am-9am & 1:30pm-4pm (for example). Benefits include: paid health insurance, flexible spending account, paid sick & personal time, perfect attendance bonus, overtime availability, NYS Retirement Pension Plan. Our substitute positions allow you to pick work as it comes available. We have work available at many different times of the day including field trips, sports runs (from 3:45pm on) and even work at times on weekends. Substitutes can choose what they want to work based on what is available. Work 1 shift a week or 1 a month!
