Most Precious Blood Church and Operation Good Neighbor (OGN) would like to thank all who donated to the recent Project: Keep Evans Warm and Fed effort to provide essential warm winter clothing and food to Town of Evans residents in need. Hunger and hardship exists everywhere and our own Town is no exception. This year was again challenging due to the ongoing pandemic. There were over 700 items of warm winter clothing donated that included 550+ coats, snow pants, hats, gloves/mittens and boots Much of the clothing donated was purchased new or homemade with heartfelt intentions. The food drive collected 465 pounds of canned/dry goods that included 3 frozen turkeys. The paper goods and personal care items were numerous. Every donation no matter how small helped make this effort a success. We would like to mention that contributions from First Church of Evans, Lisa G., Rita N., Evans Home Bureau, and the woman who knitted so many hats of various sizes greatly enhanced the Project’s total. Although the Christmas Season version of Project: Keep Evans Warm and Fed is officially over, the need for more clothing, food, and paper goods still exist. Please save the following numbers and feel free to call 481-4480 or 507-6703 for any donations to be taken to OGN during the upcoming year. We have learned from OGN that once the holidays have ended, the support for those requiring assistance decreases. Lake View National Guard Soldier Receives New Rank, New Responsibilities

Major General Ray Shields, the adjutant general for the state of New York, announces the recent promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership. He is predeceased by Elizabeth (Edward) Dale, Virginia (Earle) Smith, Eleanor (Lynn) Wickham, Bernard (Elsie), John (Lora), William, Harriet Nuchereno, Marianne (Steven) Olick, Kathleen Fellner, James (Teresa), Alma (Peter) Andreana, his father and mother-in-law, James and Clarice Stubbe, and his sisterin-law Sharon (Ronald) Hettich. Kenneth worked for the Erie County Health Department for 43 years, where he retired as an administrator. He also worked as an independent jewelry setter for leading jewelry manufacturers in Buffalo, designed jewelry and owned his own business, Kendra Designs. Kenneth was a dedicated veteran of the U.S. Army. He also served his community with the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts for 10 years, and was a CCD instructor for St. Vincent de Paul Church. Arrangements entrusted to Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. Prayers at the funeral home will be held Saturday, January 29th at 10:15AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at St. John Paul II Parish, 2052 Lakeview Road, Lake View. Wayne Rose

Wayne Rose, beloved husband, father, grandfather, educator, and coach died suddenly January 21, 2022 at his home in Eden. He was 77 years old. Much of Wayne’s life revolved around his loves of art and running. He taught art at Lake Shore Central for 33 years and coached cross country there for 41 years. He earned his Master’s Degree in art education at Buffalo State College and ran on Buffalo State’s cross country team throughout his college career. In 1969, Wayne met his wife-to-be, also a teacher, at Lake Shore. They married in 1971. Wayne is survived by his wife, Julie; two children, Erik (Lauren) and Wendy (Michael); and five grandchildren, Connor, Traegan, Ayla, Lochlan, and Alexander. Also survived by two brothers, George “Sandy” (Ginny) Rose and Robert Rose, as well as numerous beloved neices and nephews. In later years, Wayne enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, passing on to them his art skills, running expertise, and interest in model railroading. He was inducted into the Hamburg Distinguished Alumni Wall of Fame in 2015 for his accomplishments as a runner, teacher, coach, and official for the Western New York Track & Field and Cross Country Officials Association. Wayne also grew up in the church and cultivated a deep faith in God. He was active in the Revive Wesleyan Church in Hamburg, and spent much time praying for those in need.
