Most Precious Blood Church and Operation Good Neighbor (OGN) would like to thank all who donated to the recent Project: Keep Evans Warm and Fed effort to provide essential warm winter clothing and food to our Town of Evans residents in need. This year was especially challenging due to the current pandemic. There were 600 items of clothing donated that included coats, snow pants, hats, gloves/mittens, scarves, boots and other miscellaneous items. Much of the clothing donated was purchased new or homemade with heartfelt intentions. The food drive collected 465 pounds of canned/dry goods, 18 pounds of baby food, 365 diapers, 115 items of paper goods and 21 personal care items. Although the Christmas Season version of Project: Keep Evans Warm and Fed is officially over, the need for more clothing, dry/canned foods, and paper goods still exists. Mudstreet School, Brant, N.Y. Circa 1909-1911

From the Old Photo Album Mudstreet School, Brant, N.Y.

In the town of Brant, on the corner of Hammond Road and Brant-Farnham Road is a white house, now a private residence, but at one time it was the school house known as the Mudstreet School. The school in its earlier days was the Dist. No. 6 School, but in the later years of its educational providing activity, was referred to as Brant School #4. This photo was emailed to us by John Hammond in December of 2019. His dad is Ivan Hammond. His grandfather was John L. Hammond and his great-grand father was George Hamond who owned a home and property on Hammond Road. Ivan Hammond attended the Brant District #6 School. Ivan is the student at the right end of the front row (from our perspective) with his hands in his pockets. Our guess is that the photo is taken around the years 1909 - 1911. Except for Ivan Hammond, the names of the remaining students in this photo are not known. However, from an 1908 Mudstreet School photo in our archives, we do find familiar family names from the surrounding community such as Juhl, Kuhlman, Sager, Pero, Borngraber, Nordblum, Winters, Falk, and Smith.
