Food and Paper Drive

Most Precious Blood Church will be conducting a drive to collect food, paper goods and personal care items to restock the shelves at Operation Good Neighbor (OGN) starting Ash Wednesday March 2 and ending Easter Sunday April 17. We have learned from OGN that each year after the Christmas Holidays the many efforts to assist those in need are not as plentiful. Making life more difficult for many this year is the pandemic and current levels of economic inflation. Consequently the goal of this effort will be to assist OGN so they can meet their increasing demand. All collections will be turned over to OGN for distribution to families in need and residing in the Town of Evans. We will accept dry and canned foods only with examples consisting of soups, cereals, pasta and vegetables. Preferred soup is chicken noodle and tomato. Baby food and disposable diapers are also in great demand. Current programs of assistance will not provide for paper goods and personal care items such as Kleenex, paper towels, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo and toilet paper. These will be collected, also.

Antonio Joseph Paradiso, Jr., 86, of Oroville, Washington, formerly of Angola, died peacefully in his sleep on February 14, 2022. He was the son of the late Antonio J. and Agnes Paradiso. Former husband of the late Minnie Murray. Tony had a strong work ethic from an early age, having worked on farms as a young teen. One of his employers, Mr. Pero, instilled knowledge about farming and commitmen, having also worked for him sticking pins at the bowling alley in Brant. Tony worked many jobs doing vegetable packing, dropper at a meat packing plant, seasonal farmworker in Florida for a time, track man for 32 years at South Buffalo Railway until retirement in 1995. Tony loved trapping, hunting and fishing, playing music on his accordion or the piano, going to the casino, cooking. Loved to dance and share a glass of wine with his very special lady friend Carolyn. Tony is survived by his loving daughter, Lacretia “Crisha” (Clay) Warnstaff; grandchildren Brandye (Luca) Diehl and Chase (Megan) Warnstaff; great-grandchildren Waylon and Claire Diehl and Olive Jo Warnstaff; brother of Grace (late Don) Romans, Daniel (late Sandra) Paradiso, Ann (Carl) Bach, Ernest (Betsy) Paradiso and Raymond Paradiso and the late Frank (Lorraine) Pasquale, John and Regina (Tony) Pericak; sisterin-law Evelyn Paradiso; brother-in-law Ray (Gale) Murray and many nieces and nephews.
