MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD FOOD AND PAPER DRIVE We have learned from Operation Good Neighbor (OGN) that each year after the Holidays the many efforts to provide food for those in need are not as plentiful.

Consequently we will be conducting a food drive to restock the Evans food pantry at OGN that will start Ash Wednesday February 26 and run through the Lenten season ending Easter Sunday April 12. We will accept dry and canned foods only with examples consisting of soups, cereals, pasta and vegetables. Preferred soup is chicken noodle and tomato. Baby food is also in great demand.

Ellen M. Price (nee Reynolds) of Derby, entered into rest March 4, 2020. In her spare time, she found simple pleasures in reading any book she could get her hands on and making many crafts. You would often catch Ellen spinning records like Bob Seger and Billy Joel. Ellen will surely be missed by those who lives were touched by her kindness. ___________

He was an Army veteran and served as a member of several local organizations. He was a man of many talents bringing his visions to life through his many projects, some complete and some in work. We all know how quickly a community becomes a family when there is a school within its borders – the results are lasting friendships and the creation of a multitude of happy memories! Faculty, students, parents, grandparents and community members involved with the Brant 1 School during its years of operation, will testify to the caring learning environment and fun atmosphere found within those walls. The “new” school building (where this photo was taken) was built in 1936 and remained open until closing in 2010. (A very sad day.) The building was later repurposed and is currently the Brant Town Hall.

March 1990 Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in Brant, N.Y.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held in March of 1990 to recognize the newly renovated historical room and just in time to honor the town’s 151st birthday which was March 25th. The room was located on the second floor of the old Brant Town Hall. This new area provided the recently formed historical society with plenty of room to hold meetings as well as collect and display various photos, maps, memorabilia, articles and information regarding the Brant and Farnham history. The Brant-Farnham Historical Society began as an offshoot of the 1989 Town of Brant Sesquicentennial Celebration and the Chartered Members of the society were: Historian Ron Pfeffer, Rose Marie DeMaria, Annette Dispence, Nina Notaro-Faltus, Patty Friend, Bill Friend, Brenda Giacchino, Jack Giacchino, Michelle Kujawinski, Dr. Dan Kujawinski, Leah Mirusso, Dr. Anna Martorana, Angela Pero and Maggie White.

Once the proper form is completed, it should be submitted to the District's Transportation Office located at 8710 North Main Street, Angola, NY 14006.

This announcement has been published to alert parents of such students, or prospective students, to inquire as to the procedure to be used if they are not clear relative to the required April 1 annual transportation request filing deadline.

The “Bloomer Girls” vs “The Rinkie Dinks” January 12, 1957

This fun Angola N.Y. history reminder was provided to us by Town of Evans resident Fred Carstens. The Evans Journal newspaper clipping from January 10, 1957 tells us the following tale as it relates to the photo: “This Saturday, Jan. 12, [1957] will make local basketball history, for that’s the night the Bloomer Girls play the Rinkie Dinks. The heavily-favored Bloomer team is composed of Pat Klumpp, Marlene Frawley, Phyl Peacock, Jean Stankovic, Millie Frawley, Lois LaWare, Sally Barone and Sally Corcoran. The Rinkie Dink lineup includes such exgreat stars as Louie Leone, Red Carstens, Frank Notaro, Dick McDonald, Fred Carstens and Franklin Drago.

John K. Thompson, Supervisor of the Town of Evans, will toss up the ball to start the game. The Angola Fire Department Drum Corps will play during the half. All members of the Junior Police Boys Club of Evans will be admitted free of charge. The game will be played at the new Lake Shore Central School on Beach Rd. and will begin at 7:30.
