During the current COVID -19 situation the Building Department will continue to operate in the same manner as always. Keeping in mind, that we are complying with all current regulations to protect our employees and the public from the spread of COVID-19.

Republic Services garbage and recycling crews are working diligently to continue to serve the Town’s residents with curbside collection services while experiencing an increase in volume of household trash. To protect garbage and recycling essential workers in the midst of the current COVID-19 Pandemic. At this time, we ask you do the following:

In anticipation of the warmer weather with residents doing Spring yard clean up, the Town of Evans has open the “Leaves and Grass Clippings” drop station at the Evans Town Park (Beachside) for Town of Evans residents only. Please do not leave containers, plastic or paper bags, etc.

1. NO garbage outside of bags and/or cans (anything else will be left at the curb) 2. NO recycling outside of recycling cart container (anything else will be left at the curb) 3. SUSPENDED – No Yard Waste Collection (Grass Clippings and Leaves) -- even if in garbage can. *See page 3 for details. Note: Branches, sticks and/or twigs can be placed by the street where they will be picked up by the Town of Evans Highway Department. 4. SUSPENDED – No Bulk Waste Collection

• Obtain Form: All forms can be found on the Town website under the Building Department Web page. • Fill out form(s) & place it in the drop box located at the Town Clerk entrance with all supporting documentation. Forms can also be emailed to jrenaldo@townofevans.org OR submitted online at https://ips.egov.basgov.com/ evans/parcelsearch.aspx (when using the online system, only put the house number in the system, leave the street name blank) • Permits are good for one (1) year and can be renewed • WHEN IN DOUBT CALL THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT

Inspections are still required! • If you already have a permit, your permit will have a list of inspections that are required, and there will also be a list of inspections on the rear of the window permit placard. • Please call the building department, (549-5753) or email (jrenaldo@townofevans.org), to schedule your inspection. If you have to leave a message or send an email, please state your name and the property address where the inspection is being requested along with your phone number, and what inspection is needed. • Please be patient and give the inspector enough lead time to complete the inspection.

Mr. and Mrs. Beuzenburg celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1930 Brant, N.Y.

A few years back, town of Brant residents MaryEllen and Larry Beuzenburg shared with us a 1930 newspaper clipping regarding the 50th wedding anniversary of Larry’s grandparents; Jacob and Sarah Beuzenburg. The couple were wed on June 17th in the year of 1880. We do not have the name of the news source, howMr. and Mrs. Jacob Beuzenburg on ever, this almost 90 year their 50th Wedding Anniversary old article provides us with 1930, Brant, N.Y. the following information: “BRANT, N.Y., June 28 - Celebration of the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Beuzenburg took place at their home at Brant, New York, on Tuesday.” “… the anniversary ceremony was solemnized by their son, Clarence Beuzenburg, who is justice of the peace, officiating.” `The article continues with: “Mr. Beuzenburg was born in Holland in 1857, coming to this country when 16 years of age and settling at Dunkirk. Mrs. Beuzenburg (nee Sarah Miller), who is three years younger than her husband, was born at Sheridan where she resided until her marriage. For 50 years the couple have lived in the same town, where Mr. Beuzenburg is regarded as a pioneer in the field of garden farming. He tells of the day when wages of five dollars a month were given. He is one of the directors of the Evans National Bank at Angola and takes an active interest in its affairs. He retired some years ago and lives at the homestead at Brant. Mr. and Mrs. Beuzenburg have four children living and three dead and have four grandchildren.” `A “1909 ATLAS OF ERIE COUNTY NEW YORK” lists the Beuzenburg Homestead as located in lot 51 of the Town of Brant and consisting of 81 acres. It was referred to as the “Brant Center Fruit Farm”. `We would like to add that the photographer of the portrait photos of 1892 and 1893 was: B.R. Gifford at 223 & 225 Center Street in Dunkirk, N.Y. Beloved husband of 61 years of Eleanor (nee Lerczak) Byrne; devoted father of Jacqueline (Thomas Hare) Byrne, Michael Byrne and Deirdre (Thomas) Heltz; cherished grandfather of Jacob, Ethan, Benjamin and Olivia Heltz and Lauren Byrne; son of the late Dennis and Beatrice Byrne of Auburn, NY. John was a member of the NYS Police, Organized Crime Task Force and enjoyed a long retirement. An Army veteran and career public servant, he always put others before himself, guided, protected, encouraged and helped his family and others he encountered no matter how dire or unpleasant the circumstances. Family was his passion and joy, he has left them an excellent example of true servant leadership guided by empathy, kindness and love. A celebration of John’s life will be held privately.
