Joseph F. Pezzimenti

Joseph F. Pezzimenti formerly of Angola, NY. Passed away Friday August 9, 2019 in Hope Health Care Hospice of Ft. Myers Florida he was 93. Beloved husband of the late Carrie Pezzimenti; loving father of Frank Pezzimenti. This is a tribute to a great man who recently passed at 93--Joseph Pezzimenti. He was widely known around the Angola area having moved here in 1958. As a pioneer in the early days of Evans he pushed for basic improvements on Kennedy Ave such as street lights, gas and city water. In spite of a severe disability stemming from a WWII injury he had a strong work ethic and kept busy with odd jobs including his passion for antique cars(like his 37 LaSalle) and could be seen tinkering with cars at Hank Pinto’s garage and later at the Derby Body shop. Additionally he volunteered daily for 10 years at the Lake shore Nursing Home where his wife was a resident. He worked so hard and was so well liked and respected that he was honored with a Volunteer of the Year award and dinner. He always gave 110% Personally he was an eternal optimist, kind, patient, caring, dedicated, loyal, always a smile and most of all self sacrificing. He did whatever he could to help others and provided so tirelessly for his wife and son. As a result of his lifelong injury and other disabilities he suffered but with a stoic grace and rarely a complaint. That’s just the kind of man he was. I’m proud to be his son and proud to call him my friend, companion, teacher and my Dad. You will be forever missed and forever loved. DiPietro Announces Library Funding

Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C,I-East Aurora) is pleased to announce three libraries in the 147th AD will be receiving funding from the State Education Department Public Library Construction Project. The Angola Public Library in Erie County will be receiving funding for a roof replacement. The Stevens Memorial Library in Wyoming County will be receiving funds to assist in interior renovations, and the Warsaw Public Library in Wyoming County will be receiving interior and exterior renovations which include updating the sidewalks. “I’m very pleased with the attention our local libraries are receiving,” DiPietro said. “The magic of reading is something we should help everyone have access to and our libraries are central to keeping the spread of knowledge alive and well. Brant and Farnham’s Oldest Citizen

Josephine Battaglia was announced as the town of Brant’s Oldest Citizen at the16th Annual Brant Summer Festival held on Father’s Day weekend. (We advertised to be sure we got it right this year!) Josephine was unable to attend the Summer Festival, however just a few weeks later we personally delivered the “Oldest Citizen” pin and ribbon to her at her home. Josephine, born in Farnham, N.Y. celebrated her 97th Birthday on July 6th, 2019. She is also the oldest citizen in the village of Farnham. Josephine stays quite busy with family and friends, church and numerous activities which include playing cards and golf. She is a member of the Brant-Farnham Historical Society, enjoys feeding all the birds in Farnham and is an amazing jigsaw puzzle expert! Judging the Brant Summer Festival Parade

It was definitely a damp Father’s Day, but our Brant Summer Festival parade judges never lost their smiles. We are ever grateful that these terrific ladies sat through the soggy weather to help us out again this year! Our judges were (LR) Mary K. Hosler (Supervisor of Evans), Karen Erickson (local business woman and former Evans Councilwoman) and Jackie Hoisington (Farnham Village Clerk-Treasurer). From the Old Photo Album The Farnham Elementary School 1952

The Farnham Elementary School (District #5) was located on the corner of Rt. 5 (Erie Road) and Commercial Street in the village of Farnham, N.Y. (Where the Dollar General store is today; kitty-corner to the landmark “water tower”.) The year of the photo is 1952. Note that the area speed limit is posted as 30 MPH. Look closely to see the school faculty cars parked in the lot (today’s classic cars!) and the playground area to the far side of the fenced in area. You can also see St. Anthony’s church from this view and a few of the nearby village homes. Mrs. Judy Smith of Evans had attended the Farnham School and she recalls being able to roller skate in the school! Sounds like fun! Contributed by Brant- Farnham Historical Society __________

Medaille College has named the following students to the Dean’s List for the spring 2019 semester. Students that meet the requirements of a minimum of 12 credit hours and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for all credit hours carried during that semester are placed on the Dean’s List.
