Redemption Project

Tired of the hassle and mess from returning cans and bottles for their deposit? Would you like to contribute to a community service provider who seeks to help its own neighbor first? Both can be accomplished by donating your deposit from can and bottle returns at the Green Zone at 8550 Erie Rd. in Angola and mention that your collection is for Most Precious Blood Church. MPB has been serving our community for over 150 years and is looking for ways to raise funds to continue serving. The Green Zone will accept your bottle/can returns with minimal effort on your part. Cans and plastic bottles only need to be bagged. Glass bottles are required to be in their original container or cardboard box. No counting required. Just drop off your collected items at the counter and inform them that your collection is for Most Precious Blood Church. All of the money collected from the deposit will go directly to MPB as a donation.

Vote on Local Law #6- Amending Chapter 50 of the Village Code of the Village of Angola to repeal Chapter 50-1; 50-2; 50-3; 50-4; 50-5. Said local law will allow consumption of alcoholic beverages in or upon sidewalk, street, highway, parking lot, public park or such other public places.

Judith Ellen Schindler (Williams)

Judith Ellen Schindler (Wil liams) of the Cattaraugus Seneca Territory, passed away September 27 2022, at the Salamanca Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, she was 74. The daughter of the late Myra Rita (Snow) Williams and Basil George Williams. She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation, Wolf Clan. Judith was a graduate of Gowanda High School 1965. After graduation she attended Ithaca University, later receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree and a Second Bach elor of Education from SUNY Fredonia. She also spent a sum mer studying native arts at the Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Throughout her career she was devoted to education and ad vancement of Iroquois culture working with both youth and adult learners. The expression of her arts was evident in all her teachings. She served as an auxiliary for Iroquois Legion Post #1587 she was a dedicated member of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Irving. She was married to Cyrus Martin Schindler Jr. from April 25th, 1970, to May 10th, 1991. Judith is survived by four daughters, Anna Louise (Wallace) Ward, Chrissy Marie Schindler, Jea nette Lee Schindler, Julie Lynn (Herbert) Farner; eleven grand children, Heather Eileen Ward, Brian Basil Ward, Jeffery Seton Maracle, Symone Olivia Mara cle, Lylla Carole Schindler, Mat thew Dean Valliere Jr., Jordan Elizabeth Valliere, Basil Brady Valliere, Jack Cyrus Thomp son, Cyrus Wayne Farner and Wayne Martin Farner; three great grandchildren, Lailynne Anna Tarnowski, Hazel Rae Val liere and Bryson Basil Valliere. She also survived by two sisters Kathleen Ann Williams, Agnes Fay Williams and numerous nieces and nephews. Judith is predeceased by her sister Jane Louise Williams. Judy was an Artist and lover of all forms of artist expression. She was a

member of the Friends of Na tive Roots Artist Guild. Her unique corn husk dolls high lighted many aspects of Seneca culture. Judy’s work has been displayed at SUNY Fredonia, Ganondagan, and Seneca Gam ing Properties and in Documen taries. She was an intellectual and enjoyed having discussions about history, culture and gene alogy. She most loved talking about her daughter’s and grand children’s accomplishments. Kim A. Gaylord, age 68, of Ir ving, NY, passed away unex pectedly on Friday afternoon Sept. 16, 2022 at his home in Sunset Bay. He is the son of the late Kenneth E. and Eliza beth J. (Russo) Gaylord. Kim is survived by his loving wife, Karen (Halbig) Gaylord; a son, Ray (Tina) Halbig; two grand children; Matthew and Brittany Halbig; four great-grandchil dren; a brother-in-law, Robert H. Glende; a sister-in-law, Pa tricia M. Gaylord; a niece, Amy (Eric) Glende and a nephew, Timothy (Nancy) Gaylord. He is predeceased by a brother, Lawrence A. Gaylord and a sister, W. Jeanne Glende. Kim was a 1972 graduate of Eden High School and worked for WNYDDSO caring for the de velopmentally disabled. He had a number of hobbies including woodworking, creative writing, cooking especially on the grill and finding a “treasure” at ga rage sales.
