The Apple Season in Brant, NY
Mike and Imogene (Colvin) Walters lived on the Milestrip Road near the corner of Hammond Road in Brant, N.Y. Their children were Max, Lynn and Ruthe. Lynn (born in Brant in 1891), became a photographer and this is one of his many photos. It appears that the family along with some relatives, neighbors or workers are grading apples and packing them for transport to market. We do recognize some in the photo: Far left, closing the barrel lid with a hammer is Max. Front and center of the photo, facing the camera and kneeling is Mike. To Mike’s right, inspecting the mountain of apples is his grandson Lynn and to the farthest right is Imogene (Colvin) Walters. This photo is part of a collection of Lynn E. Walters photos which were donated to the historical society a few years ago by Jeanne Treat. We thought it was fitting for this fall season!
