Evans - 2022 Community Events - Music Nights
We hope that everyone enjoyed the “Music Nights” held on Thursday nights this past summer. The Evans Commu nity Events Committee, co-chaired by Councilwoman Lau rie Reitz and Community Volunteer Katherine Nytz, felt it was important that the events be held at a few different venues within the boundaries of the Town of Evans. Four of the eight concerts were held at the Sturgeon Point Ma rina, two at the Evans Town Park, one at Lake Erie Beach Fire Hall and another at the North Evans Fireman’s Park.
The summer schedule kicked off with a “Hometown He roes Night” on June 30th at the Evans Town Park with the patriotic music of the “198th Army Brass Band Six”. On July 7th we heard the music of Big Daddy Rich at Sturgeon Point Marina. Zach Gerken performed at Lake Erie Beach Fire Hall on July 14th, and then again at the Sturgeon Point Marina on August 11th. On July 28th it was Joe Atti at Sturgeon Pont Marina and on August 4th we had the music of Bill Smith at the North Evans Fireman’s Park. Finishing up the month of August was Tom Nowcien at the Evans Town Park on August 18th and Big Daddy Rich at the Stur geon Point Marina on August 25th. Each of the Thursday “Music Nights” were well attended, and the performers were incredible and entertaining! It has been a busy and fun summer!

Lake Shore Central Appoints New HS Assistant Principal
At its Sept. 20th meet ing, the Lake Shore Board of Education approved the appointments of a new assistant principal at the High School. Julie E. Schwab’s appointment be comes effective Sept. 22.
Previously, she was Superintendent at En terprise Charter School where she handled cur riculum, instruction and school improvement programs, as well as budgeting and finance. Her background also in cludes serving as coordinator of professional development/ chief information officer at Grand Island Schools, and posi tions in the Silver Creek school district where she started as Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Technology Cur riculum, and later was named Middle School Principal and Curriculum/Instruction Coordinator. Prior to her Silver Creek positions, she was Principal at Elma Primary/Marilla Primary in the Iroquois School District. She also has served as a consultant in various capacities to Enterprise Charter School, Silver Strong and Associates, SMH Associates, Dae men College and New Directions Institute.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary and spe cial education from Buffalo State College and her master’s in early childhood education from Nazareth College. She re ceived her certification in collaborative literacy intervention in reading from Arizona State University. Her certification as a school district administrator is from SUNY Buffalo and her certification in the superintendent development pro gram is from Oswego State.
She is the recipient of several grants and was named the 2010 Outstanding Educational Leader by WNY Women in Education.
