Lake Shore Central Schools Transportation Project Completed For bus drivers and others in the Lake Shore Central Schools’ transportation department, it was a very welcome end to a very long journey. After months of reconstruction to replace bus bays, and improve traffic configuration and outdated facilities, it was time for a staff Open House to celebrate the conclusion of this part of the district’s Capital Project. Campus Construction Management provided breakfast pizza, fresh fruit, juice and coffee for drivers and bus aides between runs. Transportation supervisor Perry Oddi took a few moments to thank all involved in the project, including staff for their patience during the disruption of construction. With life settling back to normal, the drivers were soon back on the road. The district’s 54 DOT-certified vehicles transport more than 2800 public and non-public school students daily, traveling nearly 5,000 miles to 37 different schools. The Sun Shines on the Evans Senior Center

On Oct 10 the Evans Senior Center had a Solar Presentation put on Bill Henry, Solar Liberty, Councilwoman Jeanne Macko, the Friends and Neighbors Advocating Better Green Living organization and a representative from NYSERDA. Mr. Henry presented his data on his home’s Solar Photo Voltaic system which was installed 12 years ago. His monthly Electric Bill has averaged $18.85 since the Solar system was installed. Also showcased were other Solar PV systems within the Town such as Goya, Cradle Beach, Community Concern, the Stout residence, and the Evans Senior Center in which Councilwoman Macko highlighted the savings to the Town. Solar Liberty and NYSERDA informed the public on the many ways you can add Solar to your home or Business as well as other programs available to low income families. At the end of presentation Solar Liberty & Mr. Henry presented a $250 check to the Senior director Veronica Yeager for a donation for a referral Mr. Henry would have received, but wanted this money to go to the Senior’s instead and Solar Liberty graciously agreed. Seneca Health Care Center Honors Anderson for 30 Years of Service

The McGuire Group’s Seneca Health Care Center in West Seneca is pleased to announce that Kristine Anderson, RN, BSN, RAC, of Angola celebrated her 30year anniversary with the company. As the director of nursing, Anderson is responsible for the oversight of all nursing staff as well as implementation of nursing practices and care routines. In addition, she monitors and upholds compliance with federal and state regulations, standards of care and quality measures. Anderson has been employed with the organization for 30 years and has held roles at several of its Western New York facilities. She began her career as a certified nursing assistant at Autumn View Health Care Facility in Hamburg where she also served as a team leader, unit coordinator, MDS coordinator, MDS associate, assistant director of nursing and director of education. She has worked at Garden Gate Health Care Facility in Cheektowaga as the director of nursing and at Seneca Health Care Center as the assistant director of nursing. Mrs. Anderson earned an associate degree from Erie Community College and a bachelor of science in nursing from American Sentinal University. She is a member of Hamburg Moose and AANAC, American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination. The Angola Public Library Awards “Ticket to Read” Prize!

For her participation in the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library “Ticket to Read” program, Kerrigan Biastre was awarded a $50 Amazon gift card by the Angola Public Library. The “Ticket to Read” program was a reading event that ran all summer at all 37 library branches in the county. Teens ages 13-17 were encouraged to participate. Only one winner is drawn at the county level. Kerrigan entered by filling out a ticket for every book read during the summer months. Her entries were submitted at the Angola Public Library. Kerrigan is 13 and an 8th grade student at the Eden Jr-Sr High School. She loves to read and her favorite authors are Jenny Han and Jennifer Niven. She also enjoys playing the piano, violin and spending time with her friends. Kerrigan sees herself working in the medical field after graduation. She is the daughter of Re’ and Deborah Biastre.
