Tired of the hassle and mess from returning cans and bottles for their deposit? Would you like to contribute to a community service provider who seeks to help its own neighbor first? Both can be accomplished by donating your deposit from can and bottle returns at the Green Zone at 8550 Erie Rd. in Angola and mention that your collection is for Most Precious Blood Church. MPB has been serving our community for over 150 years and is looking for ways to raise funds to continue serving. The Green Zone will accept your bottle/can returns with minimal effort on your part. Cans and plastic bottles only need to be bagged. Glass bottles are required to be in their original container or cardboard box. No counting required. Just drop off your collected items at the counter and inform them that your collection is for Most Precious Blood Church. All of the money collected from the deposit will go directly to MPB as a donation.

Focus on Evans - 201 Years 1821-2022 The B&E Trolley Line
While reading through the post card books on loan to us from the Bill Haberer Estate, we happened across quite a few photos of the Buffalo and Lake Erie Traction Company. (It was also referred to as the B&E Trolley Line.) The line carried passengers back and forth between Buffalo, NY and Erie, PA and various stops along the route. One of the photos we found is of trolley car #503 for Buffalo, stopped at the Central Hotel located on Commercial Street in the village of Angola. We also discovered an unused “Employee’s Trip Pass” number 8001. According to the ticket, it is “Good only on Date Punched and Between Stations Punched”. These two items tie in nicely with this year’s Erie County Fair display of both the Evans and Brant’s Historical Societies. (Evans graciously invited Brant to participate.) The theme was Transportation. An enthusiastic team of society members and friends was guided and encouraged by Evans Historical Society member Giff Swyers. In the beginning stages, Mr. Swyers prepared an amazing outline of what would be important to include in the display. His ideas generated much enthusiasm among all involved and when the display was completed, the Erie County Fair judges determined that the exhibit deserved ribbons of “First Place” and “Best in Show”! We have recently noticed that there is much confusion among residents regarding drainage issues within our town. We do not want any residents to be misled about who is tasked with rectifying your issues. To mitigate any confusion, please contact the Evans Highway Department directly so we can assess your concerns or provide the correct information to you if it is not our jurisdiction. As a new Highway Department administration, we have a general ditch maintenance plan that we will continue to hone in on as time progresses and as concerns are brought to our attention. The Deputy Highway Superintendent and I will discuss all issues and will notify you when we come to a determination or when projects are completed. Below is a general encapsulation of who you should expect to contact for some common drainage issues.
