During the period of November 1 through December 19 Most Precious Blood Church will again collect winter clothing, non-perishable foods and paper goods to assist residents in the Town of Evans The current pandemic has affected many of our neighbors where loss of jobs and income, loss of housing and even loss of life have all been by-products. Like last year, Most Precious Blood Church’s yearly warm clothing drive Project Keep Evans Warm will include a food and paper drive. The goal of this combined effort will be to assist Operation Good Neighbor (OGN) meet their increasing demand. All collections will be turned over to OGN for distribution to families in need and residing in the Town of Evans free of charge. For warm clothing we will accept winter coats, gloves, boots and hats in all sizes, colors and styles. Children’s sizes are very popular. We ask that any clothing donated be clean for wear. For food we will accept dry and canned foods whose shelf life has not expired. Examples consist of soups, cereals, pasta and vegetables. Baby food is in great demand. Current programs of assistance will not provide for paper goods such as Kleenex, paper towels and toilet paper so these will be collected, also. This is the Project’s 8th year and each year requests for assistance far exceeds what can be collected. This can easily be a community effort and we encourage all work places, churches, volunteer fire departments and schools to participate and directly work with OGN or you can call 481-4480 or 507-6703 to arrange for pick-up of any items donated. That wizard they were expecting wasn't quite what Dorothy and her friends had envisioned... but for the audience, all expectations were met, and exceeded, in three outstanding performances of "The Wizard of Oz" from Lake Shore High School's Art, Music and Theater departments. The winning ticket for the S.H.A.R.E. quilt raffle, was drawn on October 11, 2021 at their monthly meeting. Alan Nolan, a resident of the Brant and Farnham community drew the winning ticket. The lucky winner was Marion Berns of Brant, New York. Marion and her husband David are pictured in the photo. The blue & white David and Marion Berns were queen size quilt was winners of the Quilt Raffle held made by some members by the S.H.A.R.E. group of of the Eden Quilt Guild. Brant and Farnham, N.Y. S.H.A.R.E. (Sending Help a Relief Effort) is an organization, comprised of three churches in the Town of Brant, which has been raising funds for disaster relief. The churches involved are Holy Cross Lutheran, St. Anthony’s and Parish of our Lady. Our group was originally established to provide help to the victims of the tornado, which hit the central United States in 2011. Following that time, the funds raised have helped our local neighbors who are in need due to illness, accidents, fire, family hardships or other catastrophes. Since inception, our small group has raised and distributed more than $10,000.00 to help others. S.H.A.R.E. has held several fundraising events so as to be able to have funds available to assist those in the time of a disaster. Fundraisers have included Theme Basket Raffles at the Brant Summer Festivals, 50/50 Raffles at the Farnham Monday Night Concerts, an Old Fashioned Card Party, Amish Rocker Raffle, tickets for overnight stay at White Inn, Fredonia including dinner and a show at the Fredonia Opera House and as mentioned earlier Quilt Raffles.
