October Fund Raising Efforts Abound By Bryan Harrison

Funding for the Cat Rescue The Mountain House Feral Cat Rescue opened the month with their fourth annual Silent Auction and Raffle event Saturday, October 3, 2015. The extremely blustery windstorm that hit not just Mountain House that evening but all of Northern California was no match for the commitment by supporters of this local non-profit, as folks stuck it out for the duration. Music by up and coming Central Valleybased band, Brokenote Undertone, set a good party tone. Local band, calling themselves Mohooligans filled out the evening's festivities.

This kind of amazing support will allow our group to do a lot more work in the coming year," stated MHFCR President Jackie Lacaze Dekker.

"We are so thankful for everyone who donated, and all the folks who came out to bid on items to support our cause," said MHFCR Event & Community Outreach Coordinator, Patricia Harrison. TNR program (Trap, Neuter, Return)

In response to the recent crime spree that's come to town, San Joaquin County Sheriff Steve Moore released a bulletin calling for Mountain House residents to "stay vigilant in terms of reporting any suspicious activity, vehicles and/or persons to the Sheriff’s Office". Call the non-emergency line at 209-468-4400 with any concerns or information.

Having reached an impasse in their contract negotiation talks, the two sides have entered into a mediation process to hopefully find some common ground.

So many causes, so little time! October was a pretty amazing month on various fund raising efforts within Mountain House.

a Wildcats Festival & Walk-a-thon. The end result was a phenomenal fund raising effort, bringing in more than $30,000 October 10, 2015.

WSF Fund Raising Committee Chair, Vicki Beckman, expressed her team's delight. "The real question mark," she said, "was how successful would the Walk-a-Thon be since it was so different than walks in the past. WSF is very proud of the more than $32,000 the walk made, 75% of which went straight to the classrooms with the rest covering the cost of the event." A Neighborhood Watch meeting was called November 5th at the Fire House Community Room. The room was packed well beyond its stated 45 capacity, closer to 60 - with about as many more standing outside the door.

Longtime deputy to Mountain House, and San Joaquin County Sheriff's Lieutenant, Phillip George was on-hand to update concerned residents and answer questions.

He stated that there have been 17 burglaries in Mountain House since the beginning of this fiscal year, July 1st. He went on to state that the uptick in crime occurred in September and October. continued page 7
