As the new school year gets into full swing, enjoy some highlights from the 2017 Graduating class’ Sober Grad Night!

What an amazing night! The second annual MHHS Sober Grad Night was hosted by the 2017 Senior Parent Committee. The students of MHHS didn’t expect to have such a fantastic time!

After their graduation, the goal was to send them off safely with unforgettable memories.

This night would not have been possible without our dedicated parents and volunteers who worked and planned throughout the school year to provide our graduates a night to celebrate.

It was a night filled with games, great food, music, dancing, and great company. There were also many raffle prizes that included a laptop, PS4 game console, GoPro, television, printer, cameras, several gift cards, bikes, skate boards, gift baskets, and much more.

informing them that the documents for the project are “consistent with master plan” and that this project is a significant first step and cornerstone of what will become the Mountain House Town Center.

“I’m ecstatic to see this” stated Commission Chair, Kitty Walker. Funderburg then made an official recommendation to the board for approval at this time.

Steve Lovell, principal architect at Field Paoli, provided insight into the extensive planning that has gone into both the library design and the Town Hall. “The Library is an open plan concept,” he informed the board. “It includes a Quiet Room space for the otherwise open, lovely, active space,” he said. He also said that the 21,000 square foot design will accommodate the town even at full build-out”.

Lowell continued, explaining the two-story layout of the town hall structure. The Town Hall will include space for a temporary sheriff’s sub-station. Ultimately, a separate police

station will be built in the town center area.

Dave Sargent, project lead for Mountain House Developers, LLC, shared that his company is commissioned to build that station when the town reaches 7,500 rooftops, by which time the Community Services District will more than likely need the town hall space for their own growth. The commissioners had numerous questions for Lowell, all with clear intention to do their due diligence.

Ed Pattison spoke eloquently to the commission board about the need for this project. He began by describing Mountain House and its beauty, adding that the building of the town “is about 10 years behind, due primarily to the recession”. He shared with the board the real need for a place for residents to go, have gatherings and generally have a level of amenity befitting the master plan. This complex, he added, will serve as one of two bookends that really represent the town center, along with the grocery store on the other end.

and wind power. Pattison said that while they would love to go that route, it’s not currently a cost-effective option. “We will continue to look at that, though,” he assured. He went on to say that the plans have been put together with pursuing LEED-type green building standards, though they don’t have budget to actually become LEED Certified.

“With patience comes beauty and permanence,” he stated at the end of his comments.

With that, Commission Chair Walker expressed her delight with the plans, and the fact the Mountain House is finally able to move on this. Commissioner Stan Morri made the motion to approve. Shane Rawlings seconded, and the board of four approved unanimously.

“I’m really excited for you guys!” Walker said with a big smile.

Community Development Department Director, Kerry Sullivan, stated that any objections to this ruling would need to have been made no later than September 18, 2017 by 5pm.

No further approvals are needed for this project, Dave Sargent stated to MH Matters after the hearing. “We can move forward with getting permits to build.”

Sargent, and likely Pattison, will return for another Public Hearing before the Planning Commission Thursday, October 5, 2017, seeking approval for the Town Center plans (see adjacent article). Unlike the library/ town hall complex, those plans will then also require approval from the County Board of Supervisors before proceeding, assuming the Planning Commission gives a thumbs-up.

A detailed map, released by the San Joaquin County Community Development Department September 16th, provides specifics not previously released. Individual tracts are numbered and the streets have now all been named.

Embracing the Italianate style embedded into the master plan, Mountain House Developers, LLC chose street names such as Giotto, Raphael and Vivaldi Streets.

“We wanted to add to the overall feel of the theme with the street names,” stated Project Manager, David Sargent.

The overall project is large in scope. San Joaquin County Community Development Principal Planner, John Funderburg, outlined what all the plan entails, along with the map release.

“The project consists of a Master Plan Amendment (PA-1700002), a Specific Plan I Amendment (PA-1700003), a Specific Plan II Amendment (PA-1700004),” he stated, “and a Specific Plan III Amendment (PA-1700005).

residents have been looking forward to easier access in and out of town”.

President Lucid focused on the potential for public transportation. “RTD will be happy to have access from the college into town, as was discussed when we had them out for that town hall meeting earlier this year,” he said.

The intersection, which was actually opened for access days before, features a four-way stop that more readily connects access to the Delta College South Campus at Mountain House, in addition to providing a quicker reach for most in town to Altamont Road, and the Bay Area, generally.

Ultimately, Grant Line Rd is scheduled to be widened to four lanes at least from Mountain House Parkway west to the county line. That project is anticipated to happen by next Spring.

Changes to the town center have been at the forefront of what turned into a longer process than initially anticipated. From town hall-style community meeting to gather resident input on the project beginning in late 2013, to delays due to negotiations over a major throughway street change, and whether a new Environmental Impact Report was necessary, further delayed the project.

Even assuming the Planning Commission signs off on this latest map - which does appear a likely outcome - final approval will then have to come from the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors, hopefully before the end of the year. In all likelihood, that will be little more than a formality, as well. District 5 Supervisor, Bob Elliott, has stated repeatedly his support for getting things moving for the residents of Mountain House. While nothing is guaranteed, the liklihood of his fellow Supervisors complying appears great.

TREE MAINTENANCE MR Article 4 Section 4.2 (B) Landscaping- Street Tree Trimming

Each Owner shall maintain the landscaping and Improvements on such Owner’s Lot in a neat and attractive manner, including any landscaped strip of land located between the sidewalk and the street located adjacent to such Lot (“Park Strip”), except for any portion of the landscaping maintained by the MHCSD or other governmental entity. All grass, mass plantings, and other plantings shall be mowed, pruned, trimmed, fertilized, and cut as necessary at reasonable regular intervals, all trees shall be properly maintained and irrigation systems shall be maintained in good operating order and properly used to irrigate the Landscaping.

• Those trees that have overextended, dead, and unsightly branches, shall be pruned and trimmed. Damage from wind, etc., shall be repaired.

• All trees shall be pruned and trimmed only as necessary to maintain their natural form. Trees shall not be topped, “hat racked”, “lolly-popped”, sheared or pruned in any manner which alters the natural growth habit of the tree unless such pruning is to achieve a particular design intent as described in this Guidelines Document.

• Trees shall be pruned to maintain a central leader and to remove branches which form narrow crotches. Prune trees to develop permanent scaffold branches which have a radial orientation and do not overlay one another. All suckers shall be continually removed from trees.

• All trees that are located adjacent to street and/or sidewalks shall be pruned and trimmed as necessary to maintain a height clearance of 8 ft. over sidewalks, 12 ft. over local streets, and 14 ft. over collector and/or arterials for vehicle and pedestrian safety. Corrective pruning to remove rubbing and cross branch ing shall be completed while the plant material is dormant.

Pruned branches may be painted for protection.

• All trees that are located adjacent to street and/or sidewalks shall be pruned and trimmed as necessary to maintain a height clearance of 8 ft. over sidewalks, 12 ft. over local streets, and 14 ft. over collector and/or arterials for vehicle and pedestrian safety.

• Inspect each tree on a continuing basis for broken branches, cross branches, damage from mowing equipment, etc.

• All corrective pruning and surgery shall be carried out immediately.

• Perform “same-day” clean-up of all pruned and trimmed material and dispose of this material off site.

Music In The Park Concert Series Wraps with Country Rockin’ Rachel Steel

Country Rocker, Rachel Steel, and her band, Road 88, brought their brand of rock and country to the final Mountain House Music In The Park event of the season Saturday, September 16, 2017.

Beautiful September weather welcomed a large crowd that effectively filled the concert bowl and surrounding areas in Central Park.

Following a brief break to adjust some technical difficulties in their first set, Road 88 and Ms. Steel set about delivering a lively and wide array of material, ranging from straight-up country to songs like Superstition, Jessie’s Girl, and other radio hits.

A jovial crowd came to enjoy the music, the scene, and the chance to relax and party a bit.

Organizer, Angel Lamb, brought in numerous food vendors, and others, and indicated her pleasure with the turnout.

AB-758 Mandate Is Now For Connector Rail System to BART continued from page 1

head-on at their September 19, 2017 board meeting. The evening included an agenda item focused moving forward with AB-758, an effort to fast-track a viable solution to ease commute traffic.

Introduced by Assemblymember Susan Eggman, and co-authored with Catherine Baker, AB-758 is designed to push through construction of a connector public rail system that will take commuters from San Joaquin County to BART. What has long seemed nothing more than a pipe-dream in most circles, this bill calls for a new Joint Powers Authority (JPA) between municipalities in Alameda County and San Joaquin County tasked with developing a plan within an 18 month stretch to begin to build what’s being referred to as the DMU/EMU Regional Connection (Diesel Mobile Unit/Electric Mobile Unit).

The plan, which does not wait on the hope of BART’s extension to Livermore, “... seeks to develop a cost-effective connection between the ACE train and BART,” stated Ms. Eggman.

“This is a problem that has impacts on the San Joaquin Valley and the Bay Area alike - two regions quickly becoming a mega-region,” she added. “We can and must do better and with interregional cooperation, we will.”

Tracy Mayor Pro-Tem, Veronica Vargas, has been at the forefront of the task-force, as the Working Group Chair, working jointly with Alameda County Supervisor, District 1, Scott Haggerty.

Haggerty, who’s district encompasses a wide territory, from the Newark/Fremont area, Hayward, and east to Livermore, reaching the San Joaquin County border, was on-hand for the Tracy City Council meeting. He addressed the Council board with vigor, continued page 14

A Vibrant Onam Celebration by the Malayalis of Mountain House By: Adithi Varma & Sharon Varghese

On September 2, 2017, the Malayali Association of Mountain House celebrated Onam, a harvest festival, at Questa Elementary School. The Malayali community collectively showed up to make this program a great success. The entire celebration consisted of many vibrant colorful artistic performances, which culminated in a grand feast with a variety of dishes and sweets such as payasam.

Malayalis are people who originate from the state of Kerala in India. The Malayali community celebrates Onam as one of the most important of many festivals. Malayalis celebrate Onam as the incarnation day of Vaamana, another form of the Hindu god Vishnu and in the belief that the banished king Mahabali visits his subjects during this period every year.

This year marked the 10th year of celebrating Onam as a community, and as each year passes, the number of families who attend continues to increase. What once started off as a gathering of just a few families at a home has expanded into the Onam event attended by over 300 people in a school multi-purpose room.

The Mountain House Onam 2017 preparations had begun in earnest a few months back to the grand event, which lasted from about 3 PM till 10 PM. People wore traditional Onam attire.

The program began with a procession made up of program participants along with the King Mahabali and an escort of Chenda (traditional drum) drummers.

After the program performances an Onam Sadhya (feast) was served. The feast consists of vegetarian dishes served traditionally on large plantain leaves. The people eating are seated as others serve them servings that include a variety of different curries and vegetable mixes. After all of the dishes are served, a bowl of payasam, which is a sweet Indian dessert, was served. 2-3 rounds of seating was required to serve all the people who attended.

Overall, the Onam celebration was a great success due to the support from the community and our sponsors. The Malayali community aspires to continue this annual Onam tradition and bring together families for many more years to come.

Supervisor Elliott Provides Priorities Overview at Sept Rotary

The Rotary Club of Mountain House held their monthly morning meeting Friday, September 8, 2017, with great anticipation of hearing from County Supervisor, District 5, Mr. Bob Elliott.

The group gathered at the Mountain House Welcome Center just after 9am Following a good 10-15 minutes of general fellowship, President Bryan Harrison called the meeting to order. The meeting began with a good moment of silence, with those in mind immersed in hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and quite possibly Jose gathering force as next in line.

Self-introductions, followed by a fair amount of business being discussed, and on to the guest speaker. Bryan went through an extensive bio on Mr. Elliott by way of introduction. His experience, education and credentials are most impressive.

The West Point graduate (top 5% in his class), who also holds a Master of Arts degree in National Security Affairs from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, has accomplished much in his life.

30 years in the US Army, the highly decorated Elliott retired as a Colonel of US Army Special Forces (The Green Berets). He has since done his best to make a strong mark in civilian life, as well.

Elected to the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors in November, 2012, he was re-elected in 2016 and is currently serving his second term.

Wine Club Goes Fiesta for August Gathering

Community Events: The Month of August 2017, our French Camp McKinley Fire District and our Mountain House Fire Department personnel were thrilled about the number of opportunities they had with the members of the communities of Mountain House Community Services District.

• 8-18-17: On-Duty crews visited Bethany Elementary School and provided the children with fire safety tips and demonstrated fire safety awareness. The On-Duty crew donned their PPE for the children and showed the children some of MHFD apparatuses.

• 8-19-17: On-Duty crews and staff attended the Music in the Park.

• 8-26-17: Mountain House Mothers’ Club requested for their children to view the apparatuses inside/outside of the app bay.

On-Duty crew provided fire safety tips to the mothers and their children.

Meeting new friends has become a solid tradition with the Mountain House Wine Club. The sense of community is always strengthened when new members step up and agree to host an event, especially right out of the shoot. Such was the case for the August 26, 2017 event. Hosts Shanette and Michale Williams - new residents August 26, 2017 MH Wine Club hosts Shanette and Michael Williams of Mountain House, graciously opened up their Altamont home for a “Fiesta” themed evening.

The wine selections went beautifully with the pairings, and mood was lively.

“Shanette and Michael, you guys rock! We had a wonderful time meeting new people. I loved the home made Mexican cooking and Costco chocolate cake was the bomb! Thank you for hosting!” longtime member and past host Arlene Cruz-Daugherty said.

Time is Brain!

What is a stroke? A stroke is brain cell death due to a disruption of blood flow to the brain. There are two types of strokes. The first type occurs when an artery is blocked and is known as “ischemic” stroke.

The second type occurs when an artery breaks and bleeds into the brain. This is known as “hemorrhagic” stroke and is often due to a weak spot in the artery called an aneurysm. If the disruption of blood flow is brief, no brain cells die and the symptoms quickly get better, it is called Transient Ischemic Attack or TIA which is often

erroneously called a “ministroke”.

Improved stroke treatment over the last 20 years has resulted in less people dying from stroke than in the past but stroke is still one of the leading causes of death and disability in the US. In fact, someone dies from stroke or complications of stroke every 4 minutes.

Strokes can even occur in young adults in their 30s and 40s!

Let’s come back to why we need to act F.A.S.T. and call 911. If you notice:

treatment, many patients can survive and leave the hospital with little or no deficits. The biggest challenge we have now is teaching people how to recognize signs of stroke and act quickly. Stroke is a true emergency!

Animal Testing- The Pros/Cons

If you or someone you know show signs or symptoms of a stroke, quickly go to the nearest hospital (don’t wait for your doctor’s office to open). If you arrive within the first 3 hours (4.5 hours for some) after the start of symptoms, you may be eligible to receive a “clot busting” drug (rtPA) which could prevent brain damage and future deficits and disability. The earlier you arrive for treatment, the better your chances of a good recovery. So please don’t wait!

Everyday products that we people use, whether it’s shampoo or something as simple as toothpaste, have been tested animals. This fact may come as either a surprise to you or something that you have been knowing for a long time, but have been ignoring it too. Some people may agree or disagree and there is a good amount of evidence on both sides. This is why I find it necessary to go over both the pros/cons in order to raise awareness of this.

The Cons: Testing products on animals has caused a lot of dam-

age to them. Once an animal is taken to test on, it has a 50% chance of getting out of it alive or sadly, not. Even if animals do manage to survive, they are left with many permanent effects. Some effects that are caused include brain damage, burning skin, or blindness! This truly isn’t the right way to treat those poor, harmless, and innocent creatures.

One other con of animal testing is its expensiveness. Believe or not, animals still need to be cared for, fed, and housed while they are tested on and this costs an enormous amount of money. Getting the right materials to test on the animal also empties pockets. Animal testing takes many trials and could possibly last over a certain amount of time. This costs additional money too!

Another factor that people don’t realize is that animals and humans aren’t the same. Although someone could logically say that humans are mammals therefore they are animals too, many animal bodies can’t compare to a human’s. For example, if a certain drug tested on a mouse caused it to die within a few days, it could cause a simple

headache or an allergic reaction to a human. Clearly, death is much greater than a headache so therefore, humans won’t react the same way to certain items like animals do.

The Pros: Even though at this point it may seem as if animal testing is the worse, there are a few benefits too. One major advantage of animal testing is that it can help researchers find better drugs and treatments. Once a the results of a test are produced, the flaws can be fixed which would then ensure that the product is safe to use.

Another pro of animal testing is that the consumer’s safety can be guaranteed. This point, as you may observe, is similar to the one above. Once a product’s flaws are repaired and tested again until it is perfectly fine for consumers to use, safety can be given a thumbs-up.

I personally think that animal testing shouldn’t be carried out because it harms them in many dreadful ways. Each year, more than 100 million animals are killed because of biology lessons, medical training, and curiosity-driven experimentation. If so many animals are getting killed because of just these reasons, then why continue to add onto this number by testing chemicals, drugs, foods, and cosmetics on them?

He expressed adamantly that this will happen, and hopefully without delay. “From the Alameda County side, we own the right of way, including the tunnel,” he stated to the council.

Former Tracy Mayor and San Joaquin COG member, Mike Maciel, stated to the board “It’s not a good idea, it’s a great idea!”

“Alameda County needs this as much as San Joaquin County,” Haggerty told MH Matters outside of the board room afterward.

AB-758 states 60% growth in traffic by 2040 over the Altamont. The bill creates a mandate for local government action, and states in part: “By imposing new duties on local governmental entities, this bill would create a state-mandated local program.

“The California Constitution requires the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for certain costs mandated by the state. Statutory provisions establish procedures for making that reimbursement.

“This bill would provide that, if the Commission on State Mandates determines that the bill contains costs mandated by the state, reimbursement for those costs shall be made pursuant to the statutory provisions noted above.”

Additionally, Haggerty stated that Alameda County has already built some strong funding from sales taxes in their area, to the tune of $400 million, “just waiting to make this happen”.

Vargas said that City of Tracy will post meeting notices moving forward on the city web site: www.ci.tracy.ca.us.

While there are many hurdles to cross, Haggerty, Vargas, Eggman and others are clearly driven to make this happen post-haste!

Jacobsen 2017 MH Girls’ Softball Celebrates Opening Day - Play Ball!

Dominates August MH Golf Tourney

The Mountain House Girls’ Softball League celebrated its 4th annual Opening Day early Saturday morning, September 9, 2017, as they gathered at the ball field in Central Park for ceremonies.

League Commissioner, Patrick Martens, welcomed the families, fans and spectators. “We’ve been very fortunate to have many people help us out along the way,” he said. “Angel Lamb, of the CSD, is really the ‘Godmother’ of our league. She’s done so much to help make this happen.”

He thanked John Townsley, saying he “has been coaching with us since the very beginning. John, and his wife, Patricia, have done a lot to promote the

league,” he said. “I want to also thank Alicia Hernandez for her sponsorship and all her support.

“John and Alicia have both done so much to help us grow, and to make this a wonderful experience for your children.”

Martens then announced that this will Alicia Hernandez threw out the first ball on Opening Day be his last year as Commissioner, and Assistant Commissioner, Melissa Donohoue, will be taking over as League Commissioner next year.

And, with that, teams were introduced and the call to “Play Ball!” was sounded. Good luck to all of this years players and teams.

Drew Jacobsen was the star of the Mountain House Golf Club Tournament #6, held August 27, 2017 at Deer Ridge Golf Club, Brentwood.

Drew was the overall winner, and took the new car with Closest to the Pin on hole #13. Congratulations, Drew!

The Mountain House Golf tournaments continue until October/ November of each year at various courses around Mountain House.

Games 3 and 4 of NorCal NPL Fall League season went well for West Coast Wildfire 01 girls team.

Wildfire Blanks San Juan Spirits 10-0 Wildfire continued their winning streak by shutting out San Juan spirits 10-0. Starting it off for WCS was forward Jaden Hall with a beautiful cross from Tatiana Elsea. San Juan couldn’t contain West Coasts explosive offense who scored six more times in the first half with goals from Arianna Moore, Savannah Seals, Kayla Grisham and two from Samantha Montes. The offense continued to stay focused and finished strong with four more goals in the second half one each by Isabela Saavedra, Arianna Moore, Savannah Seals. Tatiana Elsea finished as game MVP with two goals and two assists.

West coast Wildfire 01 vs. Folsom Earthquakes The Folsom Earthquakes played strong but were outmatched 4-1 by West Coast Wildfire. This was largely due to Wildfire ‘s spectacular defense led by goalkeeper Brianne Radliff who made multiple clutch saves. Kate Wallace, Meredith Hagler and Fayth Hinojosa also made key defensive plays. Both teams defense held the other team scoreless until Jaden Hall ignited the Wildfire offense with a breakaway goal just before the first half was over.

During the second half Wildfire never looked back with three more goals scored one each by Savannah Boone, Savannah Seals and midfielder Precious West Coast Soccer Wildfire U17 Girls remain #1 in Fall league with the help of Martinez. Wildfire continues to remain undefeated in the NPL Fall league.

West Coast Kryptonite 07 Dominate West Coast Kryptonite 07 Girls put on a dominant performance this weekend coming away with two wins.

Saturday, Kryptonite faced Delta United Dynamite, and put the pressure on early with a beautiful finish

by Ella Nguyen. WCS Defense held strong throughout the game led by Nylah Trias, Kendall Shetter, and Madden Black and midfield held off any opposing attack. Kendall placed a beautiful penalty kick in the middle of the first half to make it 2-0. Second half Kryto tagged on an insurance goal by Jariah Indalecio to make it a 3-0 victory. Piper Sweeney made some great saves and kept her defense organized.. West Coast is now 2-0 in League following their dominant 2-1 win over Fusion Maroon on August 26th. Sundays game was against Piedmont Highlander’s for game one of the first round of State. In another gutsy performance, Kryptonite played really strong and kept Piedmont on their half for most of the game. Jayden Reynolds kept a lot of pressure on their defense, whipping in dangerous balls and taking lots of shots. Athena Taylor provided a huge spark offensively keeping the ball in the opponents area. Aubrey Westbrook helped control the midfield in the first half and played well, Jariah opened the score early with a hard shot to the corner of the net.

Kambrie Jehs followed later in the game with a left footed strike past the keeper. Nikki Orth had crafty footwork and was able to split the defense on many occasions. Jariah followed up with another goal to finish the game 3-0. Coach Sara Girotto was very proud of how well the girls played. “We had a game plan and the girls executed perfectly. The excellent job they did during training last week translated onto the field on the weekend.”

MH High School Sports - Go Mustangs!

Football - Varsity The Mountain House High School Varsity Football Mustangs remained undefeated through four games, as they defeated Livingston High 26-20 September 15, 2017. This victory marked another "First" for the young Mustang Football Program as this was their first AWAY Varsity Victory in school history.

Coincidentally, Livingston was the Varsity's first ever win in the program’s history, last season.

The Mustangs scored on their first 2 possessions to take an early 14-0 lead. Livingston answered with a touchdown pass in the 2nd quarter. The Mustangs marched down the field and scored a 3rd time to take a 20-6 Half time lead.

The Mustangs took the opening drive of the second half down to Livingston's 1 yard line.

Jesse Jordan appeared to score on a diving attempt, however he was called down just short of the end-zone The Wolves responded by driving the length of the field on a 99 yard touchdown scoring drive. Making it 20-13 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

In the fourth quarter the Wolves scored again making it 20-20. With just under 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter, the Mustangs responded with a touchdown drive of their own, which included a heavy dose of QB option by Jesse Jordan. The key to the drive was a big fourth down pass, from Jesse Jordan, that found wide open Vlad Sutherland who was taken down at the 4. A few plays latter Jordan scored from 1 yard out, finalizing the score @ 26-20.

Vlad Sutherland once again lead the offense with 18 rushing attempts for 156 yards and 2 Touchdowns. He also had 2 receptions for 33 yards, including a 22 yard Touch down reception from Jesse Jordan. The defense was lead

by Linebacker Troy Clegg with 10 solo tackles.

The Mustangs are home against Fortuna High School September 22, and three out of their next four games, including the October 20th Homecoming Game.

Girls Golf - Varsity The Mountain House High School Girls Golf team won their first match this season, beating Gustine High School 241-171. Five Mustang girls got league points.

Boys’ Cross Country - Varsity

Among the top scorers were Ormina Naveed, Sriya Chilukuri, Sidak Cheema, Manal Rasheed, and Melea Agleham.

The golf medalist of the match was Ormina Naveed, with an amazing score of 38.

With this first win, the team record is now 1-1.

In the first match of the season, the Girls’ Golf Team lost to Riverbank in a competitive round, 223-221. Although the Mustang girls lost, the team’s top three girls scored league points, which will allow them to compete in individual sectionals. Additionally, three Mountain House girls shot scores in the 50s!

The girl’s team continues to show vast improvement.

The MHHS Mustangs Boys Varsity Cross Country team took 6th place in their Setpember 6, 2017 League Meet, held at Tuolumne River Regional Park, in Modesto. They scored a total of 172 points.

Mario Calderon lead the team. He came in 40th with time of 22:36. Martin Gil was right behind Mario coming in 41st with time of 22:55.

Girls’ Cross Country - Varsity

Mountain House High School Girls Varsity Cross Country finished in 3rd place at their September 6, 2017 League Meet.

The meet was their first Trans Valley League meet. The JV Mustang girls ran 2 miles and finished in 3rd place over all with 82 team points. Nicole Bittar placed 2nd with a time of 15:07.
