Mountain House, CA - The Holiday Season, for so many, represents a time not only to celebrate light and love, but to give back, and to help others within their sphere of influence and ability. Making the world around us a bit kinder, if even only this time of year, many believe, could potentially be contagious and catch-on as a way of life.

For years, now, the Thanksgiving Basket Brigade has endeavored to do just that; create some joy for families who haven’t likely had much for awhile.

The mission of the Brigade is to compile and then deliver custom baskets filled with everything needed for a Thanksgiving feast.

representative, Anthony Docto. Funderburg’s presentation was nearly identical to the concisely detailed explanation he delivered successfully October 5th to the SJ County Planning Commission.

In similar fashion to that previous step in the process, the Board voted unanimously in support of the plans.

The November 8, 2017 regular meeting of the Mountain House Community Services District Board of Directors featured a major presentation on a bold new initiative.

Michael Tree, Executive Director of the Alameda-San Joaquin Regional Rail Working Group, delivered a detailed presentation on the official formation of the new “Tri-Valley-San Joaquin Valley Regional Rail Authority”.

Passage into law of Assembly Bill 78 (AB 78) provides for the formation of the new Rail Authority, whose purpose it will be to addresses a specific goal to serve what Mr. Tree called “a tremendous ‘Mega-Region’ transit issue”. In short, the Rail Authority is tasked with creating a commuter link from western San Joaquin Valley to the Dublin BART station.

Basket Brigade; the second consecutive event by the upstart Rotary Club and Interact.

Held Saturday, November 18, 2017, at the Altamont School Multi-Purpose Room, the event was the culmination of weeks of preparation, promotion, and a lot of effort by numerous people, from both within Rotary and Interact, and the community.

Picking up the ball and running with it again this year was Rotary founding member, Christina Oh, who set a high standard for organization last year, as Rotary endeavored to pick up with a modest community effort had left off the year before.

Initial help in setting up the online “sign-up genius” came from Katherine Havener, who ran the Basket Brigade for years in Livermore with her husband, Reese Ramos.

The day of the event, Sainthavi Vinodh served to direct more than 100 community members in putting their custom baskets together, assembly-line style.

The community came together as has been the case in past years and ultimately made a total of 60 baskets, exceeding all expectations.

“When we first discussed our approach for this year we had some creative ideas, dreaming initially that we might actually be able to come close to doubling the total of 57 baskets done last year, and reach 100,” Ms. Oh said. “However, those plans got derailed as focus from within the group went to assisting victims from the recent disasters (N. Bay

Fires, hurricanes and earthquakes).

In fact, at one point, Basket Brigade came close to not happening at all this year.

“As we regrouped our efforts,” Christina continued, “we felt we would still be able to pull together people and resources to make at least 35-50 baskets, with a distant hope that we might match the 57 baskets we were able to do last year.

“To have surpassed that and reached 60 speaks to the incredible community we have here,” she said.

City of Tracy Mayor Pro Tem, Veronica Vargas, who has been at the forefront of the move to connect BART to the ACE Train system, was on-hand, and spoke briefly to the board, as well. The duo was there to encourage the CSD Board to appoint a representative from Mountain House to the new Rail Authority.

Bernice Tingle, who attended a previous meeting on this development, said she has long been wanting to take part in this sort of activity happening, and would love to be the representative for Mountain House. Board Vice President, Dan Harrison, so moved, with Director Andy Su seconding his motion, and the board voted her in, unanimously.

AB 758 provides for the “newest rail authority in California” which will be active January 1, 2018.

The mega-region project costs are estimated at a sum total of $1.78 Billion. The first phase, from West Tracy to Dublin, is estimated at $1.4 Billion.

There was a lot of action at the November 8, 2017 meeting of the Community Services District Board of Directors. Open session began at 7pm and ran well past 10:00.

Significant issues included: a presentation on an inexpensive public security camera that could prove most effective, without going so far as a license plate reader (LPR) devise. Staff plans to purchase a couple of units at a minimal cost that fits within the General Manager’s budget and give them a try.

Much of the evening had to do with public safety-related issues. Extensive time was allowed for residents to voice concerns over traffic concerns, the lack of crossing guards, and a push to put up

Board of Supervisors Grants Final Approval to Town Center Construction Plans continued from page 1

Supervisor for District 5, which includes Mountain House, Bob Elliott, made the motion to approve the plan, followed by a quick second from Kathy Miller, Supervisor, District 2, followed by some further brief discussion before the vote was taken.

With this approval, Mountain House Developers, LLC may now set about finalizing specific plot maps throughout the area in question, some 26 acres located at the edge of Byron Road and Mountain House Parkway, stretching ultimately to Central Parkway and just shy of Arnaudo Dr. While each plot map must go through respective approval for design and permitting, this board of supervisors approval serves to lock-in the overall plan.

“This is a huge milestone,” stated Funderburg afterward.

“What this really means,” Sargent told MH Matters, “is that the plan as it stands is our final map.” He went on to explain that the developer will no longer face potential change

requests. Detailed maps of each part of the downtown will require approval, but the overall layout is no longer in question.

the aftermath of those workshop sessions made several significant changes to the Master Plan, not the least of which was deleting the DeAnza Blvd through-way from where the school administration building sits over to the connector at the “bridge to nowhere”, at the corner of Central Parkway and DeAnza.

Making changes to the Master Plan is no easy feat, making this milestone all the more significant.

The approval was for changes to: Specific Plan I (PA-1700003); Specific Plan III (PA1700005); and Specific Plan II (PA-1700004).

The latest design adjustments made to these final maps served mainly to “achieve consistency” throughout. Bringing the tentative map into compliance included meeting the

STORM WATER CHANNEL SAFET Y

In support of public safety the MHCSD will like to raise awareness and educate the public on creek and channel safety. We must take this opportunity to speak to our children and friends about the dangers of fast moving water and the almost certain fate that awaits anyone who goes into our rain swollen flood control conveyance channel that is located within Mountain House Creek.

Our flood control conveyance channel is a major part of our community’s infrastructure and, like freeways or railroad tracks, should never be used for recreation. The flood control channel is designed to drain stormwater from our community and take it swiftly “out to sea”, to prevent flooding in our community.

Rainy days impact the level of flow within the creek. During these events, flow increases causing a large volume of water to travel towards the delta all the while gathering debris, speed, volume and power. Agriculture west of Mountain House also uses the creek channel to discharge large volumes water which can happen at any given time. At key points along the way, large structures have been built into the system to slow down the water and control the power. These so called structures appear as the natural part of the creek; however they allow the water to flow back into wide earthen channels without destroying their natural habitat or causing erosion. A series of four roadway bridges engineered for large flows also exist. These bridges located in the creek are not intended for public access. During periods of high flow, these structures become deadly. For example, on April 2010 a family lost a husband and son in the rain swollen Walnut Creek channel and, two young men drowned in the same channel in February 2011. These structures are an efficient tool in managing floodwaters, but can be deadly for humans.

As inviting as it may appear, any area beyond the Creek Park trails and walkways are off limits to the public, especially around the flood control conveyance channel, storm water ponds, the sensitive riparian areas and the main creek channel. Any person, who enters onto District property beyond the public use area without written permission from the Mountain House Community Services District, may be charged with a misdemeanor and fined $75 under California Penal Code Section 602.8 for the first offense and up to $250 for repeated offenses. We must become aware of the dangers within our storm water conveyance system and take the necessary steps to educate ourselves and our children. Please talk to your children and friends about our flood control conveyance system and understand the important role it plays in our community.

Do you have left-over grease from your Holiday Turkey? Recycle it! Why recycle fryer and cooking oil? When you pour oil or grease down the drain, it can clog the pipes, cause damage to your home and cause problems at the sewage treatment plant.

Instead of paying a plumber to fix your drains, recycle it. Did you know that used cooking oil may be refined to make lubricants, new products and bio-diesel fuel?

Bio-diesel is used to power some vehicles that produce fewer harmful emissions than vehicles that run on regular gasoline. Plus, when you follow a car that uses bio-diesel, it may smell like French Fries.

If you are interested in recycling your grease, these local facilities will be happy to take it off your hands: San Joaquin Household Hazardous Waste Facility, Lovelace Transfer Station or North County Recycling Center. There is no cost for San Joaquin County residents to recycle cooking oil at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility.

MASTER RESTRIC TIONS

Section 4.02 B. Landscaping. Each Owner shall maintain the landscaping and Improvements on such Owner's Lot in a neat and attractive manner, including any landscaped strip of land located between the sidewalk and the street located adjacent to such Lot (“Park Strip”), except for any portion of the landscaping maintained by the MHCSD or other governmental entity.

All grass, mass plantings, and other plantings shall be mowed, pruned, trimmed, fertilized, and cut as necessary at reasonable regular intervals, all trees shall be properly maintained and irrigation systems shall be maintained in good operating order and properly used to irrigate the landscaping. All trees located in the Park Strip shall be trimmed by a professional tree trimmer in such a manner as to cause the tree to grow in an “arch” over the adjacent sidewalk and street and in conformity with any Rule governing the trimming of trees located in the Park Strip.

The MHCSD may undertake in its sole discretion from time to time to trim or otherwise maintain the trees or other landscaping located in the Park Strip and other areas controlled or maintained by the MHCSD. All unimproved Lots shall be kept mowed and in neat and clean condition.

No garbage or debris shall be allowed to accumulate on Lots.

Section 4.04 H. Refuse. The accumulation, placement, or outdoor burning of garbage, clippings from trees, weeds, shrubs, or lawns, trash, litter, debris, ashes, or other refuse on any Lot is prohibited. This Subsection does not apply to the burning of natural materials in connection with fire control. No Owner shall cause or permit any condition on his Lot which creates a fire hazard. Each Owner of an Improved Lot shall provide or have available for such Owner's use suitable receptacles for the collection of refuse.

Such receptacles shall be enclosed and screened from public view and any common area and protected from disturbance. No refuse or refuse container shall be placed in streets or public view more than twenty-four (24) hours prior to the scheduled collection time for such refuse and all refuse containers shall be removed within the twenty-four (24) hour period following the collection of the refuse.

I. Accumulations on Lots. All weeds, rubbish, debris, manure, composting or decaying vegetation material, and other unsightly objects or materials of any kind shall be removed from Lots whether such Lots contain Improvements or not, and shall not be allowed to accumulate or grow on any Lot. All dead vegetation, including trees, located on the front yard of Improved Lots shall be removed and replaced with comparable living vegetation and trees within thirty (30) days, subject to the provisions of Subsection M of this Section, if applicable. Contractors constructing Improvements on one or more Lots may use containers or fenced areas to hold construction waste during such construction on one or more such Lots. These containers or fenced areas do not need to be concealed from view. This Subsection shall not be construed to prohibit refuse containers, woodpiles, storage areas, or machinery and equipment related to yard care and maintenance, provided such materials are screened from the view of adjacent streets and Lots.

The Holidays are here. Please follow the Master Restrictions concerning Holiday Lighting.

Article 4, Section 4.05, Paragraph I: The installation of any exterior lighting whose source is visible from neighboring lots is prohibited, except for ordinary non-directional bulbs that: (i) do not exceed a total of 150 watts for the bulbs in a single fixture; and (ii) are white or yellow in color. This provision does not prohibit holiday lighting decorations temporarily installed for a holiday season which are promptly removed following the holidays. No holiday lighting may be left installed for periods exceeding forty-five (45) days. Nothing in this Subsection prohibits street lighting in interior streets, driveways and parking areas, provided they comply with the Design Guidelines.

Telecommuting which can also be referred to as working remotely or teleworking is a work arrangement that does not require workers or employees to travel or commute (either by bus or train) to a specific place of work, such as an office, workspace, workshop, store or warehouse.

Teleworkers often make use of modern technology such as a computer with an internet access, tablets, smartphones, a cell phone to work from any location of their choosing, most especially their house. In a nutshell, telecommuters are remote workers that do not need to physically show up at their place of work to carry out their functions.

Some projections are already forecasting that by the year 2020, more than 50% of the work force will opt to either telecommute or work from a remote location. The home in the next couple of years will be a place that will not just offer shelter and entertainment, but it will also double up as a workspace.

This development would mean that more people will be willing to work for different firms and organizations regardless of their location and there will be an increased demand for various varieties of homes and because location would no longer be a big deciding factor, there could be less demand for houses in urban areas and locations and more people may opt to move to bigger houses or apartments in the suburbs or outskirts of the city.

Recent statistics carried out has shown that; 51% of females will be telecommuting by the year 2020 49% of males are estimated to resort to telecommuting in the year 2020.

45% of Millennials and 29% of Xers are also estimated to take up telecommuting by the same year 2020. While, 21% of Bloomers, 3% of Matures and 2% of Centennials will also take up telecommuting by the year 2020.

Telecommuting will influence their lifestyle as over 40% of them will choose or prefer to work more from home, while 42% of them will find the option to work from home more attractive. Furthermore, 37% of them will not dedicate a special area in their home as a workspace and will instead work at various locations of their choosing in their home.

Finally, 42% of telecommuters by the year

2020, would set up their home around their telecommuting needs.

Most people now enjoy the freedom that working from a location of their choosing avails them. Telecommuters are seen to not have to spend time or money commuting to their place of work, they have the freedom to actually work from anywhere they like.

Telecommuters will have the chance to save more money – money that they would have spent on gas or clothes and most importantly, they can dictate their own work hours and regulate the pace at which they work at.

In the real estate business, when buying, rebuilding, flipping or renting a real estate, it is important that you are aware of the features and spaces that are most fundamental to the home. With a forecasted surge in telecommuting, more people will favor houses that are not located in highbrow areas or highly industrialized areas. This could mean that the local and sub-urban real estate market may record a sharp increase in sales.

This increase in remote working will also mean that people will shift their attention towards homes that are further away from the big cities, leading to a declutter of people in major urban areas. Because suburban or country homes will be cheaper and due to the fact that location will no longer be a hindrance, more clients will look towards real estate properties that are bigger, cheaper and further away from the major cities.

Although for now, it’s largely unclear as to how much impact telecommuting will have on the price gap between properties in the urban and sub-urban areas, but most people are still very likely to favor living in the urban areas due to the constant amenities and developed neighborhood. Be that as it may be, the real estate market in the outskirts and country areas will surely benefit immensely once telecommuting enters into full gear and the commercial real estate market may likely take a slight dip, as companies may look to lease out smaller office spaces to save cost.

Dazzling Deepavali celebration at Mountain House!

The Mountain House Tamil Community celebrated Deepavali, the festival of lights, in pompous fashion on the 21st of October at Lammersville Elementary School.

Deepavali is a festival that is celebrated throughout India by all people, with vigor.

During Deepavali, people decorate their homes with lights and rangolis (traditional indian artwork with different colored powders at the entrance of the house). Families spend the day by exchanging sweets and bursting crackers with their friends and families.

The lights symbolize part of sun, the cosmic giver of light and energy to all life. The festival also symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.

The Tamil community that initially got together with a handful of families living in the neighborhood, has become bigger and better every year and this year resulted in more than 200 people coming together to put up the

event in a grand manner. The event had more than 100 kids performing various traditional music and dance numbers. The volunteers teamed up for different responsibilities and executed them with great enthusiasm right from the beginning till end, amidst their busy schedules.

The entrance of the venue was decorated with beautiful rangolis by the art team. The event started around 10.30 am in the morning with the “lighting of lamp” by women adorned in traditional silk sarees followed by children soulfully singing the tamil thai vazhthu, “Neerarum kadaludutha..”. Kids performed various art forms ranging from carnatic music with percussion instruments, kathak and Bharatnatyam dance forms. Event organizers made

sure kids spent some quality time learning their mother tongue “Tamil” as part of the event. This was taken care by the quiz team that had fun facts about the language and it was fun to see the kids showing keen interest on that area too. This was followed by fashion show by the families which was a delight to watch. Adults added to the fun part by singing Karaoke for their favorite numbers.

The event was wrapped up by handing over certificates to the participants and return gifts to each family. Then the dance floor was open for audience aged 2 to 70 who were ready to dance to their favorite beats.

Living miles away from home, Deepavali could not have been celebrated in a better way.

MHFF Halloween Parade Highlights

The Mountain House Flag Football organization held their fifth annual Halloween Parade Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Bethany Park. The parade, which was started 14 years ago by the MH Mothers’ Club, has grown in popularity even since the league took over running it.

Ghosts, goblins, super heroes, princesses, and many more marched in what was touted by league president, Andy Su, as “the longest running family event in the history of Mountain House”. Sponsors lined-up around the corner in Bethany Park from Communidad to Legacy Streets, offering Halloween treats to more than 300 trick or treaters. The Parade was then followed by a Best Costume contest, held in several age categories.

In the end, it was another successful and very fun event.

2nd Annual Mountain House Witches’ Ride Lights Up The Town

Witches on wheels was the name of the game, once again, as the witches of Mountain House took to their bikes for the 2nd annual Mountain House Witches’ Ride Sunday evening, October 29, 2017.

Organized as a Community Services District sanctioned event, in conjunction with the MH Mothers’ Club, the annual ride was so much fun last year there was little question as to whether they’d take to the streets again.

Chief witchley instigator, Kate Coffee, gathered her brood at Central Park at the witching hour of 5pm. Together they rode to Questa Village, past Questa School, and on to Altamont Village. With each village they chose a route that took them past the village k-8 school.

Altamont and on to Bethany, where they crossed over the Mountain House Creek Bridge as the sunset sky caste a deep pink on a rising cloud. The waxing moon shone at the cloud’s edge as the witches paraded past cheering crowds of some of the local children. From Bethany on to Wicklund Village, down and around the school and park and back up to Central Parkway they rode. At last, they rejoined at the Main Street entrance to Central Park, where they gathered for a group photo to commemorate this special ride.

‘It’s so much fun to dress up and ride, and throw candy to the kids,’ said one tickled rider just afterward.

Together the witches created the brightly lit moon, and vanished again into the night.

2nd Annual MH Pumpkin Festival A Fun Day In The Sun

The second annual Community Pumpkin Fest, held again at Central Park, October 28, 2017, was by all standards a huge hit.

What started as an annual tradition to thank their clients and celebrate Halloween with friends and neighbors in their Wicklund Village home has morphed into a very popular community event.

Partnering with the MH Community Services District, led by Angel Lamb, Drew and Colleen Jacobsen do it up big. Ten large bins full of pumpkins were brought in, with carving stations to fix them right up.

Other entertainment included the petting zoo, bounce house, games and a mechanical bull. There were food trucks, Jack Frost Italian Ice, photo booth, and DJ music by MC Productions. A special hayride toured folks around the park, as well.

The weather was amazing. Families came out by the droves.

The area near the fountain at Central park was busy throughout the four hour event. Fun times in Mountain House!

“We couldn’t have been more pleased with the way it turned out,” Drew said with a smile.

“Our first very small pumpkin party was in 2012, so this was our 6th year,” he added. Certainly won’t be the last.

We all have something to be thankful for. Whether it’s our family or religion, food or clothes, or maybe even everything! Whatever we may be grateful for, many of us express this gratitude on Thanksgiving.

We all have something to be thankful for. Whether it’s our family or religion, food or clothes, or maybe even everything! Whatever we may be grateful for, many of us express this gratitude on Thanksgiving. For some, we like to show our appreciation everyday, but it is on this specific day that some of us reveal our thanks the most.

A few months ago, my family and I moved. I was so excited to finally start high school, meet my new teachers, and make friends here in Mountain House. I had all my four years at MHHS planned out and when I found out that we were moving, I was inconsolable. At first, it was hard to leave my beautiful home, friends, and opportunities behind. Having a great amount of exposure to a new environment was a big change, but then I realized that in reality, I wasn’t leaving anything behind at all. I was thankful to everyone in Mountain House that had made my 2 years there amazing! Sometimes at school, I would feel bummed out because of certain actions or events that had happened. But it was during those times that I had my teachers and friends there to support me. When I had found my love for writing and I wanted to express it in some way, I discovered Mountain House Matters.

to have had the chance to write for this newspaper and I am also grateful to be able to continue to write for it.

There are so many other things in my life that I am appreciative of too.

Recently, I was thinking about how in just 4 years, I will be going to college. I was thinking about how I might need to live in a dorm, away from my family for a while. Regardless of what college I’m going to be attending, I know that I would miss my family a lot. During this thought, I understood how thankful I am to have a wonderful family. They are always there for me, no matter what. They understand me so well and whenever I’m left feeling down, they find a way to bring me back up again. They tell me to keep on going and to never give up. Thanks to their support, I am who I am today.

Although sometimes it may seem as if life is throwing a bunch of boulders our way or it may seem as if we have nothing good left with us, we need to remember what we are thankful for.

We need to remind ourselves how lucky we are to be up and living. We need to keep in mind all the good life has given us too. It’s always important to remember that in the end, there is always going to be a rainbow waiting for you. All you have to do is take the time, thanks and effort to get there.

Tracy Interfaith Ministries provided a majority of family recipients. McHenry House Tracy Family Shelter, Chest of Hope, Steps of Tracy, and Haven of Peace, in French Camp, also provided recipients. And, there were also a few families in Mountain House going through some tough times that the Brigade was able to help out.

The outpouring of support from the people of Mountain House was tremendous. For this writer, personally, I can say that, as the 2017-’18 President of the Rotary Club of Mountain House, I am completely grateful and so proud of all our friends and neighbors who helped make this happen.

The response from so many of the recipients validates the rich value this project provides, on so many levels.

After the baskets were made, numerous volunteer drivers delivered them directly to the homes of the designated recipients.

“All delivered,” reported Monica Collins. She and husband, Bob, delivered several baskets.

“One of the families was so grateful,” Monica said. “The parents did not speak much English but the smiles & ‘thank yous’ were very heartfelt. It was the 2 kids’ reaction that touched us,” she went on to explain. “The teenage girl was so genuinely surprised at all that was in the basket. She shyly gave me such a hearty hug, as she kept thanking us.

The younger boy’s big smile and ‘WOW!’ said it all. As we left they thanked us again & wished us a wonderful Thanksgiving!

“Now that’s what Thanksgiving is all about!”

CSD Board Meeting CHP Lt. Campbell addressed traffic control. He explained he has been short-staffed for a time, but that he would soon have an officer dedicated to paroling MH. Sheriff’s deputies generally are not engaged on that level, as it falls within the purview of the CHP. Lt. Campbell also stated that his department is legally unable to write speeding tickets on county roads designed like the major arterials of Mountain House. Specifically, 4-lane roads, two lanes each way, with a solid median in between, in unincorporated county areas of fewer than 3 million people have a high threshold of speed before drivers may be ticketed.

“We do have officers out here enforcing the vehicle code,” he said.

“I’m not allowed to enforce any speeds below 65 without a legal survey within the last five years.”

In other words, drivers must be going 65 mph before they can legally be ticketed.

Lt. Campbell offered a couple of suggestions to rectify the situation, including changing all major arterials to simple two-lane roads (one lane each way) with a bike lane each way. “That would allow

Operations & Maintenance Superintendent, Doug Louie, gave a brief presentation to the board, wherein he informed the board that a major maintenance cost for the waste water treatment plant had been inadvertently left out of the fiscal 2017-’18 budget, to the tune of $240,000. The budget item is an annually occurring service expense to the facility that is required.

Board members and audience members alike appeared taken aback at this news. The detailed maintenance was conducted but the budget allocation for it was omitted, Louie said.

The appropriation required a 4/5 vote of the board.

“It’s nothing different than we’ve approved in past years.”

“Ultimately this will be coming from the General Funds,” said GM Ed Pattison.

“It is possible that, at the end of the budget year, we may have substantial savings from other projects that could offset some of this cost,” stated Nader Sharegi.

Following some board discussion, they voted unanimously to allocate funds.

Presents for Pets Greg Holtz Wins Tourney, Vu Nguyen Player Of The Year Submitted by MH Dog Club

The Mountain House Golf Club played their final tournament of the 2017 season, a double-header weekend November 11th at Rancho Solano, in Fairfield, and November 12th at Paradise Valley, also in Fairfield. Players were required to play both tournaments to get points.

Mountain House Dog Club and Mountain House Feral Cat Rescue have joined up to sponsor the “Presents for Pets” Campaign to help collect donations to bring a little cheer to those pets in need. The two local groups plan to assist Animal Rescue of Tracy with their Christmas Wish List to help homeless Dogs and Cats this Holiday Season.

You can help by dropping off donations from 11/25/17 through 12/17/17 at one of these locations: Jules Veterinary Clinic in Tracy, Pampered Pets Grooming in Tracy, Bark Ave. Groomers in Tracy, and at Mountain House Bar.

MH Dog Club and Feral Cat Rescue representatives will also be in Mountain House to collect your donations at the following events: Small Business Saturday in Wicklund Park, 11/25/17 from 9:00 am until 2:00pm, MH Annual Tree Lighting in Central Park, 12/2/17 from 4:00 through 8:00pm and at the MH Blood Drive, 12/12/17 from 4:00 until 7:00pm.

“There’s always a need for food and supplies for these homeless pets but with all the busy rush of the Holidays, sometimes they get pushed down on the priority list,” says Monica Collins, President of the MH Dog Club.

“There are so many groups that still have great need because of the fires up north, so we want to help by collecting these items for Animal Rescue of Tracy to distribute to those animals in the most need.”

There is an urgent request for towels, blankets and puppy training pads, especially, but food for dogs/puppies and cats/kittens, as well as leashes, beds and feeding bowls are always appreciated. “It does your heart good to know you’ve helped these homeless dogs and cats get what they need until they can find a home,” says Collins.

West Coast Warriors U16 are NPL 2 Fall Division Champions! Warriors were undefeated with 7 wins, 2 ties and no loses to outclass the competition. Warriors scored 26 goals and only conceded 12.

Warriors needed 4 points in the final two league matches that were apart of the NPL College Showcase to secure the championship. Saturday warriors handled the California Thorns with a 3-1 win.

The first goal came from Heather Tarabini with a nice assist from Kaitlin Carlton. Caitlin Garrison picked up the second goal from a blocked shot and Kaitlin Carlton went on a super 50 yard run up the field by herself and scored the third goal. In the final game vs East Bay Oaks the Warriors found themselves down 1-0 thirty seconded into the game. But Heather Tarabini scored a Screamer of a shot from a beautifully placed pass by Mia Mendoza. Soon after Heather Tarabini assisted Jaden Hall on the go ahead goal.

West Coast Warriors ‘02 Girls built off an outstanding spring were they also ended as division Champions. In the past 33 games the Warriors were only defeated three times giving them a remarkable undefeated streak and the “Double” League Championship. West Coast worked their way up from NPL 3 two years ago to NPL3 and NPL 2 Champions, to now NPL 1 next Spring. “Hard work and determination has defiantly paid off for this team, they way they stick together even when things are not going their way is remarkable, they are an absolute joy to coach” says Troy Dayak West Coast DOC and Head Coach. Next up the Warriors 02 will test themselves as they head to one of the most prestigious soccer tournaments in the country, Surf College Cup over thanksgiving weekend.

West Coast Wildfire 01 Girls (8-1-0) crushed through the opposition

WEST COAST WILDFIRE 01 Girls (8-1-0) crushed through the opposition with an undefeated season earning a NPL 2 Championship. Thanks to an attack that scored 39 goals and a defense that allowed only 9, Wildfire will be promoted to NPL 1 next spring. On Saturday Wildfire met with Placer Gold in the NPL showcase in Davis Ca. Starting off Wildfire was Jaden hall, scoring on a corner kick from Fayth Hinojosa, Putting wildfire on the board first at 1-0. Wildfire remained dominant in the first half playing great defense from Meredith Hagler, Fayth Hinojosa, Arianna Moore, Kate Wallace, Julianne Munoz and Isabela Saavedra.

Solid midfield play from Samantha Montes, Jessa Lyons and Kayla Grisham allowed the persistent attack from forwards Savannah Seals and Savannah Boone to provide Tatiana Elsea the chance to net the second goal for wildfire before the end of the first half. Second half Placer came out firing, scoring one bringing the score to 2-1 but Jaden hall would find Amiah Leak with a nice cross giving West Coast a 3-1 lead. Placer would score again but it wasn’t enough, as Wildfire would edge them out with a 3-2 win.

Earthquakes started it off early taking the lead at 1-0. After a slow first half Wildfire answered back in the second half with a beautiful goal from Savannah Boone assisted by Tatiana Elsea tieing up the game at one a piece. Earthquakes would score again and take the lead 2-1. With both teams in a continuous back and forth battle Wildfire would answer back with a goal from Jaden Hall assisted by Precious Martinez leaving the game at a 2-2 draw and the Wildfire a undefeated NPL season. “The Wildfire could be the most explosive group of players in the state in the 01 girls age group. We are packed full of talent and firepower, I️ can’t wait to continue my work with this team to see just how far we can go” says Coach Troy Dayak. Next up West Coast Soccer will take the Wildfire and an unprecedented 6 teams down to San Diego for the prestigious Surf College Cup held in San Diego over Thanksgiving weekend.
