Each and every day, we are faced with decisions we have to make that could possibly cause harm to others or to ourselves. Facing ethical decisions can be very difficult, especially with the types of decisions that may seem wise at first, but turn out not to be correct.

In this one-hour presentation, attendees will be challenged to become involved in a group discussion that will help make those decisions and learn the importance of those decisions in the Insurance and Restoration Industries.

We are enjoying our new venue and the increased attendance at our meetings. We are striving for even better attendance at upcoming events, including our Holiday Luncheon Party, on December 16, 2016, at Dave Wong’s Restaurant. Not only will we have a complementary lunch for our members, but wonderful

raffle prizes and special gifts for our MVCA heroes.

Please let us know who you are and what you are doing to make this world a better place and please be prepared to speak briefly at our luncheon about your personal humanitarian endeavor.

In years past, we have heard from those of you who help children, who save animals, who rescue people in need, who help needy families and we want to hear from all of you again and those of you who we have not heard from, as yet. There will be prizes for all of you, but please let us know who you are, so that we can put all of your names in our next newsletter. We will also be able to determine how many gifts we will be presenting at our Holiday Luncheon.

Also, please do not forget that we will have our Fair Claims Settlement Practices Act Certification Class for 2017 at our February luncheon.

Christine Reed of Low, Ball & Lynch will have the certificates with her, following her presentation on February 17, 2017. Our January speaker will be announced shortly.

BELFOR WELCOMES GEOFF JOLLIFF BELFOR General Manager, Grant Cody is very excited to announce the new Sacramento office Estimator Geoff Jolliff.

Estimator -Geoff is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a combat Medic in the Ohio National Guard. He began his professional career in insurance property claims with Farmers Insurance.

Geoff has over 15 years estimating experience of which include; Field Claims Representative, Vendor Manager, Mid-Loss Adjuster, Large Loss Adjuster, Claims Manager and General Geoff Jolliff Adjuster. Geoff enjoys fishing, art, writing, wine tasting, and spending time with his wife Kathy, and daughter Claire.

Luncheon course at November 18, 2015 MVCA

Join The Mid-Valley Claims Association for our next luncheon meeting, Friday, November 18, 2016 for an hour-long cxourse on Ethics.

The premise for this ethics course is that, though we may have solid ethical foundations and are capable of making rational ethical decisions, our ethical lapses are likely to come when we are stressed, angry, upset, worried, or otherwise disengaged.

Ms. Griffith explains, “Each and every day we are faced with decisions that we make that could cause harm to others, or ourselves. Facing ethical decisions can be very difficult, especially with the types of decisions that may seem correct at first, but we later find out were not so great. As we explore what ethics is.

“I will also challenge you to be prepared to become involved in hourly group activities. The group activities will help reinforce what we have learned, and also give us the ability to better deal with ethical decisions making in our own lives.”

Fonferek Delivers with California Law Update at October MVCA

The October 18, 2016 luncheon meeting of the Mid-Valley Claims Association featured a California Law Update from Low Ball & Lynch Monterey Office Associate, Eric C. Fonferek.

Mr. Fonferek, who was also a featured speaker at the November 10th Low Ball & Lynch Sacramento Seminar, covered a good number of recent case law decisions pertinent to the insurance claims industry.
