We also would like to strongly encourage you to participate in the 25th anniversary Claims Conference of Northern California. The CCNC will be living out a dream this year, taking the conference up to beautiful Lake Tahoe, at the Squaw Valley Resort. Make plans now to attend, even sponsor the event. I understand exhibitor space is sold out at this time. We are looking forward to being part of a most memorable conference experience this year. You can sign up at: www.ClaimsConference.org. In September, MVCA will be hosting our first-ever bowling tournament! Teams will square-off to exhibit their best efforts on the lanes Friday, September 21, 2018. The event will be held in the afternoon at Pacific Lanes in Stockton. Sponsorship opportunities will be forthcoming, as will bowler sign-ups. Start putting your team together. This should be big fun. We look forward to great participation by our members and a fun evening for all! If you have not already paid your dues for the year, please contact Staci Moreno as soon as you can. Staci can be reached at 209603-5006. Looking forward to seeing all of you in Tahoe. Respectfully submitted,

In Memoriam:
Tami Lynn McLarty APRIL 21, 1961 ~ JUNE 22, 2018
We are sad to report that long time claims person, friend and member of the Sacramento Claims Association, Tami Lynn McLarty, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 at the age of 57. Tami is survived by her father John McLarty, sister Lisa Jay and husband John; brother John McCarty and wife Christine; nephew John Michael Duncan; and niece Shannon. She is preceded in passing by her mom, Pat. Tami loved vacationing in Hawaii and Mexico. Thanks to Maureen Parnell and her other friends that helped so much. A celebration of life will be announced soon. Her ashes will be spread in Hawaii as her mother's were. She was a great sister and friend and will be missed by all.
Excerpts from a 2009 Association News Network Personality Profile article on Tami, written by Joan Barrett Coming from a true multi-line background, Tami started her adjusting career with State Farm and has always been intrigued with the investigative aspect of claims. She cites her father’s job as a California Highway Patrol Captain with instilling that quest to discover the cause of an event in her as she grew. Later in her career she found a field job working with litigated files that she “loves, loves, loves!” she stated. “The art of negotiation is another challenge I enjoy” Tami went on. “Sometimes it isn’t about the money. I’ve learned to think outside the dollar amounts and really try to listen to what will make the claimants feel that a wrong has been atoned. Sometimes it is a written apology; it could be that a bench
commemorating their loved one is what success looks like to the claimant. One only learns by careful listening. “Furthermore, I believe in mediation,” she said. “I think it is smart claims handling. I like to become involved in the mediation process, and the attorneys that I work with respect that I’m not impassive about the process.”
Tall and athletic, Tami excelled at sports, from golf to snow and water skiing. “People scoff when I say I love knee boarding” she said in her 2009 interview, “but when I come off of a wake and catch another wake, they wave and cheer and I love it. But, then I get to pay for it in pain in my joints for the next week.” An imaginative cook, Tami’s signature dish is Beef Wellington and she has made it so many times that she loves to improvise the ingredients surrounding the filet for variety.
