First-Ever MVCA Bowling Tournament A Fun Time

The Mid-Valley Claims Association held the first-ever MVCA Bowling Tournament Friday, September 21, 2018 at Pacific Avenue Bowl in Stockton. An intimate turn-out of three teams competed over a total of three games. Team RegasGroup handily took top honors in a very fun and friendly competition.

Social Media/Cyber Investigations and Geolocation in the Real World Garrett McGinn speaking at November 16, 2018 MVCA Luncheon

The Mid-Valley Claims Association is very pleased to present Mr. Garrett McGinn, of DigiStream, who will present an in-depth look at Social Media/Cyber Investigations and Geolocation in the Real World at the November 16, 2016 luncheon meeting.

Cyber investigations have evolved dramatically over the past two years. This session utilizes case studies in order to highlight the efficacy of the next generation of social media search methods, including geotagging, hash tagging and graph searching subjects. In addition, geosocial data allows investigators the ability to supply property and casualty adjusters, in particular, with eyewitness accounts of large accidents, as well as the ability to contact the witnesses in order to further an investigation. These investigations can pinpoint information previously outside the reach of the general population.

Case studies involve an analysis of incidents occurring in both industrial and public entities. The audience will take away information on how to properly launch an investigation, how to uncover and verify the subject’s online identity, as well as how to preserve and authenticate information in court.

Garrett McGinn is the Director of DigiStream’s Intelligence Division, and has over twelve years of experience in the private investigative industry. He is a licensed California Private Investigator as well as an Associate Certified Fraud Examiner.

McGinn holds a Masters Degree in TransAtlantic Relations from the Uniwersytet Jagielloński in Kraków, Poland, and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from the University of California, Davis.

He was also trained in advanced surveillance tactics in the United Kingdom, achieving a Level III Advanced Award in Foot & Mobile Surveillance in 2007. He has headed the Intelligence Division of Digistream since 2012, developing cutting edge services in the fight against fraud.

Prior to his employment with DigiStream in 2006, Mr. McGinn was a Research Analyst for Glass, Lewis & Co., an institutional investment advisory firm.
