iving new meaning to the term “a successful launch”, the G30 driver was #1 and #2 in average distance at the Greenbrier Classic, its first week on tour. The player who led averaged 332 yards while Bubba Watson, this season’s overall distance leader, was second at 322.9. Watson was among eight pros who added the G30 driver last week. The PING players switching were Watson, Angel Cabrera, Daniel Summerhays, David Lingmerth, Edward Loar, Jason Gore, and Jeff Maggert.

he G30 series won in its first week on tour in the hands of Angel Cabrera, who earned a two-shot victory at the Greenbrier Classic. He played a G30 driver and 3-wood. “The big thing was the drive today,” Cabrera said. “It was good all week. It made the course play a little shorter.” In the final round, Cabrera averaged 331.6 yards off the tee with an average clubhead speed of 122 mph, according to PGA Tour statistics. Cabrera was also one of the most accurate drivers all week, hitting 82% of the fairways. On Sunday, the 44-year-old Argentine had six birdies and an eagle to win at -16 (68-68-64-64). His 6-under final round was highlighted by a hole-out for eagle using an S55 8-iron on the 13th hole.

KIM WINS IN U.K.

W

ith a mixture of i25 and G25 products, PING Pro I.K. Kim earned a commanding five-shot victory at the ISPS Handa Ladies European Masters, in England. In the bag for her fifth career title were an i25 driver, G25 fairway woods, an i25 hybrid and irons, and a Karsten TR Anser 2 putter. Kim is among eight PING pros in the field for this week’s Ricoh Women’s British Open (see full roster below).

When Bubba Watson first tested turbulators on the crown of the G30 driver, he picked up two miles per hour in clubhead speed and four miles per hour in ball velocity, which meant an extra 10 yards for him. In this video filmed at PING, Bubba demonstrates the added speed and distance behind his bright-pink G30 driver featuring patented Turbulator Technology. Watch here.
