COLLIN MAKES A BIG IMPACT AT PING
C
ll seven PING pros in the field for this week’s prestigious Players Championship are relying on G drivers, and six of the seven have G fairway woods in the bag as they tune up at the famed TPC Sawgrass. World #4 Bubba Watson and 13th-ranked Louis Oosthuizen will be there with the G drivers and 3-woods they’ve used in victory this season; the clubs have won four times in the past five weeks on various world tours. Oosthuizen plays a G LS Tec (low-spin) version, as does Mark Wilson, who is also in the field.
an we hit balls, Dad?” was the oft-repeated question of 3-yearold Collin, who with his parents were special guests of PING last week on behalf of Make-a-Wish® Arizona, which arranged for the family to spend the morning on campus, a big reason being Collin’s favorite player is Bubba Watson. And hit balls he did, both on our range and from the VIP fitting bay, where a smiling Collin watched a video message from Bubba himself welcoming the youngster and his family.
When his caddie for the day, fitter James Lee, could coax him off the range, Collin visited iron assembly and PING Wrx, and he pushed the button operating the PING Man robot. His eyes grew widest in the Gold Putter Vault, where he received a gold-plated putter with his name engraved on it. With a bagful of new Moxie clubs slung over his shoulder, on his way out he was heard to ask, “Can we go hit balls, Dad?”
