Design is a process that studies the needs, desires and perspective of the user to develop products which satisfy the customer. It is the soul of any man-made creation. I am an aspiring Product Designer, who believes in following the Design Process to get ideal design solutions. Multi-disciplinary skills complemented by creative design thinking, innovating processes, material perspicacity and implementation schedules help me to derive unique solutions for vexed problems in a time bound manner. Being a design enthusiast I aim to enhance my skills and have a fresh and innovative perspective to each project in order to bring about design revolution in the society.

Project Brief: To design an aid for transferring bedridden patients from one surface to another within the hospital. Such people are sensitive to any kind of movement due to their medical conditions or are advised not to move. They are prone to inherent risks in the existing modes of transfer. Remodified Brief: To design an easy, safe and comfortable aid for transferring bedridden patients from one surface to another within hospitals. The product should be intuitive and should require minimal training for the ward boys. About the Aid: SLIFT is a low cost, easy, safe and comfortable aid for transferring bedridden patients from one surface to another within hospitals. It does no require special training for ward boys. Materials: ABS Plastic Board, Polyester, Aluminium fixtures


Research methods used

Problem Areas while Sheet Transfer In India, the sheet transfer is mostly used to transfer bedridden patients from one surface to the other. Often times, the experience of the patient is not very pleasant when he/she is being transferred. Bedridden patients in hospitals are sensitive to any kind of movement due to their medical conditions or are advised not to move. They are prone to inherent risks in the existing modes of transfer.

Gaze-O-Maze Project Brief: To design a “Tangible product� for a user with special needs. The product should be contextually designed keeping in mind the environment. The design should be inclusive. Remodified Brief: To design an inclusive game/activity/product for Children of age group 6-12, specially with the symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder to enhance their skills and more compliant to the environment. About the game: GAZE -O- MAZE enhances the motor skills, ability to memorize and noise sensitivity of autistic children. The child has to glide the animal token through the maze to reach its home/food. Materials: MDF board, Delrin, Vinyl Stickers, Arduino software.

Design Insights: -Match things well visually -Musically inclined -Happy if appreciated -Anxious and distracted -Motor skills to be enhanced -Increase Concentration level -Enhance Memory Skills Game Play -The child selects an animal which is parked on the side of the maze. -Task: to take the animal to its house/ food through the maze. -Picture cards can be interchanged. -The video: https://youtu.be/el4gZZyWQOE Sound -When the animal reaches its right destination, its home or its food, then a sound is created of the animal to show that it has reached the correct place. -The sound of the animal is not created at any other point. This game was awarded the 1st position in the What’s Next Student Competition 2019 held in Mumbai.

D’Luminous Project Brief: To design a lighting product inspired by Nature using Arduino. Inspiration: Chameleon Concept of the Light: Switch off the light and, as if by magic, the lamp disappears. Switch it on and, again Voila as if by magic, all you see is the light itself. Is it a lamp or a chameleon? Taking inspiration from the features of a Chameleon, D’Luminous is a light on the ceiling which can camouflage with the ceiling and create mood lighting. Materials: Translucent White Polyester with a tensile structure up to 200 Kn/m, MDF Board, LED Strip light, Stepper Motor,

Target Auience: -High end Niche People -Image Conscious -Hotels Design Insights: Chameleons change their color due to: -Changes in temperature or light -Reflection of their moods -Camouflage Features of the Light: -Light off: Light merged with ceiling -Light on: Light comes down three dimensionally in different levels, suspended from heavy metal balls through ropes. -The forms will be tensile structures made of cloth which will open downwards when the lights turn on and will fold upwards when the lights turn off. -The light will change intensity to create different moods. -L= 10” B=50” Depth=10-15” -Intensity of the light can be changed to create mood lighting Mechanism: The pulley system would be controlled by Arduino to wind and unwind the rope at different time intervals to create dynamism. Project Brief: Innovate a product based upon the mechanism and function of an existing electro-mechanical product. Inspiration: Mechanism of Heat Glue Gun. Product Description: The product is designed to melt food items like jaggery, Sugar, Chocolate, Caramel and Butter with different melting points to make syrups for dressing for waffles, pancakes, etc at the dinner table. Materials: Carbon Fibre body, Copper barrel

Design Insights: Product should have the following features: -Heating should stop at a set temperature -Battery operated for ease of usage -Vessel for keeping solid food item -Inner parts detachable and washable -Since jaggery/chocolate pieces are big, a tube is needed for the pieces to go inside them and then soften and melt into smaller pieces and travel throughout the nozzle and come out in liquid form. -Pressure needed to push the food item forward. -Heating Range of product: 30-110 °C. -A regulator to regulate the temperature of heating. -Wattage needed: 80-160 W About the Product: Machine to put in jaggery, chocolate, sugar, caramel, etc where the heating and melting takes place and come out in liquid form through the nozel. GromTix Project Brief: To study different systems in the surroundings and find possible interfaces where problems exist and design products to solve the problem. Remodified Brief: To design a product/ system to solve the problem of storage of unorganised hair grooming equipments and hanging cables that get entangled at homes. Concept of the Product: A cabinet for organising hair grooming equipments in dressing areas at homes with space constraints. The cabinet will have a sliding shutter door and an elastic string attached to the cable of the equipment that winds and unwinds the cable and stretches out as per the user’s requirements. Materials: 8mm Plywood, Veneer, Elastic, Clamps

Design Insights: -Problem of plugging multiple things at a time -Unorganised and entangled Wires -People do not have time to wrap the wires and hang back -Multiple things hanging on one stand Features of the Cabinet: -Sliding shutter door to save space -Elastic tied with the cable of the equipment doubles up when it unwinds and shrinks when the elastic winds. -The cable and stretches out as per the user’s requirements. -Saves mess of entangled cables -The equipments will be hung on hooks, placed on the back side of the cabinet. -Multiple point electric boards on the inner top of the cabinet for powering the equipments. -One main plug for the entire cabinet that will power all the equipments.

Ligyre Project Brief: To design a "product or a collection" on the concept of sustainability, based on "Reduce, Reuse & Recycle" design methodology. Remodified Brief: To design a Product/Range of products for the category: Corporate gifting space and Conference Solutions, using discarded materials like- Tyre tubes, Tetra packs, Cans and PET bottles for a company named Green the Map. Concept of the Light: This is a hanging ceiling light that can be used as a corporate gifting item. It will be made of waste metal rods and old tyre tubes. Materials: Upcycled Metal Rod, Tyre Tubes

About the Company: Green the Map is India’s largest Delhi-based fair trade, upcycling organization and an arm of Swechha, one of India’s most reputed environmental groups. While visiting their organisation, I got to know that they upcycle tyre tube to make bags, wallets, purses, book covers and a wide range of products. Features of the Cabinet: -Hanging ceiling light -Corporate gifting item. -Dimensions: 16*13*18” -The colour will mainly be Aqua, but it can also be made in different colours as per the preferences of the organisation. -Used as Ceiling light or Floor Lamp Final Product

Napkin Stand Project Brief: To take inspiration from nature and use it in creating an accessory for any product. Inspiration: Twigs Concept Note: Understanding the continuity and that twigs grow out from a main branch of a tree or bush, I have incorporated that in making the hinge for the napkin stand. The profile of the branches have been used in the stand to show the irregularity of the twigs. Materials: Brass


Target Auience: Niche Audience Inspiration: Twigs A twig is a very small thin branch that grows out from a main branch of a tree or bush. It is a small thin terminal branch of a woody plant. The buds on the twig are an important diagnostic characteristic, as are the abscission scars where the leaves have fallen away. The colour, texture, and patterning of the twig bark are also important, in addition to the thickness and nature of pith of the twig. Puzzle Stampers Internship Company: Rubbabu Project Brief: To design a new typeof toy using Rubber Foam for children og age group 3-10, that has not been explored in Rubbabu before. The design should not be very complex since it’s dye had to be made. Concept of the Product: A puzzle stamper with different sides that have different animals. The sides have knobs, such that the sides can be used as individual stampers or they can be fixed to make a cube to use the whole as a stamper. Materials: Latex Rubber Foam

Design Insights: Toys should be: -Simple, fun and playful -Engaging -Imaginative -Enhances Creativity -Improves Motor and cognitive Skills -Enhances concentration level -Trial and Error Method -Develop adult-child bond -Colourful -Helps understand the world -Put things together About the Toy: -Gripping the flocked knob or the rubber cube, enhances the motor skills of the child. -Joining the cube makes the child do lots of trials and errors, thus enhancing their concentration level. -The child’s creativity gets enhanced while stamping different combinations.
