Each morning when I say the Pledge of Allegiance, I not only remember ALL who have sacrificed their lives for my freedom, I also pray for those who are in harm’s way to retain the freedoms of our great nation.
Flag Detail
Flag Detail takes care of everything to do with the American ag at our school. Everyone on the team works hard to do their job. We put the ag up, take it down, and fold it every single day. Students on the team have learned responsibility, respect, and the importance of good listening and keeping their grades up.
One team member shares, “Each morning when I say the Pledge of Allegiance, I not only remember ALL who have sacri ced their lives for my freedom, I also pray for those who are in harm’s way to retain the freedoms of our great nation.”

This is my tenth year teaching. I have a Masters of Elementary Education, with a concentration in Teacher Leadership. I am certi ed to teach Special Education K-12, Regular Education K-6, and Gi ed Education K-12. I feel this gives me an advantage of reaching all students no matter their strengths or weaknesses.
I did not always want to be in education. However, once volunteering in public schools, I decided education was the profession for me. A er having children of my own, I now know that this was God’s purpose all along. I want to be an advocate for my students and help those who may not have the con dence to help themselves.
Duplin County Schools is special to me, not only because it’s where I am from, but also because it is a family. The students and sta know that we have one another’s back and have the best interest of the students at heart.
This year, I have been able to lead the middle school Fellowship of Christian Athletes club. Even though this was a push outside of my comfort zone, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching students grow in their faith. I am adamant that this is their club and I am just here to facilitate and help them get where they want to be. It has been awesome to be involved with middle school students leading and sharing their own experiences with their faith.
My philosophy of teaching is simple. Relationships Matter. A child will not learn or put forth e ort if they do not think the teacher cares. It is my passion to make sure students know at the end of the day, I will be there for them academically and emotionally.
A er 10 years in the profession, I can truly say I love my career. Not every day is easy, but knowing I am advocating and making a di erence in our future makes it all worth it.
