Beginning Teacher Support

2:1

BT TO MENTOR RATIO

Duplin County Schools Beginning Teacher Support Program provides sustained professional development and mentoring for all beginning teachers (BTs) in their first three years. One of the program goals is to help new teachers improve skills and build confidence. Beginning Teacher Coordinators are assigned to all schools to assist administrators, mentors, and new teachers in their quest to become innovative and effective educators. 100% of BTs are assigned a mentor that is located in close proximity to their classroom. Each school has a designated lead mentor who coordinates monthly professional development activities. Consistent classroom support designed to meet each BT’s unique needs is key to retaining novice teachers in our great county and great profession.
