Everything is well that ends well It has been a while since our fairy tale characters last met and they were missing each other. So they called each other on Skype and agreed to meet!
Friends were so happy to catch up. They put up a tent, lit a bonfire, sat around it and started telling each other about their lives and adventures.
The first one was Findus the Cat. “One lovely September day Petson came back home from the forest carrying a big basket full of mushrooms and decided to bake a mushroom pie. But I engaged in my usual activities – jumping around and chasing a ball around the room. I got so carried away that I tipped over Petson’s crystal pumpkin-shaped bowl on a golden stand. Crystal splinters were scattered all over the room. “What happened?” called out Petson from the kitchen. “While I was playing ball a bird flew in and shattered your crystal bowl.” I answered Petson. Petson got so upset that he went to bed. But I got so hungry that I decided to taste the pie and didn’t even notice how I ate it all. Full and happy I went to bed too. “Who ate our pie?!” I woke up by Petson shouting. “It can’t be that bird again! Now I’m going to catch it and it will answer for such tricks!” I got so scared for the bird that I confessed to Petson that it was I who broke the crystal bowl and ate the pie. That way I understood how others can suffer from my lies so I promised never to lie again.”
“I also had a similar story” told Matolik the Goat. “There is a kindergarten near my home where children grow their own cabbage in its garden. So one evening when all children went home I came and saw that wonderful cabbage and thought to myself: ”I only want to taste a couple of crunchy leaves”. I didn’t even notice how I ate all cabbages.
Next morning children saw their garden empty they got very upset. I felt so ashamed so I went to the garden and told children that it was me who ate their delicious cabbage. The children were kind and forgave me. Next year we planted cabbages together and took care of them and when it was time for harvest we ate nice crunchy cabbage together.”
“But because of me almost a whole country vanished once!” Kalevipoeg continued the conversation. There is a magic swamp somewhere in our land and there are growing many wonderful flowers.
When I saw them I wanted same flowers to grow in my home garden so I picked the most beautiful one and put it in a vase at home. Same time a misfortune took place in the magic swamp – all beautiful flowers died and became black and smelly. Swamp habitants came to me asking for help and told me that someone had picked the main flower from their swamp. I became worried about our lovely land and confessed to my friends that I was guilty in what happened. After that I took the beautiful flower and ran to the swamp where I planted it back hoping it would come alive. So it happened, the flower bloomed again – even more beautifully than before and the magic swamp burst into colours once again.
So passed the day – one story after another. For last friends had a swim in the sea, picked some nice flowers to take back to their homelands and said goodbye promising each other to come together more often, to write each other and to communicate by Skype.
