About me I am an international student from Bahrain who wants to create the architectural landmarks of the future, I am hardworking and creative individual that tends to use features from other sectors and nature to solve problems and as an inspiration in my designs poetically and /or physically. I am a fast learner and passionate about improving my skills. I am also into photography and try to implement what I learn from that in my designs to create visually appealing designs that each part of them is for a purpose. I believe architecture should not consist of boxes that are systematically divided into rooms, but a creation of its environment, purpose and functions.

Light | Shadow The aim of this project is to design the school of photography and digital image, following the Japanese theory of respecting the shadows as a space of withdrawal “ma and the manipulation of natural light to create a harmony of the paradox in respect to the needs of each space.

Concept
In my experience at street photography I find my self twisting most of the times as it allows me to follow the subjects faster with the view finder, so I implemented the idea of twisting to frame in the design. The building twist 45 degrees to capture the view of the cathedral with its windows. Furthermore, following the natural lighting concept I designed windows that face Iand indicate both the sun rise and the sun set, their scale is created as a slope that ends according to the neighbouring architecture.

Program
The building contains 7 levels Levels and those are planed on academic course basis, then the spaces are planed to follow the twisted form of the building. The plan includes informal spaces as it is shown that it increases productivity in such creative place. In addition to 1:1 tutorial rooms for privacy and concentration. Each space has its own light needs and by figuring out the overall need of each space I designed three types of faรงades that give either the final lighting of a space or the initial natural lighting that would be further customised to fit the lighting atmosphere intended for the space. The program connects through a feature stair that starts from the reception to the outdoor gallery going through the main spaces of each floor.

Lighting
The twist increases and decreases depending on the sun direction and the space that it shades.
The type of opening differs depending on the quality of light intended for each space
Facing north the facade is fully glazed.
All shading modules are precast off-site to decrease waste.

The studio has all the facade lighting systems to give lighting flexibility. In addition it has a natural over-head lighting created by a light shaft cut-out.
The layered lighting in the auditorium, Liverpool Cathedral framed by the 5th provides diffused and indirect lighting. floor window. It allows the students to concentrate on the lecture without the distraction of the outside and does not over expose the room against the projector.

Structure
The building is constructed with a frame structure that starts with a core which house the elevator and lighting shafts, a waffle slab then is installed for maximum span between the core and columns. Columns are 250mm in radius placed the floors with a 500mm offset for the skin and they are cross braced to control the weight to the ground. The skin is pre-cast off site to reduce the construction waste. The skin is ashcrete as a contrast to the surrounding red bricks. Dark glass to reflect and darken the surroundings to blend with the site.

Weather or not The objective of the project is to design a sustainable building, a place to promote climate change awareness, a social and scientific centre in which visitors learn about the effects of climate change and weather phenomena and what science and architecture are creating to prevent and decrease the damage that they cause.

Concept
The design starts with Irespecting nature by it being built through the trees. Furthermore, the building is lifted on stilts for a couple of reasons. One, to prevent flooding. Two, to keep the agriculture of the site untouched. Furthermore, the building is designed to create an urban environment within Nature, the trees could be seen from most of the spots IVin the building. Meanwhile, a hole goes through the building to allow the rainwater to pass. A green roof is utilised for it’s ecological benefits.

Structure
The building is constructed with recycled steel frame structure each part is bent and molded off site not to cause harm to the agriculture. Furthermore, cross bracing, floor and roof slabs are made out of AshCrete a material that uses 97% recycled material and the rest of the walls are made out of local timber.

Urban design The aim of the of the scheme is to create an urban strategy to revive the a district through designing permanent and temporary structures, planing a structured series of events and creating public spaces

The district
53°24’38.21”N 02°58’16.63”W Fabric district, Liverpool, UK.
The fabric district sits between two main roads, London road which historically was the main road to London from Liverpool and New Islington an A road. It was an industrial district that mostly houses fabric factories, hence the name Fabric district. However, presently the area is mostly deserted buildings with new student accommodation being constructed on the east and west parameters of the 1district.

As a group we created an urban strategy. Having two public squares that are surrounded with facilities such as cafes, commercial and activity spaces. The east square is a public sculpture park and the west square is a recreational park The squares are connected visually with Obelisks. Retail Retail and accommodation Warehouses Student accommodation Fitness centres Construction Buildings to be demolished to create the strategy. 2

Concept
To revive the district my part was to create the east square and I called it Rendezvous sculpture park, a sculpture park because there is not any place in this artistic city where sculpture are the main focus. As the name states the idea behind the square is to create a place where people meet and socialise. In addition, I wanted to reconnect the square to the city and to have a feature that is unique to the square so I created a pattern of lines on the ground in which each line represent a landmark or another meeting place in the city and the materiality of each of these lines is a representation of the place that it points to. The lines turn to urban furniture and lighting and they divide the sculpture park into permanent sculpture spaces and temporary which displays sculptures that win a competition that would be held in winter for Ice sculptures and in every other season for different types of sculptures. The square is surrounded with commercial and fitness places that are of use for the students that live around the square and attracts everybody in Liverpool.
