the edge This project aims to highlight the concept of border. The edge here is given by the line which divide the cliff with the sea. The aim is not to desing on the edge but being the edge, making all the sensations and characteristics that you feel when you are on a border, part of the project. The building is used as a social space, which to be reached need to cross a path in the wood. This journey to reach the build enhances the mysterious and special aspect of it.

concept

The main aspect of this project is based on the vertical wall of the cliff, which conveys a sense of uncertainty, danger, but at the same time conveys thrills and extreme closeness to nature. The structure is divided into two main areas, one used for social space (the one located on the horizontal wall of the cliff, and one located on the vertical wall, used as a space of reflection and reading.

Agriculture is the major economic sector in “Yorkshire�. Land use in the region is currently dominated by agriculture. There are currently around 16.000 main agricultural holdings in the region, which 9686 are owned by the occupant. The effects of the climate change have a strong impact on the region based on agriculture. The changes of temperature and the the annual raining are effecting especially the cultivation of crops, creating disadvantages and advantages. This project seeks to exploit the advantages that climate changes can bring to agriculture and study new adaptation strategy. The aim is to improve the scale of possible chanhe and help to take decisions on adaptation. The build will be useful to a wide range of people involved in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, farmers, landmanager. The project so is based on a build which the aim is to study a new developments of crops, focusing on the future crops which will be in the region due to the new climate, what are the new crops which can adapt at the climate change and which crops can survive and research how the crops can survive at phenomenos as flooding.

site analysis the effects of climate change have a strong impact on the agricultural regions, the changes on the temperature and on the annual rain are effecting especially the cultivation of crops, with disadvantages and advantages, for example, it can be an opportunity to start to grow up new crops given from the new climate, instead as disadvantages, changes of temperature and phenomenos of floodings, drought period,etc. are killing the environment.

THE GREEN HOUSE COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN THIS PROJECT IS ABOUT A SCHOOL OF ARTS HOSTING 250 UNIVERSITY STUDENTS. THE COURSE OF STUDIES AVAILABLE ARE: ARCHITECTURE, GRAPHIC DESIGN AND FINE ART( PAINTING, SCULPTURE AND PHOTOGRAPHY). THE GREENERY, INTENTIONALLY PART OF THE PROJECT, HAS THE AIM OF ENCOURAGING THE STUDENTS TO CONSIDER NATURE AN IMPORTANT PART OF THEIR OWN PROJECTS. THE WIDE GLASS WINDOWS IN THE CLASSROOMS CREATE A STRONG CONNECTION BETWEEN THE STUDENTS AND THEIR ENVIRONMENT SUCH AS THE PEOPLE WALKING BY, THE GEORGIAN BUILDINGS, THE TREES ETC... THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND THE PROJECT IS TO CREATE AN INTERACTION BETWEEN ALL THE FACULTIES FACILITATING MOMENTS OF EXCHANGE AND LINKS AMONGST THE STUDENTS OF OTHER COURSES OF STUDIES AND DEPARTMENTS. ALL THE ABOVE WILL PROMOTE TEAM WORK IMPROVING THE END RESULT AND ADDING NEW PERSPECTIVES AND VALUES TO THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE OF STUDYING IN SUCH AN INNOVATIVE UNIVERSITY.
