The Loop The project consists in combining three main factors: to grow, sell and consume products within one structure with the purpose of optimising energy and its use of waste. It will bring food production close to where people live and work, making it accessible to the public while thinking sustainably. Hence, its name ‘The Loop’ refers to the cycle of nature in which resources are utilised in each step of the way, while incorporating this into an element of architecture. In addition, the shape of the Loop increases in floor size as you go higher to maximise crop yields per floor, its unique form imitates nature through biomimicry by using circles throughout the façade. This creates a strong figure in the prominent location and becomes a statement of the idea for the project.

The Living Park An authentic ecosystem will be created, consisting of several different species for plants and animals to thrive throughout the growth process. The introduction of trees into the facade of the building will help to counteract the atmospheric pollution among the site by absorbing the carbon dioxide. Every apartment will have its own balcony, and the ground floor will have a private garden which will be planted with species appropriate to the local climate. Plants at every level will provide natural shading.

Digital Centre for Research A building where you can work and live while also providing a routeway through, which is located on the ground floor. Consisting of a change in technologies linking to AI possibilities. The design reflects its function by using triangular grids to represent the complexity of digital technologies. It represents a connection between the residential tower and the office tower by having the same triangular grid and plan allowing the building to feel connected as one. This allows for a seamless movement between the two. A connection with nature feels more connected by the typological form between spaces, which reinforces the physical and visual connection between the environmental context and the workplace.

In this drawing, I have chosen to portray my view on the future of electricity . Due to the increase in technological equipment needed to be powered efficiently, electricity is becoming more demanding with time. This can be seen in many buildings across the world which Hand drawin using charcoal and Ink currently use electricity to their uttermost. I chose to use my face and buildings in this drawing to represent the impact of scarce electricity Theme: Surplus and Scarcity in South Africa. I have blended the buildings into my body to show the way it is affecting South Africans. The lower part of the artwork Electricity in the process of becoming extinct : consists of buildings from Dubai (which use electricity immensely) connected via electricity poles. On the other end, a South African skyline is drawn upside down with no connections to electrical poles which suggests that the demand for electricity will only continue to grow.
