(Level 6, Second Semester)
This project was my Comprehensive design project for the end of my BA(HONS) in Architecture. I had to design a library in an urban site that targetted a local, social issue.
I based my design off of the sites exisiting features and used them to organise my circulation spaces and the rest of the design seemed to fall into place.

This project brief was especially challenging due to the ‘unkind’ site conditions, it was located on the side of a steep hill in an area especially prone to flooding. Whilst this made it difficult it encouraged me to play with different levels and create a ‘stepping down’ like effect.
I decided to create this remote observatory that allows the user to directly interact with the surrounding environment and also has a unique relationship with water, tributing the nearby river and the floodplane location.

This brief challeneged me to create a project from a reusable/ reusable material. I chose wooden shipping palettes.
I created an exhibition space to showcase the process in which they are refined/ turned into building materials.
Due to university campuses being in close proximity to the site, i decided to also implement a public outdoor garden space with natural surroundings to break up the urban surroundings
