I am a twenty-two year old graduate of architecture, with marked interests in the current resurgence of playful, postmodern thinking in contemporary design. Outside of university I have traversed Europe when possible, having visited thirty-eight cities in pursuit of noteworthy buildings over the past three years of my studies. Specifically, the prominence of ‘reactionary’ architecture in Italy has been the concern of recent trips. I am an avid reader, particularly of postmodern architectural theory, and enjoy photographing such colourful edifices when spotted. As I hope is pleasantly clear in the following pages, the appreciation I have for orthographic drawing has been integral to my architectural studies, as has graphic playfulness when possible.
Extracurricular / Volunteering / Past Employment Partook in RIBA North One Day Design Event February 2020 Part of a group proposal for the revitalisation of a segment of Bootle Strand into a ‘post-modern playground’. Second Year project featured in 2019 LJMU Degree Show May 2019 Additional works from first and second year exhibited in past issues of the LJMU Architecture Catalogue. ‘Concrete Cynicism’ exhibited in 2017 COLC Foundation Show May 2017 A sculptural / photographic project exploring the current state of – and attitudes towards – British social housing. Event Volunteer at 2017 Threshold Arts Festival Spring 2017 Assisted in event setup and oversaw activities at a number of venues – additionally invigilated at various art installations. Retail Assistant at Primark Liverpool Autumn / Winter 2016 Tasked with providing in-store advice and addressing customer queries, whilst conducting weekly floor changes and prompt stock collation. Archivist at Elliott Fletcher Wealth Management Ltd Summer 2016 Engaged in the initiation of a replacement physical archiving system and dealt with a backlog of pending files, whilst assisting with daily administrative tasks.
Proficiency Highly interested in the graphic persuasiveness of architectural drawing. Adept at physical model-making and material decisions. Thoroughly capable writer – three university essays received highest grade in their respective academic years. Greatly value the importance of visually cohesive and thoughtful presentation. Consistently achieved ‘70+’ in academic assignments since second year. Competent in AutoCAD / Photoshop / Indesign / SketchUp / Microsoft Suite

Past Tense Future Perfect The Birkenhead School of Art The municipal art schools of yesteryear bear little resemblance to the immense, amalgamated institutions of today. As small-town, public establishments proffering the value of creative education, these schools performed a vital public function. This project is situated at the civic heart of Birkenhead – Hamilton Square; a now despondent piece of ambitious Georgian town-planning. It proposes the conversion of a longneglected site into a much-needed repository of workshops and studios. Placed at the forefront of this scheme is the potential for civic restoration and the reconnection of a disengaged Hamilton Street.

Integral to the development of the scheme was the desire to recognise relevant contextual typology – specifically that of which was appropriately applicable to the school programme. The advantageous north-south orientation of the proposed site was emphasised early on.

Weather or Not Hebden Bridge Visitors Centre Hebden Bridge encapsulates Britain’s industrial heritage. The town is dotted with innumerable mills and their striking chimneys. This proposal repurposes what is currently a poorly-positioned carpark, situated on the town’s main thoroughfare. It calls for a significant observation point, alongside a much-needed visitors centre for informing the public on all matters meteorological.

North West Screen Print Studio / Residency / Archive Abutting the boundary of Liverpool’s city centre within the so-called ‘Fabric District’, this proposal reinstates what is currently an underused carpark into an integral facility for graduates and hobbyists alike. Four studio dwellings will serve artist residencies and support the print workshop annually. The design offers a visual link between four ‘primary’ spaces: entrance, print studio, reading room, gallery – all leading to a central courtyard that acts as a pleasant observational spot.

Baltic Edge
Undertaken during the summer transitional period between second and third year, this proposal is a playful, colourful piece of urban intervention. Situated within Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle – on a tapering wedge of land containing the remnants of an underground railway tunnel – this adaptive re-use provides a sliver of greenery amidst former industry and burgeoning construction sites.
Plan with Planter Detailing
Principally, the project acts as a personal exploration of colourful orthographic drawing, alongside particular early-nineties architectural influences.
