My architectural goals are aimed towards sustainability, with strong interests in Passive House and Net-Zero construction techniques. In my spare time, I enjoy understanding how everyday objects are designed and assembled gaining further understanding into their mechanics and how people interact with these products. As well as interests in design I pursue an active lifestyle. As a keen cyclist, I am a member of my
local triathlon club participating in many of their activities including attending dedicated training camps abroad to fulfil my enjoyment of the sport and friendly competition.

Destination + Departure
The project explores the role and function of a Gallery within modern society. The building typology has remained largely unchanged within its modern sense since the 1590s. However, with advances in technology and cultural shifts should the Art Gallery represent something which no longer just displays significant or expensive artworks? Working with emerging technologies and trends such as virtual reality and digital art the scheme proposes a gallery which no longer emphasises displaying historic works but one which focuses on creating user-focused experiences as well as showcasing the latest technologies. The Gallery seeks to break the stigma around the art world by showcasing digital artworks that
are accessible to all with the recent popularity boom behind the NFT world. The Gallery will host a series of exhibitions showcasing popular NFT artworks whilst allowing visitors to create and display their works leaving a lasting digital footprint within the Gallery. Alternatively, users will be able to experience a range of visually stimulating experiences through different media such as visual projection and augmented reality. Users will be able to choose from a library of Augmented Reality showcases enabling them to explore different exhibitions simultaneously within the same space creating a truly unique experience.

The Barras EXISTS TODAY AS A HOME FOR MULTIPLE SMALL BUSINESSES WITH BUDDING CREATIVE SPACES, however these ALL OPERATE INDEPENDENTLY and give the Barras a FRAGMENTED nature. The SPINE as a design intervention aims to create a more cohesive Barras experience by CONNECTING THESE FRAGMENTS and harnessing vacant areas to introduce activities THAT INTERRELATE AND EMBRACE THE CREATIVE DIRECTION which the region is heading towards. The scheme aims to-do this through a SERIES OF 2 MAIN INTERVENTION POINTS. The FIRST of which being the large triangle are at the top of the
site. The scheme transforms this area into a COMMUNITY FOCUSED DEVELOPMENT which will be home to the a proposed new society call the Barras Conservation Society who will be tasked with managing the development. The area also creates a series of new indoor garden spaces which work in partnership with the University of Strathclyde’s plant research group. The SECOND intervention location is the defined ‘Barras’ area and will become GLASGOW’S NEW CREATIVE quarter building on the budding art culture within the area. This area will not only focus on the arts but a range of other talents providing facilities for local residents to develop their talents.

Group Work Live Project
The live project seeks to benefit a perfect platform for continued community allotment project by improvement to the garden over proposing a series of interventions the coming years. improving the facilities present. The interventions have been selected from a wish-list presented by the client during the first meeting. We believe that a number of the desired elements from the wish-list can be achieved simultaneously through a carefully designed new fencing line. Not only will this active perimeter address the existing issues on the site, it will also bring new benefits beyond what we thought was initially achievable. The fence design has the greatest scope for lasting impact without disturbing the existing qualities of the allotments, offering a

Mill Street Terrace Development
The project seeks to build on the group masterplan by developing housing next to a proposed market. There is an existing mill present which will be removed for the creation of the homes and the market. The project forms a contemporary approach to terraced housing by offering residents more space and more efficient housing through the adoption of Passive House. The project is informed partially by an existing brick portion of the mill noting the character of the gable end roof along with the many setbacks present in other parts of the mill. These setbacks have become a dominant feature within the project breaking the traditional single plain frontage of many terraced streets within
the area. This subtle change in plain is used to create additional defensible space at the front of the property alongside the definition of individual properties, something not present in Corn Street adjacent to the site. Providing a mixture of home sizes the development is suitable for the demographics of the site offering smaller homes for single occupancy and or elderly. Larger homes such as model 98A/B are suitable for families of most sizes capable of housing 5 residents. The largest of homes available is suitable for large/ growing families offering 23m2 of adaptable space which can be configured as additional living space or bedrooms.

Individual Urban Design
Building on the masterplan generated during the group stage of the project, I sort to explore the lower portion of the site which had been named the Community Hub. Seeking to investigate how this area could become a hinge for the scheme and possibly the wider area of Dingle the space was considered as comprising of two elements performance and spectacle. The performance element of the scheme would be the main driving force behind encouraging community engagement on a wider scale to hold events and performance for the community to enjoy. With a lack of community engagement identified in the earlier phases of the project, this has remained a key driving
force throughout the process. An outdoor performance space also relates strongly to current global issues as many indoor venues are forced to close. The provision of this space as one of the only outdoor venues within Liverpool will help to create a hinge drawing people into the area. The spectacle element of the scheme offers visual connections to the surrounding area whilst also providing views over the scheme itself. Consisting of a network of terraces connected via a walkway which allows users of the area to negotiate the cliff present on-site allowing free movement from the upper areas of the group masterplan and Dingle down into the performance space, further connecting onto Sefton Street.

Performance
The performance aspect of the scheme is centred around the idea of community engagement allowing the wider community to come together throughout the year. This is done through the use of a performance space which can be used by community groups to hold events and shows alongside hosting movie screening events throughout the year. The area also incorporates space for rehearsal and the production of any props required for the performances. The amphitheatre itself is capable of being run all year round with the provision of a removable canopy to allow performances to continue during adverse weather conditions.

Supporting these events are a selection of food markets run by local community members who manage the entire process of food production from crop growth in the vertical farms to food preparation then to point of sale.

Spectacle
Spectacle within the scheme is considered as the views obtained whilst traversing the ramp through the artificial forest. The artificial forest is created to provide glimpses of four key vistas through the trees: Herculaneum Key, Port Sunlight River Park, Welsh Mountains, Rock Ferry Promenade. Each of these vistas offers a different visual stimulant throughout the journey which will constantly change throughout the seasons and as the artificial forest matures. Along the route are five platforms positioned to capture the aforementioned views and allow points of rest. These platforms are home to several covered seating pods allowing occupants to inhabit for smaller social gatherings.

The artificial forest is produced by transplanting a series of trees such as Maple, Elm and Oak the diagrams to the right show the planting locations for each of these species and the height of each specie considered for transplanting alongside project growth.

The scheme focus’ on the reunification of small pocket communities in the area of Dingle. Building on initial research we identified a lack of public services and communal interaction. Drawing from the analysis we concluded the area suffers heavily from anti-social behaviour and discourages community engagement within key parts of the site. This with the combined lack of public forums and community led spaces has created a disconnect between its residents and the surrounding area.
socio-economic problems within the area. The community hub will introduce zones for wider engagement and provide space for social gatherings and interactions by incorporating a large performance space. The introduction of a market space will coincide with the community hub and alongside other merchandise will sell goods produced within the on-site vertical farm. These space’s will be linked via a pedestrianised street which serves as the spine connecting the two spaces. The two areas are opposite but also complimentary providing both social public Our scheme aims to provide the activities and everyday activities. facilities necessary to be the catalyst for public engagement helping to restore the fragmented communities and tackle the
