To reflect the transition between solid wood and engineered timber, a laminated veneer lumber diagrid will be used to provide the structure of the workshop. The diagrid creates an open 400m2 space supported by columns around the perimeter of the workshop. This diagrid is visible from the shop which uses a traditional timber frame. Timber fins will be used on the North facade of the workshop, facing onto seel street, to give glimpses into the workshop whilst to glorify the view from inside the shop. The timber fins also allow in extra natural light to the workshop.
