CDP - CORES OF CHANGE
The brief set for this project was to design a new Northern Assembly to represent the people and cities of the North of England. The project is situated in the heart of the Liverpool waterfront neighbouring the Liver building. The building expresses community in its concept as attempting to extend the public realm creates a communal and inspiring space for the people and the future. Another driving concept for the building was that it developed in complexity as the visitor walks through. The first core is to introduce, thus meaning the majority of the public spaces are at the start of the building. Centrally the purpose of the building is to discuss. Meaning that’s where the majority of the collaboration between the politicians and the public happens. And finally, the last core is to debate.

WEATHER OR NOT
The brief for the weather or not project was to design a weather station on the Fell Foot Natural Trust site in Windermere. The site itself presented its unique challenges due to the nature of it being sloped and prone to flooding. The main concepts of this small scale project were views and circulation. Views were especially important due to the location of the site. And as the project was small scale circulation was crucially important to maximise the possible floor area of the building. To achieve this all the circulation was pulled outside to a covered internal courtyard. Giving the building its form.

THE RED ON THE PLAN SHOWS THE HIGH LINE OF THE 2015 FLOODS THAT E FOOT AND THE NEWBURY BRIDGE AREA. THE BUILDING IS PLACED ON THIS AND IS DESIGNED WITH A CONCRETE BASE AND A 1M CONCRETE EDGE AT T OF THE WALLS. THIS ALLOWS THE BUILDING TO BE FLOODED RATHER THAN WATER OUT IT EMBRACES IT AND LETS THE WATER THROUGH. DUE TO THE OF THE FIRST METER OF THE BUILNG MINIMAL TO NO DAMAGE WOULD OCC EVENT AND WOULD BE EASILLY CLEANED.

LIVERPOOL LIVE LOUNGE
The Liverpool Live Lounge aims to bring back the musical culture and identity Liverpool had in the past. The site that was presented to do this was very promising being located in the heart of the baltic triangle. An area flurrying with different activities and cultures. However, this flurry presented a challenge. The location of the building meant that acoustically it was a challenge to get the recording studios quiet enough to record. The solution was to push them down into a basement where it would be more insulated from sound.
