ABOUT ME I am currently 20 years old, and in my third year of studying architecture at Liverpool John Moores University. My specific interests within the field of architecture lie in urban planning, and the design of interior spaces. My interest in the wider conditions in which architecture exists was precipitated by reading Richard Sennett’s ‘Building and Dwelling: Ethics for the City’. Sennett’s commentary on the obstacles, among successes, that have littered the history of urban design, and his reflections upon how the ideologies of designers such as Cerdà and Haussmann, have weaved the fabric of the cities in which we dwell today, highlighted to me the importance of planning systems in the future of urban development. I aspire to be a part of the creation of consciously and sustainably developed urban spaces, that facilitate the supply to cater for the ever growing demand for the functions of the city. LIVERPOOL WEATHER AND CLIMATE LIBRARY In more developed countries, there tends to be a disassociation with the impacts of climate change, a conception that tropical cyclones, drought and severe floods are events that only affect countries that are too far away, and too different to ours, for it to be a risk to us, and our way of life. However as global warming continues, and temperatures rise, the risk of similar events occuring here, in Liverpool, will grow. The greater our awareness of this happening in other places currently, and the inevitability of them happening here in the future, the more engaged the local community will be with interrupting the current trajectory of climate change, and making a positive difference not only to our future, but the present of other parts of the globe.

SEEL STREET COMMUNITY KITCHEN The aim of my project is to create a small scale, food redistribution project, to benefit the homeless and low income population in the ropewalks area, while simultaneously minimising food waste and encouraging interaction and a sense of community among the residents.
