IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Abandonment Policy

In the event of a race meeting being abandoned after the first race has been run, no refund will be made in respect of admission charges and emergency admission tickets will be invalid.

Admission Policy

The Management reserves the right to refuse admission to, or expel any person from, the racecourse, without assigning a reason for so doing, and does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to persons or to their property.

Disabled Users

Free parking is available by the turnstiles for blue badge holders. For disabled visitors requiring a carer, the carer is admitted free of charge. There is disabled access to both restaurants and a variety of disabled toilets across the racecourse.

Dress Code

Racegoers are advised to wear attire suitable to the weather conditions, however patrons in the Premier Enclosure are requested not to wear sports shorts, ripped denim or football shirts. Shirts must be worn at all times in all enclosures.

Emergency Procedures for your safety

Should an incident occur which is beyond our control, it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you. As part of our safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced security staff to be located at various points throughout the Racecourse. This information is precautionary and we trust the procedures will not be needed. Please remember in the event of an emergency, to take your belongings with you and under the direction of Brighton Racecourse representatives, proceed quickly and quietly to the agreed area.

Horse Welfare Comes First at Brighton

The safety of horse and rider is of paramount importance to Brighton Racecourse. We have a team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at all times and a horse ambulance in attendance at every meeting. It is policy at this racecourse for screens to be erected when a horse requires veterinary treatment on the track. This is to offer some privacy and calm for both horse and vet and does not automatically imply that a fatality has occurred. Equine care at Brighton is provided by the Equine Veterinary Hospital at Arundel. To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy, please visit our website: www.brighton-racecourse.co.uk

Radios and Mobile Telephones

The use of all types of communication equipment is strictly controlled at all racecourses. Members of the public may not use two-way radios, scanning receivers etc., for any purpose at the racecourse. Mobile telephones may not be used in or near any designated betting area, or for offcourse betting purposes. Further details are available from the racecourse office.

Photography

Racegoers may take photographs for private purposes in the Grandstand & Paddock and Premier Enclosure. Under no circumstances may photographs taken on the Racecourse be used for publication. Flash photography is extremely dangerous where horses are involved and we kindly ask you not to use flash photography anywhere in the Paddock or near the Winners’ Enclosure.

Taxi

A complimentary telephone is available in the Racecourse Reception to book taxis. Alternatively, racegoers can call Streamline Taxis on 01273 202020. It is advisable to book as far in advance as possible to avoid any delay.

HBLB Prize Money

The Horserace Betting Levy Board prize fund schemes provide for the estimated inclusion of £451,971 at this racecourse in 2022.

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims.

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

ARABIAN RACE 4:57 RACE DISTANCE 7F216Y (1,600M) FOR PUREBRED ARABIANS, 4YO+, RATED 0-75 (ALSO OPEN TO SUCH HORSES RATED 76 AND 77; SEE STANDARD CONDITIONS).

WATHBASTALLIONS.COM HANDICAP STAKES 0-75 Total race value £ 4000 | Owners Prize Money. 1st £2061, 2nd £966.80, 3rd £483.60, 4th £241.60, 5th £120.80, 6th £60.40 Weights: highest weight 10st minimum weights: 8st2lb Amateur and Apprentice Jockeys registered with the BHA or a recognised Racing Authority can claim as per regulation 54

RACE SUMMARY A competitive affair for the grade with several veterans looking to recapture past glories against younger horses on the upgrade. Tijaary’s career best was at this trip at the highest level on quick two years ago, he’s slipped down the ratings and his jockey’s allowance could help. Jaahez is another fast ground performer who is down in the weights, though none have dropped further than Storm Troupour who makes considerable appeal at this level. Both Zayin Zyperion and Awtaar have to prove they can progress and AWTAAR looks to have the right conditions to do so here.

The Harry Bloom Memorial Trophy Harry Bloom was born in London and moved to Hove with his wife Clare in 1946. He started a small motor trading business that flourished into four branches; later he and his four sons ventured into the hotel and catering business, including buying the Langfords and Imperial hotels. In 1971 he joined the board of Brighton & Hove Football Club as Vice Chairman. His appointment culminated in his lasting legacy to the club in his nine years by creating a hugely successful lottery. Harry passed away in January 1980 at the age of 71 and his success in many commercial ventures made Harry one of the most successful and well known businessmen in Brighton & Hove. Following in the footsteps of his Grandfather, Tony joined the board in 2009 when he became chairman. His appointment brought a vital infusion of financial backing culminating in the development of the architecturally beautiful American Express Community Stadium, which opened in July 2011. The entire family are fanatical Brighton & Hove Albion supporters and they are once again at the forefront in supporting local sport by sponsoring this afternoon’s race and will be presenting the Harry Bloom Memorial Trophy to the owner of the winning horse.
