HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II - 2022
It was with deep sorrow that we learnt of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. On behalf of everyone at Brighton Racecourse, we send our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the entire Royal Family for their loss.
1926
Queen was devoted to racing, which can be seen with the number of horses who ran in her name over the years, including Talent & Set The Fashion who both won the Brighton Mile Challenge Trophy in 1992 & 1993 respectively. Jim Beavis states in his book ‘The Brighton Races’ that “Her Majesty liked the trophy so much that she had it restored”, and is the trophy that we still present each year during our Brighton Festival of Racing.
Queen Elizabeth II loved our sport, and the sport loved Her Majesty; from the joy that jockeys had when they could ‘don’ her colours (and hopefully ride a winner!), to the thrill it spread when she visited racecourses. Many memories have been created over the years, and all of us in the racing industry will fondly remember one of our greatest supporters.
go out to King Charles III and all the Royal Family at this time, and may Queen Elizabeth II rest in Godpeace.save the King.
Stephanie Wethered Clerk of the Course
We are delighted that you could join us on what is a sad time for the country with the passing of Queen Elizabeth TheII.
Welcome to Brighton Racecourse, where today we host a seven-race card.
WELCOME
To show our gratitude and respect to Queen Elizabeth II there will be a two-minute silence at 13:35, prior to the first race. So please do join us around the racecourse, or gather around the Parade Ring, as tribute to the many devoted years of service that Her Majesty gave to our Ourcountry.thoughts
