RACE IN FOCUS
Endless Escape is among the 7 runners
The Capital Windscreens Supports Muscular Dystrophy Charity Mares’
Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 3) (Challenger Mares’ Hurdle Series Qualifier)
A trappy event in which all seven runners have a chance.
The likeable Blue Beach has performed well in cheekpieces and with headgear retained today, she can give another good account of herself. However, she might be vulnerable to a less exposed rival and the lightly-raced Sedge Wren fits that description.
This daughter of Blue Bresil jumped more fluently on her second hurdles start when scoring convincingly at Southwell. She does have a 403-day absence to overcome though, and today’s underfoot conditions represent a different test.
Followango has less to prove. The 6-year-old mare ran well at Chepstow on her penultimate start over an inadequate 2 miles, and she built on that effort when stepped up to today’s distance at Lingfield last month, beaten just a nose. A repeat of that performance should be enough to claim victory here. Despite a tendency to jump slightly to the right, she is on a favourable handicap mark and with track, trip and ground in her favour, Evan Williams’ charge is taken to see off the challenge of chief danger Sammy’s Guarantee, who finished a creditable second at Hereford 21 days ago.
The return to a more galloping track should suit Tom Lacey’s mare. On her penultimate start, she relished Newbury’s long home-straight, showing a likeable attitude when galloping on strongly to break her maiden tag. The form of that race has worked out well, and another bold showing is expected here - she can chase home the selection.

RACE SUMMARY
It was hard not to be impressed with THOR DE CERISY when scoring over C&D just over 3 weeks ago so Neil Mulholland’s 10-y-o is fancied to make light of an 8lb rise at the expense of Happy And Fine, who had his winning run ended faced with an entirely different test in the Timeform Novices’ Handicap Chase at Cheltenham and can make his mark back in a small-field environment.
