WELCOME
TO DONCASTER RACECOURSE
Welcome to the second day of the SBK Lincoln Weekend Good afternoon and welcome to Doncaster Racecourse for the second day of the SBK Lincoln weekend. We would like to thank today’s sponsor SBK for their most generous and continued support. Our raceday presenter Roger Hart and tipster Kevin Ackerman will be in the Parade Ring at 13.25 to run through today’s races and hopefully help you pick out some winners! To celebrate Mother’s Day we have some additional entertainment around the racecourse today. Look out for our roaming magician and balloon-modelling clown in the Exhibition Hall as well as our team of talented face painters. The Children’s Air Ambulance are hosting a colouring competition with some fantastic prizes up for grabs, there’ll be a disco in the hall between races and of course our fun fair is in the family enclosure for all to enjoy. The flat is well and truly back and we are looking forward to our fantastic line up of fixtures this year – including our five live music nights and the Cazoo St Leger Festival. Tickets can be purchased through our website, and don’t forget that Annual Membership offers significant savings on these fixtures as well as fixtures across our 16 ARC racecourses. Everyone here at Doncaster would like to wish a huge congratulations to Hollie Doyle and Tom Marquand who got married this week and are riding at Town Moor today. We are delighted you’ve joined us and our team are committed to making your ay as enjoyable as possible. We wish you the best of luck, hope you enjoy your day and wish all our mums a very happy Mother’s Day!

Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

It’s been a while since KING’S CASTLE’s sole success but he couldn’t have gone any closer at Wolverhampton last month, just left a shade too far back to get up. He gets the verdict to double his career tally with this step back up in trip sure to suit. El Picador did well under the circumstances having missed the break at Southwell recently so he’s put forward as the main threat, ahead of My Brother Mike and Kitten’s Dream.

HORSE WELFARE COMES FIRST AT DONCASTER At every race meeting at Doncaster our top priority is the safety and welfare of both horse and rider. We have a dedicated team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at all times and a horse ambulance in attendance at every meeting. Use of Screens It is our policy to erect green screens around any horse requiring veterinary attention. This does NOT reflect the severity of any injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse.
