Offical Raceday Programme | £4

For one in two of us, cancer will change everything. When it does, so can we. At Weston Park Cancer Charity, we promise to be there, with patients and their families; providing support, advice, therapies and services. We even fund pioneering research and clinical trials led by the exceptional medical experts at Weston Park Cancer Centre – it’s no exaggeration to say that this work saves lives. Since 2016 our race evenings have raised nearly £150,000. But each year, as our need to reach more people continues, we must ask again. So please join us for a flutter with a cause. You’ll help make it possible for us to be there, for every patient in our region, at every step. Thank you. Never stop. Emma Clarke CEO Weston Park Cancer Charity

WELCOME

TO DONCASTER RACECOURSE

Good evening and welcome to Doncaster Racecourse as we kick off the extended Bank Holiday weekend with our second Live After Racing event of the year. We would like to thank today’s sponsors Weston Park Cancer Charity and Ant Marketing for their most generous and continued support. Weston Park volunteers will be around the racecourse today collecting for this worthwhile cause, so please give what you can. We are delighted to be welcoming Kaiser Chiefs back to the stage at Town Moor at around 9:30pm and we hope you enjoy the show. Our VIP wristbands give you exclusive access to watch the show from the Clock Tower steppings located at the side of the stage. Wristbands can be purchased for £5 from the start of the 1st race, from the racecard booth next to the Double Trigger statue in the Grandstand Enclosure. Please note, there are a limited number of VIP wristbands so make sure you get yours before they sell out to avoid any disappointment. Our Live After Racing series continues this summer with Paloma Faith on 25th June, Nile Rodgers and Chic on 16th July and McFly on 13th August. Tickets are on sale now at www. doncaster-racecourse.co.uk and include a full afternoon of racing followed by the live music. We hope you’ll join us tomorrow for our Platinum Jubilee Raceday, as we celebrate 70 years of Her Majesty The Queen. We’ll be taking a look back at her career in horse racing and her royal victories at Town Moor. After a full day’s racing, the street party will continue on the Champagne Lawn with live entertainment from ‘Decade Explosion’ who are sure to get you up on the dance floor with hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Our Lakeside Village Dinocaster Racecourse Family Fun Day is on Sunday 12th June and is sure to be a great day out for the whole family. You’ll be transported back millions of years to see Zeus the giant T Rex, a Triceratops, Raptor and Spinosaurus roaming around Dinocaster Racecourse. Have a chat with Cory the Talking Dilophosaurus Dinosaur, see baby dinosaurs hatching from their eggs, register as a trainee ranger at the Dino Basecamp or take part in a dinosaur dig to see if you can discover prehistoric dinosaur bones. Tickets are available at www.doncaster-racecourse.co.uk. Our raceday presenter Bobby Beevers and resident tipster Roger Hart will be in the Parade Ring at around 4:30pm to run through today’s racecard and hopefully pick you some winners! Finally, everyone at Doncaster Racecourse would like to send their sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Lester Piggott and those closest to him. With 4,493 career wins in Britain, including nine Epsom Derby victories, Lester was the last jockey to take the Triple Crown winning the St Leger on Nijinsky in 1970, the Epsom Derby and the 2000 Guineas Stakes in the same year. As always, our team here at Doncaster are committed to doing our very best to ensure you enjoy your day and we value any feedback you may have. We wish you the best of luck today! Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

We’re extremely grateful for the support of organisations including Ant Marketing, who are headline sponsors for the Weston Park Annual Race Evening.

“Weston Park saved my life” Like so many of our supporters, the reason for their support is personal following company CEO Anthony Hinchliffe’s life-changing xperience of a cancer diagnosis and treatment in 2017. Following a bowel cancer diagnosis, Anthony underwent five weeks of radiotherapy treatment each weekday, plus a six-hour operation. After his treatment, he was – and still is – thanking Weston Park for saving his life. A huge thank you to Ant Marketing - headline sponsors of the Weston Park Race Evening.

HORSE WELFARE COMES FIRST AT DONCASTER At every race meeting at Doncaster our top priority is the safety and welfare of both horse and rider. We have a dedicated team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at all times and a horse ambulance in attendance at every meeting. Use of Screens It is our policy to erect green screens around any horse requiring veterinary attention. This does NOT reflect the severity of any injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse. Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse! 17

A fascinating novice which features the belated return of promising pair KING FAIRY and Glen Savage. The former hasn’t been see for nearly 2 years but it’s interesting that his top connections have stuck with him and he gets the vote, with confidence increased should the betting vibes be strong. Liseo and Warren Point also look to possess plenty of talent and should have a part to play in what looks a really useful contest.
