TIMEFORMVIEWImpressive when scoring by a wide margin on his debut at Nottingham and had no trouble following up in 10.2f novice at Newcastle. Took form to another level when narrow winner of Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot. Not disgraced back down in trip when fourth in Grand Prix de Paris and this test will suit.
Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race.
HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

A wide-open renewal with plenty of progressive and unexposed colts but MILITARY ORDER’s win at Lingfield was the most convincing of all the trials, so this brother to 2021 Derby winner Adayar has plenty going for him with his stamina guaranteed. Passenger arguably would have won the Dante at York (on only his second career start) had he not been forced to wait for a gap so he is high on the shortlist along with Chester Vase winner Arrest, who should continue to improve.

PROSPEROUS VOYAGE is the class act in this field and is best excused a lesser effort on soft ground at Newmarket on return, so she gets the nod ahead of Potapova, who is expected to bounce back from a tame return (had an excuse). BLOW YOUR HORN is admittedly the type that needs everything to drop just right, which wasn’t the case when he came in for strong support at Chelmsford last time Still, he is lurking on a very attractive mark and, in the hope that things pan out more favourably here, the 6-y-o gets the nod.The Dancing Poet should be sharper following his recent spin here and is next on the list ahead of Daniel Deronda andWannabe Brave

PLAY SMARTER
The inaugural running of this out-and-out speed test for the 3-y-os with the narrow vote in favour of CAN TO CAN. She could hardly have been any more impressive when bolting up in first-time blinkers at Newcastle 25 days ago and, out of a smart sprinter, that may well not prove her limit provided the headgear has the desired effect once more. Miss Brazen looks a shrewd acquisition for the Easterby team and she promises to figure, along with Jm Jungle who is another knocking firmly on the door

MISS ROBERTS and Oops, second and fourth respectively at Newmarket a fortnight ago, are likely to come to the fore The latter is likely to appreciate the extra yardage here but she may again fail to match Miss Roberts, who looked green and wasn’t knocked about in that novice event. Jiwin also made a promising start to her career at Yarmouth and merits respect, while Raknah should leave her Newcastle effort well behind in time Star of Mystery is most appealing of the newcomers

RACE STATS RACE SUMMARY
RESOLUTE MAN failed to land the odds at Newbury last month but still advanced his form and is taken to make it 2-3 here. The returning Onslow Gardens would be a major threat though if back from his eight-month absence in top form. Owen Burrows’ newcomer Game Set can’t be discounted either, especially if the market speaks in his favour

FOX JOURNEY won in the style of a colt going places at Newmarket and is selected to make light of a 9lb rise. Andrew Balding has won this 3 times since 2017 so his coursescorer Kadovar has to enter the reckoning under William Buick. Handicap-newcomers Balance Play, whose Salisbury reappearance form looks strong, and Torito complete the shortlist in this good-quality 3-y-o handicap.

PLAY SMARTER
A rapidly progressive filly in handicaps last term (dual C&D winner), CAIUS CHORISTER produced a very promising comeback effort when runner-up here (10f) in April and, with the return to further rating a plus, she gets the narrow vote to come out on top under Ryan Moore. Impressive York winner Scampi, another C&D winner, is feared, as is Sheer Rocks who scored with a bit to spare on return at Ascot and is also respected with Harry Davies taking off a handy 3lb.

HORSE WELFARE COMES FIRST AT DONCASTER
At every race meeting at Doncaster our top priority is the safety and welfare of both horse and rider We have a dedicated team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at all times and a horse ambulance in attendance at every meeting.
Use of Screens
It is our policy to erect green screens around any horse requiring veterinary attention. This does NOT reflect the severity of any injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse.
Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse!

RACE SUMMARY
Of the older horses, the quicker the ground, the more it will suit Abiyah Athbah. However they’re giving plenty of weight away and market support for any of the debutants should be noted, particularly the Owen pair whose stable is flying with both Arabians and Thoroughbreds. Thakeera Al Shahania comes from a good dam line and is by a sire with a near 20% global strike rate this year, though suspicion is she’ll need further than this to score, despite application of cheek pieces. LUJAIN caught the eye in every run last term and is sure to improve this, she’s the narrow pick with conditions likely to play to her strengths again here.
