THE NOVEMBER HANDICAP IS ALWAYS A THRILLING SIGHT AS A BUMPER SIZE FIELD FACE-OFF FOR VICTORY IN THIS HISTORIC RACE WHICH HAS BEEN RUN SINCE 1876 AND AT DONCASTER RACECOURSE FROM 1964. IN TERMS OF FLAT HORSE RACING IN NOVEMBER, THIS IS TRADITIONALLY ONE OF THE MOST COMPETITIVE HANDICAPS OF THE LOT!
WELCOME
TO DONCASTER RACECOURSE
Hello and welcome to Doncaster Racecourse for Kameko Futurity Trophy. We are delighted you’ve joined us here today and we would like to thank our sponsors Qatar Racing and Tweenhills, William Hill, Doncaster Groundworks and Reinforcements, Red Rock Partnership Recruitment, our annual box holder Alan Wood Plumbing and Heating and the family and friends of Scott Dobson for their generous support of today’s fixture. We have a division so there are 8 races on the card and our raceday presenter Bobby Beevers and resident tipster Kevin Ackerman will be in the Parade Ring at around 12:50 to run through the racecard with you and hopefully pick you out some winners! The feature race today is the Kameko Futurity Trophy Stakes at 14:10 – the final Group 1 race of the British Flat season. This race showcases the stars of tomorrow and is often a good pointer of two-year-olds to follow in their Classic season. The Futurity Trophy Stakes has an impressive roll of honour which includes Auguste Rodin, Saxon Warrior, Magna Grecia and St Nicholas Abbey. Will you see a future star in action today? Make sure you visit the Exhibition Hall today before the first race and between races where you can rock out to Under the Influence, who will be performing live! Their final performance will be just after the 7th race. On 11th November we’d love you to join us for the Virgin Bet November Handicap. The British Flat turf season began with the Lincoln Handicap at Doncaster in April, when we opened ‘The Greatest Show’, and ends with the Virgin Bet November Handicap, when we will draw the curtains on the British Flat season and take a final bow. National Hunt returns to Town Moor on 1st December when we begin the countdown to Christmas with jumps fixtures on the 1st, 2nd, 15th and 16th December. Wear your best (or worst) Christmas Jumpers to these racedays for your chance to win fantastic prizes! Our final fixture of 2023 is our Winter Family Fun Raceday on Friday 29th December. Remember remember the 5th of November and join us for Night of Colours Fireworks. Enjoy all our FREE family entertainment including a Kid’s Disco, Circus Workshop, Face Painting, and a Colouring Station before we light up the skies over Doncaster Racecourse with our colourful fireworks display! Covered viewing is available in case the British weather decides to be typically British and there’ll be plenty of places to eat and drink. Tickets start at just £25 for a family of four, or why not make your Bonfire Night celebrations extra special and book a table in our Sparklers restaurant? Our Christmas Live party nights return in December. Whether it’s an office ‘do’ or a festive celebration with family and friends, join us as we roll back the decades and dance the night away at Christmas Live – Dance the Decades! You’ll enjoy compere-led entertainment with live performances and music, a festive three-course meal, after-dinner disco and much, much more! Or why not ring in the New Year at our glamorous Black Tie Gala Ball. With Champagne and canapés on arrival, a delicious four-course meal, live entertainment, resident DJ and Champagne toast and fireworks at midnight – it’s the perfect way to welcome 2024 with family and friends. Tables are selling fast for Dance the Decades and New Year’s Eve so reserve yours today at www.doncaster-racecourse.co.uk! We hope you enjoy your day with us here on Town Moor and as always, our team here at Doncaster are committed to doing our very best to ensure you enjoy your day and we value any feedback you may have. Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

HORSE WELFARE COMES FIRST AT DONCASTER At every race meeting at Doncaster our top priority is the safety and welfare of both horse and rider. We have a dedicated team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at all times and a horse ambulance in attendance at every meeting. Use of Screens It is our policy to erect green screens around any horse requiring veterinary attention. This does NOT reflect the severity of any injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse. Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse!

Each of the last six winners of the Kameko Futurity Trophy has gone on to score at least once at Group One level as a three-year-old. Recent Futurity Trophy winners Saxon Warrior, Magna Grecia and Kameko all went on to victories in the QIPCO 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket. Fittingly, Qatar Racing’s sponsorship of the race will see this year’s renewal run under the KAMEKO Futurity Trophy banner acknowledging his record when winning the sole running of a Group 1 race on the All Weather in British racing history, smashing the two-year-old track record at Newcastle in 2019. KAMEKO re-entered the record books the following year when winning the fastest ever running of the QIPCO 2,000 Guineas. Aidan O’Brien is the leading trainer of the Kameko Futurity Trophy Stakes having tasted success on eleven occasions. He will be looking for a third consecutive win in the race following Luxembourg’s success in 2021 and this year’s Derby, Irish Derby and Irish Champion Stakes Winner, Auguste Rodin, impressive victory last season. Diego Valazquez, who was bought for 2,400,000 guineas as yearling, has won both of his two starts and was last seen winning the Group Two Champions Juvenile Stakes at Leopardstown at the beginning of September. Ante post favourite, Ancient Wisdom, has been supplemented for this year’s race for a fee of £17,500. Running in the famous Godolphin blue silks, The Charlie Appleby-trained son of Dubawi was an impressive victor of the Group Three Autumn Stakes at Newmarket on his last appearance and has won three of his four career starts. Ancient Wisdom will be hoping to provide dual Champion Trainer Charlie Appleby with a first success in the Kameko Futurity Trophy Stakes.

ANCIENT WISDOM was most impressive when resuming winning ways in the Autumn Stakes at Newmarket 2 weeks ago and he sets a clear standard. but a friend to all
Scott was an inspirational character with his good looks and cool swagger, you could feel his presence in the room no matter what. I looked up to Scott a lot, with him being the big brother I seen the most, from copying his hairstyle to taking a T-shirt out of his wardrobe all I wanted (and I think a lot of people wanted) was to be just like Scott. He was a born winner from asking a girl out at the bar to having a bet on the horses, losing wasn’t in Scott’s arsenal he was a natural at everything he did. If you knew Scott you know how much off a loss he is to friends and family so today we come together and celebrate his 37th birthday down here doing what he loved. So please raise a glass and remember loved ones, raise a glass for the legend Scott Dobson.
Lots of love, Aaron
