WELCOME

TO DONCASTER RACECOURSE

Hello and welcome to Doncaster Racecourse for our Countdown to Christmas Raceday. We are delighted you’ve joined us here today and we would like to thank our sponsors Polypipe, Howarth Timber & Building Supplies, Yates Drywall Ltd and Bet365 for their generous support of today’s fixture. Following the abandonment of Huntingdon’s fixture on Sunday 10th December, there are now 8 races on the card, with the Listed Mares’ National Hunt Flat race rescheduled to be run at Town Moor today. The first race is at 11:25 and our raceday presenter Bobby Beevers and resident tipster Kevin Ackerman will be in the Parade Ring at around 10:50 to run through the racecard with you and hopefully pick you out some winners! Our Santa Spotters are out and about today so if you’re donning your best Christmas attire, you’re in with a chance to win a fabulous prize! Our last Countdown to Christmas Raceday before the big day is tomorrow – we hope you can join us! Then, if you’re stuck for something to do between Christmas and New Year, make sure you join us for our Chocolate Family Fun Raceday on Friday 29th December. There’ll be lots of FREE entertainment for the kids including a disco, colouring station, mini-shows and character meet and greets, a golden ticket treasure hunt, and of course, lots of chocolate and sweet surprises! A limited number of tickets are still available if you’d like to ring in the New Year at our glamorous Black Tie Gala Ball on Sunday 31st December. With Champagne and canapés on arrival, a delicious four-course meal, live entertainment, resident DJ and Champagne toast and fireworks at midnight – it’s the perfect way to welcome 2024 with family and friends. Book your table now at www.doncaster-racecourse.co.uk. Our first fixture of 2024 is on Wednesday 10th January when you can enjoy some mid-week afternoon jumps racing. The Great Yorkshire Chase weekend is Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th January, featuring a Premier Handicap run over three miles with 18 fences. It’s roll of honour includes Ziga Boy - the most successful horse in this race having won on two occasions. The Grimthorpe Chase weekend takes place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd March and is the final jumps fixture at Town Moor. Run at Doncaster each year, The Grimthorpe Chase is a National Hunt steeplechase that contains 19 jump fences. The distance has varied over time, but currently sits at a little over 3 miles and 2 furlongs. Considered the ultimate endurance test, this race is seen as a trial for the Aintree Grand National in April, as many winners (such as The Last Samuri and Definitely Red) have gone on to be favourites in the Merseyside race. 2024 Annual Memberships are now on sale. As well as our existing County Annual Membership, we have two new badges for 2024! Grandstand Annual Membership – available from the Early Bird price of £360 and for our existing Annual Members wishing to upgrade their membership – Premier Annual Membership for £995 (limited to 50 badges). Annual Membership offers entry to 500+ fixtures across Arena Racing Company racecourses, four free guest passes, four free racecards, auto-enrolment into the ARC Racing Club for a taste of racehorse ownership, access to attend a variety of reciprocal fixtures and events, plus much more. Full details and terms and conditions can be found at www.doncasterracecourse.co.uk/doncaster-racecourse/annual-membership. Early bird prices are available until 31st December so book yours today! Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted
