WELCOME TO DONCASTER RACECOURSE
Good afternoon and welcome to Doncaster Racecourse for our Spring Afternoon Meeting.
We’d like to thank today’s sponsors; Bet MGM, Grace & Dotty, Andy Gibson Foundation & EBF for their most generous and continued support.
We now have eight races on the card, with the last race taking place at 17:30. Our raceday presenter Bobby Beevers and resident tipster Roger Hart will be in the Parade Ring at around 12:45pm to run through today’s runners and riders and hopefully pick you out some winners!
We’d like to give a warm welcome to Graham Arnold of Around the Courses. Graham is a horse racing fanatic who is visiting and walking the course at all 59 UK racecourses on a race day within 80 days and he’s here at Doncaster today. He started this amazing challenge in April to raise money for Dementia UK - a charity very close to his heart. To find out more or to donate visit www.aroundthecourses.com.
Don’t forget to check out our Summer Saturday Series! The first event is on May 18th with the Boyband Experience featuring Undivided, but we have something for everyone this summer, from Summer Anthems featuring Chris Moyles on 1st June to One Night in Nashville performing at our This is Tennessee event on 3rd August.

Our flagship fixture, the Betfred St Leger Festival is just round the corner, taking place 12th – 15th September! The highlight of Doncaster’s social calendar, we welcome visitors from all over the country to Town Moor for this four-day festival including the World’s oldest Classic – the St Leger Stakes. Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race.
HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

HORSE WELFARE COMES FIRST AT DONCASTER
At every race meeting at Doncaster our top priority is the safety and welfare of both horse and rider We have a dedicated team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at all times and a horse ambulance in attendance at every meeting.
Use of Screens
It is our policy to erect green screens around any horse requiring veterinary attention. This does NOT reflect the severity of any injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse.

RACE SUMMARY
FLYING FINN showed improved form when making a winning handicap debut in good style at Ripon last week, looking better the further she went, and a penalty might not be enough to prevent her from following up. Rukaana was also successful on his first handicap start and is respected on his return, with the progressive Sir Gabrial completing the shortlist
