WELCOME TO HEREFORD RACECOURSE
Welcome to Hereford Racecourse. Welcome to Hereford for Super Irish Saturday. We hope you enjoy your visit and make the most of what we have to offer alongside the racing; •
Live Irish music in Hummingbird Bar during and after racing
•
Six Nations games shown on big screen and TVs throughout day
•
Look out for x20 sparkling shamrocks on the bottom of glasses for a FREE drink!
A warm welcome also to today’s sponsors, and thank you for their generous support. RE Recruitment sponsored on our historical reopening day back in October 2016 and we are delighted that they continue to support us. They are the UK’s fastest-growing independent, privately-owned multi-sector recruiter providing complete resource solutions to businesses across Herefordshire and beyond. Our partnerships with local based businesses matter to us, and we enjoy flying the flag together for Herefordshire. For many, attention next week turns to Cheltenham and there are 27 past Hereford winners entered at The Festival. We shall be following those horses in particular and are proud of the small role we play in the early stages of a horse’s career. Watching unknown, unproven or even fancied horses compete here in their early days is thrilling and we have been blessed this season with a combination or competitive and quality Jump racing that any racecourse would be proud to stage. This afternoon England take on Ireland in the 6 Nations and the game will be broadcast on site, including after racing where some bars will remain open serving. Please do stay and cheer on your favoured team until the final whistle, last orders will be shortly before then. Our next fixture is Ladies Day on Friday 25th March which offers a £500 first prize for the Style Award and fun Bottomless Brunch & Prosecco offering in Rusty Bridge. To find out more visit www.hereford-racecourse.co.uk Thank you to today’s Owners and Trainers for choosing to run with us, to the stablestaff who care for the horses so well and good luck to all of the jockeys riding.

Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: Selected to win the race. Good chance of being placed. By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
hope.
Unlikely to win but not totally without Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. for novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

LONGEST TRAVELLER: MOONLIGHTER trained by N Williams, South Molton, 103 miles. RACE SUMMARY PRINCE ESCALUS was quite impressive when making all over C&D last time and, although that was only a 3-runner event, he’s likely to be left alone in front once more, so he could take some pegging back. Fanzio looks a danger on the back of a solid showing at Musselburgh, but the remaining trio are all struggling for form. 1-2-3: 1.PRINCE ESCALUS (IRE) 2.FANZIO (FR) 3.MOONLIGHTER KEY colours
