Welcome to Hereford Racecourse. Welcome to Hereford for our final fixture of the season, Dino Family Fun Day. Today’s dinosaur themed entertainment all takes place on the Rusty Bridge lawn (away from the horses!) and whether it’s trying your hand at being a Dino Ranger, marvelling at T-Rex, enjoying Dino story telling or doing the Dino egg hunt I hope that you enjoy the entertainment. The Royal Equestrian Bedding Frequent Runner Series concludes today, and thanks to Mark Ware for his continued support and sponsorship throughout the season. There will be a presentation after the third race to the leading Trainer and also a free prize draw with one of the top 10 trainers being drawn to receive £1,000 for their stablestaff. This season has been one of the best I personally recall at Hereford. The racing has been compelling, competitive and quality and we have enjoyed welcoming the sport’s leading Owners, Trainers and Jockeys throughout the past six months. The weather has presented different challenges this season and watering at the end of January was certainly a first for us! Thank you to everyone that has supported Hereford this season; the biggest thanks of all goes to the many racegoers that have come and cheered home the winners in all weathers on all days of the week! I hope you enjoy today and look forward to welcoming you back in October.

ABANDONMENT POLICY

In the event of racing being abandoned, the following rules apply: • Abandonment before completion of the 1st race – badge valid for the next race meeting or full refund • Abandonment prior to completion of the 3rd race – 50% refund • Abandonment thereafter – no refund No refunds will be made on the day of racing. All refunds should be claimed in writing within 14 days of the abandoned meeting. Please enclose your badge/s as proof of admission and send them to: Racecourse Office, Hereford Racecourse, Roman Road, Hereford HR4 9QU. Please PRINT your name clearly and send with the returned badges.

ADMISSION BADGES

Racegoers are politely requested to ensure their badges are worn and to be clearly visible at all times. If you have purchased an E-ticket, please ensure you have this with you at all times.

BABY CHANGING FACILITIES

Baby changing facilities can be found in the main toilet block next to the raceday office to the left of the main entrance and in the Rusty Bridge Restaurant toilets. Please ask a member of staff for details of a private breast feeding area, if required.

DISABLED VISITORS

Forward parking is available for blue badge holders, stewards will direct you. For disabled visitors requiring a carer, the carer is admitted free of change. There is a disabled viewing area accessible through Rusty Bridge for wheelchair users, and disabled toilets on site.

DOGS

Racegoers are not permitted to bring dogs onto the racecourse at any time during the raceday, with the exception of guide dogs for the blind and hearing dogs. During hot weather, it should be remembered that Police and RSPCA officials reserve the right to force entry into any vehicle to release an animal if suffering.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

Hereford Racecourse employs safety stewards. In the event of an emergency which requires evacuation a public announcement will be made and the stewards will direct you to a safe area.

HORSE WELFARE COMES FIRST AT HEREFORD

Hereford’s top priority is the safety and welfare of both horse and jockey. We have a dedicated team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at every stage and a horse ambulance in attendance at each meeting. It is our policy to erect green screens around the horse requiring veterinary attention, to provide the privacy required at such times. Please do not assume the worse if screens are erected around such a horse. We are committed to minimising risks, dealing quickly and humanely with injuries and maintaining the highest possible quality of life for the animals in our care. Flash photography is not permitted at any time. Press and Commercial photographers must pre-arrange the necessary permission with the racecourse office at least 7 days before the race meeting. In the interests of public safety all visitors to the Racecourse should follow directions of the Safety

Stewards on the Stands and the Raceday Staff throughout the racecourse. Please do not leave bags or your possessions unattended at any time as this could cause a security alert. OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. for novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
